  1. All points are very well taken! For what it is worth I had an "Old Head" many years ago asked me what goes into a piece of cloth the easiest a nail or a straight pin? You know the answer the pin.He claimed that you will get far more hook ups and probably lose no more fish than you already do. I found he advice does work, pinch the barb.
  2. Mr.D Go to the SPECIAL FORUM site at the beginning of the site and click on TIPS & TRICKS then find ANIMATED KNOTS really a good site to learn how to tie the different knots used in fly fishing. Hang in there and don't give up. Leave the other rods at home, you will be to tempted to go back to them when you first start out. Why? because you start thinking "I can't catch fish with a fly rod" you will and probably LOVE IT!
  3. Terry: Great to hear everything went well and I know you will enjoy therapy! Did miss the now famous Terry Beeson post. Just not the same without your humorus & some times serious post on this thread.
  4. Man I couldn't get on last night, hardly could get to sleep without my nightly review of this thread, best fishing I have without really fishing.
  5. LMW: Terry on drugs! Hope no one from the government is checking this thread.
  6. MrDucky: Congratulation, another dream comes try! This forum brings people together who are willing to help others. What else could you ask for?
  7. Bubbaray: Try Trout Hollow Lodge 1-800-328-1246
  8. Terry surprised you didn't ask for a BIG TROUT whistle like Leonard uses!! I did!!!!
  9. I agree with Dano, great piece of writting. You put to word what I think the majority of members of this forum truly feel about fly fishing.
  10. LMW: Leonard is right about the oxygen levels being higher {NO SURPRISE THERE}. I might add there are small depressions located in fast waters, that people over look, which allows trout to protect themslves from the faster current. Also work the rocks that you will find in some fast waters. Trout simply love getting behind and in front of these which protects them from the current.
  11. "God gave fishermen Expectancy So they would never tire of throwing out a line" Author unknown
  12. CC/OF: Nicely done!
  13. Phil: When does Taney start seeing a shad kill come down from Table Rock?
  14. Lostmywife: Noticed you live in Edwardsville IL. I live in Troy need to get together for a trip!
  15. It is really strange this subject came up on the forum. While watching the Goats show up for some football today I became, forget that thought! I started flipping channels and ran across an oldie "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington". I started thinking how much that movie, from 1939, illustrated what is wrong with politics today! Term limits for all public offices,One 6 year term for ALL offices in Washington, with 1/3 of Senators & Representatives being elected every two years, or some type of formula to have a turn over where not every office is elected at the same time. Oh well back to reality!
  16. Three hr trip one way and I make it a round trip day. Arrive at 9-930am and head east at 4-415pm home by 700pm. The trip is worth the drive. Fished a part of it 11/18 {Sat.} had two others show up in the general area then they left. Caught 40+ ? fish with two being in the 5 lb area. Great waters to fish and you will catch some wild bows in the riffles, you will not have trouble telling them apart from the hatchery bows. Watch the deer & bald eagles in peace and quite.
  17. Terry is ALWAYS good for a few laughs!!!!
  18. Who do we contact to join this movement?
  19. Never happen! Neither party has the nerve to push this bill out of committee. Probably will never get pass last evening news.
  20. In picture # 2 the black cord that is coming out off Center Punches sweat shirt has the "Big Fish Whistle" attached to it Leonard is selling, he probably told Center Punch to keep it hidden, from us that try to catch BIG fish!
  21. You can use an indicator with the fly then tie the second fly with the length of tippet set for the depth of water you plan to fish. I use the same size tippet for the trailer as I use off the leader. Tie the second flies tippet to the bend of the hook of fly # 1.
  22. He left his "Big Fish" whistle at home.
  23. I agree!
  24. I have used Brett as a guide twice in the last three years. Mainly to learn how to be successful catching fish from a boat while they are running water. As usual they never ran any water, so it was wading all day. On these two trips, which included my two fishing buddies, we were very successful without any tactics being used by Brett to chum the waters. He personifies the spirit of a true sportsman and a person I would be more than happy to call a fishing partner. I too have problems with the post from PKw. Heck why would I pay someone to chum the waters when I could do that myself for nothing. Sounds to me some people are jealous so they let their imagination take over. I really wanted to leave this alone but could not let a persons name & business get slam dunked when I personally know otherwise.
  25. MoBass: You probably already know this on glow balls it helps to open the hook gap slightly and bend the hook slightly off center to increase your hook ups. Have not fished glow balls in a number of years but I did find this to help on the hook up.
