  1. Martin and his partner came in 4th .... I guess not too bad for newbies at the walleye game.
  2. Question: Why is it OK with you guys to kill and clean every walleye you catch, especially the egg filled walleyes that many people fish for only in Febuary and March, and it's not OK to kill and clean every egg filled nesting bass you catch...?? Somebodies thinking is all screwed up here.
  3. Sam, that an excellent photo / comparison. And thanks for the short fishing trip Thursday !!
  4. Good point Hunter91.... I too, catch an occaisional crappie way out in the middle of nowhere when trolling..... By the way: They're baaaccckkkkkkk....... I went out this evening between rain showers and got three really nice crappie in about 40 minutes....Not red hot but the size makes up for the slow periods. I missed at least two. These babies are big....!! (Same method as described above)....
  5. Most of my Tablerock walleyes, (which are few and far between), were caught while trolling for whites. June, July, and August if you can stand the heat. We generally go over to Bull Shoals to catch walleyes. BS has a pretty good walleye population but even with that said, walleyes can be a frustrating deal. I may be wrong but it "seems like", the farther you go west on the lake (Tablerock), the better chance you have of catching a walleye. One of my buddies fishes up around Eagle Rock and he catches more walleyes then most people. Phil, that would be great if we could keep on those crappie. They gotta be somewhere.... Don, thank you. Those darn crappie must have gone on vacation. I blanked yesterday morning and I went out on my lunch hour (hour and a half) and blanked again...Maybe when the weather straightens out I'll get another shot at them.
  6. I'm fishing long narrow coves that have pretty steep banks. You can find them in quite a few creek arms in the lower lake. I'm not REAL familar with the Indians but they would probably hold some crappie. LWW, that is an extra large crappie. I didn't weigh it but I should have. It was about 15 1/4 inches long. I've caught longer crappie but never caught a heavier crappie. I've been trying to keep track of white crappie vs black crappie. We have been catching 99% white crappie. The big one in the photo was very hard to tell. At first glance, I thought black crappie but upon close inspection, some faint bars were visible. I'm still not totally sure which it was. I blanked this morning before work. darn fish.....
  7. Kicknbass, by June my crappie fishing is usually over with. By June it'll be either trolling for walleyes or whites. (depending on what lake I'm fishing). June is also a great time to catch some nice Flatheads. I'm sorry I'm not much help with the June crappie. I just never had tried it at that time of year.
  8. Well..... This post didn't exactly set the forum on fire..... That's OK. It leaves more of these little panfish for me. Caught three more this evening in about 45 minutes. Dang it's almost COLD out there.
  9. We've been extracting large crappie from submerged trees by slow trolling (w/elec. t-motor) a 1/8 oz jig. Keep boat in 32 feet of water and go about 1 mph.... MOST of the time, you'll be running just outside the visible tree line. 10/4 Fireline will get most of your hang-ups back with a straightened hook. Jig body of choice...?? Swimmin' Minnow. It doesn't get much simpler then that.
  10. Just wondering if anybody has heard anything about a boating crash this weekend. All my info is heresay and third hand.... so....I don't even know if it actually happened or not. The story is that some folks in their new Crown Line were in the Kings River arm and were hit by a bassboat that was "flying low"..... Here's the unusual part of the story. After the crash with both boats starting to sink, the bass boat reportedly took off and left the scene.. Sounds pretty weird...... Anybody have any info on this....?? Well, I just found this report in the mo state water patrols website. It did happen. It was a Cobalt, not a Crown Line. The bassboat and BB driver has not been found after leaving the scene. http://www.mswp.dps.mo.gov/news/NRDetail.a...=3&ID=N07060016 sheesh.....
  11. Phil and Bill... That Zatarains seasoning sounds good. I'm going to try that. Sam, the mushrooms are coming.....the mushrooms are coming....!! (Wish it would rain again).
  12. Sam, even with the "new" cooking method, I'd cut all the red meat off those whites. Unless your taste buds are way different then mine, I think you'll come out better if you remove the red meat. What time is dinner...??
  13. It's now April 5th.....The wife just came in with 48 ...... All blacks..... I heading out after work...!!
  14. Thank you..... And very early too. In fact, that is the earliest we've ever found one. It should get going really good in the next couple of weeks down here in the south part of the state.
  15. And it put up one heck of a fight.... I'll attempt to attach a photo.
  16. Here's a link to the list of maps..... Mark Twain isn't on it and a few others are not on it. They say those are "being corrected"..... http://www.fs.fed.us/land/staff/rural-pdf.shtml
  17. One of the better known southern California big bass hunters has caught a 25 something. Here's a link to one of the stories. http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/outdo...1-bn20bass.html There is another story on the espn website. I'll try and get that link. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/fishing...rd_Weakley_25.1 There we go.....
  18. We used Hickory Creek Marina but it's a one laner and will cost you $3.00.
  19. Duckman, there were SEVERAL striper boats in the upper White River last weekend. I can't vouch for their catches, but given the number of them up there, my guess is that they were catching some. As I mentioned before, the crappie were certainly cooperating. The water temp was 49 to 51 degrees all last weekend. (Mostly cloudy and cool). This week should raise that by at least a few degrees. Possibly several degrees.
  20. Hey I fished the White River arm of Beaver last weekend with a buddy and our wife / girlfriends. We caught limits or near limits of crappie both days. Crappie fishing isn't one of my strong suits but it sure seemed easy Sat & Sunday. We were using a new jig made by Arkie Jigs, called the Shinee Hinee. Man they were eatin' that thing up. I also saw some fine looking bass brought in each evening. Things are startin' to pop...!!
  21. Thanks Phil....!!
  22. Guys, are there any size requirements for posting photo's ? How big is too big ? Sorry if this was already covered. I didn't see any info but I may have overlooked it.

Hey there Sam...! I found my way over. Got a good laugh with the Roostertail comment.....! Mushr....uh, CRAPPIE time is just around the corner. (I hope). And yes, we'll get together. I'm going to make you pick your own morels this year. You put me on the crappie and I'll put you in a morel patch...!!

    New TR Map

The Navionics boats were here in Cow Creek for a few days back about then. They were criss-crossing the cove slowly. I was hoping that's what they were doing. (new map).
