thanks for all the help, but one more question. leaning to the canon t2i. comes with the 18-135mm IS lens. what is your all opinion on this lens to the standard 18-55mm lens. one store offers camera with 18-55mm lens, bag, and sd card for $1050, or the other store offers camera with the 18-135mm IS lens, xtra battery, lens hood, uv filter, hdmi cord for $1050. suggestions? fireman

geoff, that is the camera i was talking about. the new canon d60. it is 18mp, has hd video, external mic jack, etc. i really liked the quick access buttons and some other small features. the body price really isnt that much difference in price from the t2i about $300. the big price is that 70-300mm lens. its $650. the regular lens that comes with the camera is the 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS lens. fireman

i have read the dpreview, but my biggest question i guess is a rookie really spending unnecassary money on the d60? fireman

ok wife asked me want i most wanted for Christmas if i could just have one thing. i said a slr camera if that wasn't to pricey for her. she said go get it and she will wrap it from our kids. that being said i have been lloking at the canon t2i slr. when asked at best buy what would i have to compare that too, he said the canon d60 slr. he didnt care for nikon for few reasons which i agreed to what he was telling me. so little about my photography skills. like i said im a true rookie. know not even the slightest thing to make a decision on such an expensive purchase. so can you all help me decide on comparing these cameras or can you tell me about others and what i should look for besides pixels? i did like the pkg deal at best buy cannon D60 slr w/standard 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS lens plus the 70-300mm ISnf/4-5.6 telephotic lens. price for the D60 $1867 and the t2i is $950 but not the same telephotic lens. so can you all educate me? veery much a rookie here, but would love to shoot. kids are getting to the point if i dont take more pitures of them i will be shooting their graduations from hogh school. thanks fireman

ok need some help. I will be coming down to taney first week in october. I have had a stroke and have about 50% use of my left hand. with that being said, what would be the 5 flies to try (very novice flyfisher)with very little action from me? Also, will be bringing the family for their first time and what would you suggest for kids (teenagers) to use in the dam area? we are used to the trout parks, but want them to experience something better. Will be bring my fiberglass bass boat down as well so we would float fish if conditions are right. thnks in advance fireman

nice report and thanks for the tips. would love to have you as a guide, but i had a stroke 4 months ago and even though holding a pole would be a challenge, my funds are thin. so i will sit here and enjoy your reports. keep them coming. btw... in the picture of a recent trip, you had taken the picture with a nice catch, but why in the world is there a lm bass in there? did they seriously want a bass to eat? just my opinion fireman

mike, just found your site on here, but what time of day are these reports, for instance the walleye? fireman

on the weekends friday and saturday there is a buffet. its like $10 i think and mostly fried food but good. otherwise its ur typical place little expensive but not bad taste wise. if ur looking for a quick lunch and dont mind going out the park about 10 minute drive i have the best sectret place. called bo's hollow. smoke pork or brisket meal, with chips soda and dessert $5. not bad place to look around at the early 1900's to 1970 era stuff. look them up on line you wont be dissapointed. also if ur looking for a good pizza go out the park right up the road to reeds cabins. really good pizza $10 bucks i think. wish i was going with ya. love montauk fireman

hello all. i'm looking at a used boat, a fish and ski. it has a yamaha vmax 225 hp on it, looks to be in good condition. havent test road it yet, but was wondering how you all felt about the nada prices compared to the actual asking prices of the sellers. ther is about a $5000 difference in his asking price and the nada retail average price. so what can you tell me about the nada prices? are they close? fireman

hello. we went to destin last june and were told to go to the aquarium and they have a pier there to fish off of. it does costs to go on the pier but we did it. we rented their fishing gear i think it was 16 dollars for one child and that included 1 tub of frozen shrimp rod and real. kids had a blast and caught fish too. the earlier the better. justmy two cents worth. fireman

Hellooooo. Fireman
-
JJ, Hello, I will try to make this as short as possible. I lost my father when i was approx. 16 y/o. he took us to learn trout fishing every chance he got. with that being said i love it. I currently have my daughters and wife fishing this year with their own waders and poles and baits. we fish montauk state park mostly. we haven't been to a real stream or should i say a lake like taneycomo togther yet. i have myself. i would offer this to you. take these folks advise. it is some i have learned alot from as well over the years. ok now for my 2 cents. may 1 2010 at montauk state park is what they call kids fishing day. the park stocks trout throughout the day for kids under 16 ONLY. now u will see adults casting for the real small ones but the kids must take the pole and atempt to reel it in fish or no fish. my daughters started out this way and have expanded to other parts of the stream. no need for waders either on this day. its bank fishing. the stream is roped off for kids to walk up to it. my offer to you is this. My family and neighbors and friends will be there. i have reserved 2 hotel room for aprl 30 and may 1st. room is 2 dbl beds full bath and tv. this place a restuarant as well. one of my rooms are spoken for but i think the other i can let you have and pay me when you arrive approx $75 to $100 i would have to check my reciept. we camp and i reserve these for the friends that are to lazy to make reservations themselves. lol so let me know if this will work for you or if you are not interested. i will hold this for you til thanksgiving. i would love to help u and the boys out. my wife would love to have a novice with her lol. we live in the st charles mo area. my daughters ages are 13 and 10. the other kids are boys and girls ages from 3 to 14. about 4 other kids minimum. depends on weather. i also am trying to get into bass fishing. i just purchased a boat this yr and have a good neighbor teaching me this new adventure. dont ever give up. if you ever want help ask this board is amazing. bass fishing is just as fun as trout just depends on weather, time and patients on what kind of fish i fish for at the time. as im sure others have said i will too, i will drive from the st louis area to help u and the boys in trout fishing if you can let me know when u would like to meet if this is something u are interested in. thanks and God Bless Mothers, Fireman-Brian
