  1. TOGA....TOGA.....PARTY! Reminds me of an movie which had a really wild TOGA PARTY The weather might be a little cold but what the heck....It's a TOGA PARTY
  2. Same on this end!
  3. There is a big article in the St. Louis Post Dispatch newspaper today 4/5 in the Commentary Section concerning "CAFO" on the negative side towards these types of operations. They came out and stated the good governor is in favor of the bill. He and my governor {IL} should get together and compare notes {personal opinion}
  4. Man! Good to see the site back up, I was starting to have issues with withdrawal symptoms.....
  5. Rich: Maybe it would be better to start a new thread for a meet!
  6. Rich: Let me see if I can come up with something, usually can manage whatever coms up, maybe we can get more than just the two of us like last year. Larry
  7. John: A group of us were on the Norfork last week and while wading in the rocks across from Gene's I noticed silt {mud} coming up around my feet, I assume this is from Overlook! Have you also noticed this or is my brain on overload? Also noticed the big flat rocks just in the water on the shoreline next to Gene's oldest dock the rocks had a gray like silt tint! If what I noticed is correct there has to be major issues concerning the destruction of the aquatic life in this tailwater.
  8. Terry: You might already know this but Feather-Craft in St. Louis sells the furled leaders with the rings on them. http://feather-craft.com
  9. Phil: Great pictures, were they taken with your Pentax Optio W20? Have not had a chance to try mine, if they come out as good as yours I will be very happy!
  10. A guy I was with in Viet-Nam use to hear those same voices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Russ: In the state of IL. the IEPA can and will go after companies not in compliance with state regs on environmental issues. Illinois regs are the same as federal standards, and the feds usually will let the state be the lead agency. The company I retired from had a discharge from a facility and was unaware of the incident until the state came knocking on the door. A $500,000 fine and once remediation of the site {seven figures minimum}completed, the baby can be placed to bed. Don't know about Arkansas but guessing I would say yes. I think Beebe took the steps he did to have funds immediatly available to start doing something with the site and not wait for the legal process to drag out forever. The incident I mentioned above took 2+ years before an out of court settlement was agreed to by both parties.
  12. There has been a great sharing of opinions on the current issue of CFAO's. I would like to share some of my thoughts on the subject, with not quite the insight others have shown . SM: I agree with you on the global market issues. I noticed an article concerning the import of chickens into the U.S. from China, no surprise there! When the issue of the Asian Fly was brought up, what with the documentation of cases in China, the governments answer was since the chickens will be cooked prior to shipment this will not be an issue! Well! I can only HOPE this issue was researched better than others have been in the last 3/4 years. MAX: Great point about Missouri's DNR and the job they do with the resources they have been given. I also commend the voters of Missouri who have been willing to vote for taxes which have been used for conservation etc. Most communites want even vote in favor of tax increases to keep their schools at minimum operating standards. The DNR's mission is to "protect, preserve, and enhance Missouri's natural, cultural and energy resources" they are also charged with the issuance of CFAO's permits, and now, to me, finds itself placed at direct odds with its own mission. Well! For what it's worth that's my 2 cents worth
  13. Hey Silver! Just heard from someone from Ozark Flyfishers and they have been in contact with a Rhonda Perry of the "Rural Missouri Crisis" group ? I will pm you!
  14. Terry: You are toooo much!!!!!
  15. Now we know the real bait used on some of those biiiiiiig trout being caught at night
  16. Last year you could camp there {very basic} Fished there two weeks ago and did not notice any signs posted stating otherwise.
  17. Leonard left the "Big Trout Whistle" at home
  18. "Under current state law, counties and local governments have the power to pass zoning ordinances to regulate economic activity and land use in certain areas. Barry County has no zoning ordinances on the books." The above is what Sen. Koster Senate Bill 364, which is out of committee will change, deny the rights of local government {the people} to have power to regulate themselves
  19. Silver: I just find it hard to believe a state Senator would even dream up such a bill and then it is harder to believe it got out of committee! Maybe they all are receiving roses from agri-corps!!
  20. Happy Birthday Wayne! Again thanks for the encouraging words.
  21. Found the following in the Kansas City Star Friday March 2, 2007 The other locations for the permits will be Mark Twain Lake, Battle of Athen Historic site in Clark County & Arrow Rock Mo. ? will be granted permits for construction of 4,800-head hog farms. Here is the real shock of the article and I will quote "State Senator Chris Koster, recently filed SB 364, which would protect farmers from costly lawsuits over odors or pollution and would pre-empt local laws regulating agricultural operations" "The Senate committee passed the bill, which now goes before the full Senate" Koster says he's simply recognizing that agriculture is moving "towards the modern world whether we like it or not" WELL if this is the "modern World" take me back to the stone age!! I think the Honorable Senator from Harrisonville needs to quit smelling the roses corporate agribusiness sends him and take a sip of swill we all will be drinking
  22. and I love this water soooooo much!!!!!! What style of clothing do they wear in Arkansas prisons  ? If the Fed's get involved they might just go for some prison time with a large....... $ fine to boot! They have been known to go after the BIG guys to show they mean business!!!
  23. I have been receiving numerous e-mails from Africa {Nigeria} about numerous different issues. Example: One guy worked for the UN and had been in Lebanon after the war with Israel and found a little boy who's entire family was killed . The boy showed him a trunk in the basement of their house which had millions of $ in the trunk . If I would send him money to send the boy to USA {he would make arrangments  } he would be able to ship money after boy arrived for the three of us to split! You know! Like TRUST ME They finally stopped showing up about a week ago!
  24. MrsDucky: Well! it is not just you feeling this way I also agree, to me NO one wants to be responsible for their own actions, blame other 1st Case in point: St. Louis mother and son go out on front porch with guns account 15-20 youths throwing rocks and newspapers at their house and yelling for her other son to come out and fight over a girl Mother shoots and kills one boy and wounds another No 911 phone call made from home prior to shooting Now this all took place in a sub-divison. 2nd case in point: Mother buys alcohol for underage son's party, son gets killed in car wreck account drinking Something has gone terribly WRONG with our society  When does it STOP? Maybe I'm just getting to old Soap box clear again
  25. Everything has been cleaned up, lots of tree damage! Check this web http://missouritrout.com/weavers
