  1. Thanks for the invite @Daryk Campbell Sr....I'm only 45 mins from the White River.
  2. no apology needed @tjm...this is good conversation. Like yourself, I am a self taught fly fisherman as well. I've only been fly fishing for 6 months, and for the record, you can teach an old dog new tricks. I had bought some fly fishing rods/reels and fly gear at an auction in the spring of this year and have been learning as I go. One of the rod/reel combos was a Cabela's prestige rod/reel in 8 weight....that's what I am thinking about making my "streamer rod".
  3. What's the best streamer rod weight? Also, would it be better to set up the streamer rod with a sinking line? This would be used on the White River...
  4. Started at Roundhouse Shoals on Saturday morning around 8AM....I fished an area less than 200 yards long and had 14 rainbows & 1 very small brown (7 or 8 inches long). The biggest rainbow at Roundhouse 14 inches. Moved up to the Cotter walk in access and caught my personal best rainbow 17/18 incher. 18 fish total between both locations. Needless to say, it was an amazing day on the White River. All fish were caught on an olive green Wooly Bugger.
  5. nice ones for sure. I was down at Rim Shoals last Saturday and it appeared to be too deep for me.
  6. very good info guys....I've only been fly fishing for 6/7 months, trying to learn as much as I can.
  7. Roundhouse is the place I usually end up at, so much water to fish.
  8. Are you fishing the walk in access at Cotter or up from the boat ramp? I am planning on going to either Cotter or Rim Shoals on Saturday before the cold snap.
  9. Is this considered a wet fly?
  10. This was announced today.... https://www.agfc.com/news/commission-approves-emergency-order-for-trout-tailwaters-limits-temporarily-curtailed/

  12. Nice ones for sure. I had planned on going to Cotter yesterday but ended up at Lake Taneycomo.
  13. I caught 2 rainbows and missed 3 others on an olive woolly bugger. I've only been fly fishing for 6 months or so.
  14. I had fished the Norfork tailwater on Saturday morning....seen several shad floating down the river. The size ranged 3 inches up to 6/7 inches.
