  1. A couple years ago we saw an agent bring some guys off the dock at Lilley's who each had a limit and were still fishing. He took them to their cabin and they had a lot of fish in the freezer. Way over the daily and possession limits. They got some fat fines. We talked to him afterward and told him we could not believe people did that. he said they do stuff like that all the time. I am all for helping those guys do their job.
  2. They should put one on the bend and up past short creek. Also it is not much wider in front of Lilley's. Sure would help banging the boats around.
  3. We stay in the hot tub cabins all the time and they are great. Well worth the extra $$$.
  4. Trav, don't you ever sleep?

  6. wily, I think that is a great story of you fishing with your son and him throwing back the biggest. I had heard of people getting tickets for fishing with 4 in the boat. Also not separating the stringers or fish in a livewell.
  7. Phil, isn't it a violation if you have a limit of 4 and are still fishing even though you release any over 4?
  8. trav, I sent you a pm.
  9. I had planned to be there but got stuck going out of town for work. Mid week events are hard to make when you travel. Phil the good thing about that kind of talk is it turns out a little different every time. Hope I can make it next year.
  10. Some good info on this thread. What are some other ideas for lower Taney? How about bigger raps jerked along trees and logs?
  11. A jig under a float is generally the best all round fly you can use on trout water. In the parks 1/80 or smaller. Sculpin, olive, black and white usually work. An orange headed sculpin micro jig is deadly at Taney and Montauk and so are the white thread jigs. We have been using them for years.
  12. I'll second that. Lilley's is the best place on the lake for many reasons. We'll be there in early April too.
  13. Trav, you need to post some pics of all these fish.
  14. Where did you get a surgeon's knot tool?
  15. This has become an interesting discussion. I have never been to the Beaver TW and was curious because my fishin buds and I have talked about it. I have fished the TW at Bull Shoals and Taney for more than 30 years so getting everyone's perspective is good. Last summer I fished the frying pan in colorado and that's trout fishing. All wild fish and boy do they fight. But I can't do a trip like that much so Taney is what I'll do. I would still like to see some more thoughts on the Beaver question though. Bobber, you, like a lot of us, have seen the money and effort thrown at fish and wildlife issues and seen a lot of it not work. On Taney though I think it works.
  16. bobber, Beaver must be your home water.
  17. I fished the frying pan last summer and it was awesome. Caught a lunker bow and more browns than bows. Plenty of public access along the road from Basalt to the dam. Taylor creek is a good fly shop. I had a guide through them and would use him again.
  18. How far is the drive from Lilley's to the Beaver tailwater and is it worth doing for one of the days we will be there? Have never fished it so don't really know how to get there. Any advice would be appreciated.
  19. Everytime I am above fall creek in my boat I see a lot of dead slot fish. Never see any big ones dead all 12-16 inchers.
  20. I would say that a boat that size is too small for taney regardless of the motor. With the way some of the nuts drive the big motors on that lake you will get swamped for sure. Just my .02 cents worth on this one.
  21. Go here for a list http://ozarkanglers.com/guides.php If you fish Taney you would be better off at Lilley's Landing than Big Cedar which is pretty pricey.

Chuck Wagon is good but there is a better place. Take 7 hwy east over 65 and make a left on the outer road. it is a little place on the right no more than 1/4 mile. Owned by a guy named Rusty who was the video guy for the Bronco's. Food is really good and cheap. They have an all you can eat rib night too. Never seen ribs that big before.
  23. You can't fix stupid.
  24. I have always wanted to fish wild trout in the high mountains in Colorado and this summer got a free guided trip on the Frying Pan near Aspen. It was awesome. Caught a lot of browns and a beautiful 3lb rainbow. I sure could cast that Winston rod the guide had.
  25. What is the name of the bar in old Branson that is supposed to have great burgers?
