Don it was nice to meet you. Fished for a little over and hour and landed three, hooked several more but the hooks kept pulling out. I opted for the old stand by # 16 grey scud. It was a great day to spend with my wife (she in the shade with book and lawn chair enjoying the cool air). Vince

put in at cricket crk and found stained water, looked for crappie no luck, went up long crk and found some small whites, water temp 53-56

Fished trophy area drifting scuds and sand juans, no bites. Went below fall creek and picked up a few trout on night crawlers and power bait. A slow am.

Hello, wade fished Taney Sun afternoon. Had a good day catching small trout. Most were caught on midges, tried several colors but none better than another. Trout were on the small side, lots of short strikes. If you can identify it I found a fly box. If I can locate the owner be glad to return it. vince.

Fished Taney on Sunday 10 - 2:30. Water was off, we fished out of the boat in the trophy area. We fished jig and float on a flyrod and had a great day, no big fish but alot of them. Best color was olive or sculpin. We still had ice in our eyelets when we left, cold and windy. Vince

fished Jan 4 2pm till dark below #3 to boat ramp. Action was best on olive scuds, drifting under and indicator but keeping them on the bottom. Lots of short strikes, but good action. Fish ranged from 8 to 14 inches. vince

I'd say Lilley's Landing, just the kind friendly service they give is a good reason, but add to that the great tackle store, marina, clean rooms, great views, close to town but out of traffic is more reason to say their the best. Their knowledge of the fishing is tops, Phil works at knowing the lake and the fishing, he wants his guest to catch fish and be happy. The guides are top of the line, our own Bill Babler is one of Phils finest, he takes pride in putting people on fish and teaching them how to catch them.

Spent a week at No Name lake, Outfitter was Dogskin Outfitters, web site, www.dogskin.com. We had a great time, we spent a week at one of their outpost cabins on a fly in trip. We started with eight people and lost one checking through customs at the border, he had a couple of DUI's and they would not let him enter the country. It was a 1125 mile drive to the airbase on the Winnepeg River and then a 50 minute flight to the outpost. We stayed in a 3 room cabin that slept 8, with solar panels for lights and water pump and propane for frig,cook stove, and hot showers. We fished out of 14 ft v bottom alum boats with a 15 hrs power 4 stroke motor. They told us fishing was slow according to Canadian standards due to ice out being just two weeks previous and the walleye had just spawned and were lethargic. They were lethargic but deffinitely not uncatchable. The morning bite was slow but picked up later in the day. We found them in 10 -12 dept on the edge of weed lines, weed lines were hard to find since ice out was so recent. The best bite was on jigs tipped with minnows worked slowly and I mean slowly on the bottom. I used a med rod with 6 lb line and had a blast. A couple of days caught up to aprox. 70 fish in a full day fishing. Slow maybe by Canadian standards but I don't know anywher in the lower 48 that you can see that kind of action. Average fish sizes aprox 18 - 19 inces, I caught walleye from 7 to 28 1/4 inches. The last day it was storming and the wind kept us off the water till 2 and we had to come in by 5:30 to pack, my partner and I boated 35 walleye and 7 pike. I landed 1 25", 1 26', 2 27", an 1 a quarter " over 28"s. The 28 was just over 8 pds on a digital scale not bad for just coming off their spawn. Due to lack of weeds, (not yet up) it was hard to locate pike in shallow water for fly fishing, but I did find some. I caught aprox 20 pike on the fly and what a blast.. my largest was 32"s. What an awsome and explosive fish. My best fly was a bait fish pattern tied with EP fibers. It is heart stopping to see a big wake rushing through the weeds and explode on your fly as your stripping it in. Steel leader is a must for the pike I don't know how many jigs I lost to pike while eye fishing you set the hook and you just get limp line they cut it so quick you never even feel the fish. This was really a great trip, you can go to their website for pricing they have several different packages for trips. I will try to post some pictures later.

use the chain stringer and put enough weight on the top hook so you can feel it dragging the bottom. that way you know your back hooks will be where they need to be.

Good point. The only advantage I see is most guys have been fishing since they were young, but not all, it would be the same if a guy didn't fish till he was later in life.

Kind of late for Mondays report but here it is. Fished the lake above the boat ramp from noon it dark. Fished san juans, wollie buggers, scuds and soft hackles but by far the best bite came on grey and brown scuds size 14 using 6x. It was really windy and lots of short strikes and lots not short enough. It was a good catching day. Best fish of the day was a bright red bow with a hooked jaw aprox 5 lbs. Couldn't keep my hands dry and by the time it got dark I was a shaking from the cold. But those fish, its hard to leave em. Vince
