  1. Drawing for the sweetgrass Raffle rod will be on the 1st of august #2 [-] Posts: 38 07/30/2011 07:53 Hi, the winning # will be drawn sometime on august first, I need to grab a kid to make the drawing I'll anounce on the forum the winner as soon as I can, you can still get in on the raffle, till I have the # drawn. Thank you Paypal money to timsfly@hotmail.com or call the shop 417-847-4956 and give me a CC # And again thanks to the great guys at Sweetgrass for the rod donation, there are 52 #'s in the raffle at the moment
  2. I've got some at the shop, pm me and I'll mail you some Or call me 417-847-4956
  3. Guys when I get back from the Keys we will get the winner drawn, I posted some time back it would be the end of July when the winner would be drawn.
  4. I've built and used, and I own one of Mark's rods, they are very good quality, I own and fish the 7 1/2' one weight, very nice, the whole thing only weighs an ounce, I used a cork reel seat, very thin aluminum rings, and titanium single foot guides, it is a pleasure to fish.
  5. You missed me by a lot I was in bed by 10:00 each night, I only fished a bit In the afternoon, we floated and caught several on Thursday.
  6. I hope this is ok, I don't do video very often, but I hope this helps Deer Hair 100 GSP thead (olive) 2488 or same type hook #14-#20's lots of trimming
  7. I'll see about getting a video on, soon.
  8. #16's & #18's brown and natural both worked I tie em on a 2488 or a daichi 1510
  9. I've landed lots of 10lb + trout on my short soft buggy whips, with 5X tippet you hardly ever break off, I think I get better leverage on the bigger fish with the short rods. As long as the trout don't run straight out into the main current, I can handle fish like I was catching, just fine on my light short fly rod.
  10. Wife and I are staying in Branson tonight, she is by the pool and I went fishing. 4 units running, nobody up at outlet 1, just one guy and me, I must have caught 30 in about 90 minutes, almost all on a deer pellet fly, 2 or 3 would have gone 18"-19" It was fun, kinda boring after awhile, but still better than working 6' 2wt and a new peerless reel, 5X tippet, only broke off once. I'll try to do It again tomorrow.
  11. Thanks guys for all the support, I'm at about 1000$ so far, I sure would like to see it around 2000$ by the end of July when we pull the lucky #
  12. First full day off in 3 weeks, so I took a break and went fishing, I went to Roaring River, because even though I'm not working today, I had to do something in town before I could go, I'm always working Started off in the C&R area, did very well, first two fish came up to a #18 blue wing olive, the next two were on a #10 black beetle, then I caught 14 on a white chamois worm, the one in the pic was the biggest today he was around 18", I switched to a small olive bugger and caught a few more, then went to the shop, checked in with Duane, got a tea at the water slide, and went back down for a few more hours, went up by the old CCC lodge, tons of fish up there, I put on a crackle back and caught a few right quit, then put on the black beetle and caught two more, then I fished the show hole, the one right in front of the old lodge, and caught maybe 10 more on small white brassies, small egg patterns and a few more on a green/grizzly crackle back. fished 6X all day and could have done a bit better with 7X but I was stubborn and didn't change, used several differnt rods today, I was breaking in a few new bamboos, its a crappy job but someone has to do it. The water is great right now, the dry fly fishing is really good right now, adams, beetles, blue wing olives, caddis griffiths gnats and crackle backs have all been really good the past few weeks, most of the dries I'm fishing right now are 16's and smaller except the crackle backs and the beetles. It was a good break from working.

  20. Water is fine, good dry fly fishing, water clear, and about normal now.
  21. I still have a decent supply of hackle, and I'm still getting orders in from whiting, I get some new saddles about every 6 weeks, supplies are low, but I just keep ordering and I do get some feathers evey little bit, I have several tiers, and I'm keeping them plenty busy,
  22. Water is in great shape, should be perfect right now for fishing and floating
  23. Hopper fishing should be good then. #12-#8 hoppers are my favorite sizes I do the hopper dropper all the time, I just tye foam hoppers most of the time, and I use Chernoybe ants a lot also.
  24. Not sure, but they won't work on the river sat. Or sun. They have a lot more gravel to move before they are done.
  25. Well I'm working on a few things, maybe we can get this going by next week
