  1. Thanks, I'm just waiting on the rod company to tell me what they are going to donate.
  2. I carry nearly the same gun when fishing crane, for SNAKES, and SABERTOOTHED FROGS !!!!!! Nice looking shotgun.
  3. I caught a couple on big chernoyble ants today, I figured they were hitting them for cicadas, had a good trico hatch this morning. Still they are digging in zone 2, and the water will be dirty down there till they get done dredging the river.
  4. Hi, I live in S.W. Missouri, some of you know me, if you watch any news at all you will have seen how badly Joplin Missouri was tore up by last weeks tornado, I have a rod company that is considering donating a rod for me to auction off or raffle off to make some money for the joplin tornado relief fund, now here is my questions, what will make the most money, auction or raffle, and whom should I give the money to, the red cross ? the Convoy of Hope, they say each $ given is worth 7 and they have been a big help so far, or is there another group I should look into, any advice will be read and appreciated, thank you. I can get about 7 fly shops involved in the raffle, maybe more, I thought maybe selling tickets for 5$ each for a month period ? And then having some kid draw out a name or ticket ? Ok I have the rod now, it is a 7'9" 2pc Quad 4/5 wt Sweetgrass bamboo fly rod, this was given to me to raffle off for the recovery efforts continuing in Joplin Missouri, 5$ per chance, 20$ gets you 5 chances, all precedes will go to Convoy of Hope, I hope this rod will raise some money for the people in Joplin. You can send checks: Tim's Fly Shop 23387 st. Why 112 Cassville, MO 65625 Or you can paypal me at timsfly@hotmail.com use the gift button when sending money on paypal, this will bypass the fees paypal charges Or you can call the shop 417-847-4956, I'll pay the credit card fees, the entire 5$ you spend on a chance will go towards the entire donations, I will Take care of all fees on my end, it will not effect the total sent to convoy of hope, holler at me if there are any questions, or if I have left out any information I will take care of any shipping charges involved in getting the rod to the winner. I will donate money my self, but I'm not eliglble to win the rod I'll put pics up of the rod in a couple of days, I am going to sell chances on the rod for about 6 weeks, I'll have some kid draw out the winner, I will take pics so Everyone can see the process, the local paper will be on hand for the drawing. Thanks everybody, give what you can. If you want to thank the sweetgrass guys email them at www.booboys@3rivers.net Tell Jerry, Glen, and David thanks.
  5. Cicadas are out, not seeing the fish rising to them to much, but haven't seen that many on the water but you can hear em they are all over the place, I'm sure a few are being eaten.
  6. It is getting much better, good bugger and nymph fishing, starting to get a few on caddis, but not many on top yet, have had good roports on small jigs, fished under an indicator, River is not muddy anymore, and there is maybe 3' of clarity now, one guy came in awhile ago and bought some beetles, told me he caught trout on them yesterday.
  7. Yeh, I thought about Bennett today, but it is as big as roaring river, check out the web cam. http://mostateparks.com/page/58502/trout-cam
  8. River came up a bit last night, go to my face book page, I've got pics posted there, upper end is more fishable than the lower section http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?cb_00065=on&cb_00060=on&format=gif_default&period=1&site_no=07050152 The gauge should help
  9. Still a nice strong flow, so extra weight will be needed, I fished a San Juan worm wednesday evening and did pretty good, red color worked best for me, caught a couple on a 1/32 dk. Brown woolybugger jig. I was adding 2 #4 shot, in most of the runs I fished.
  10. The snakes are getting more aggressive everyday, it is great fun when they fall out of the trees and land on or near you, makes for a very exciting day of fishing, just don't hum while you fish, it will attract the bigger snakes. River is in great shape.
  11. It is good stuff if you have trouble breaking light tippets.
  12. Those snakes are great, they will jump out on your shoulders in the summer, they will bite into your neck and hold on, those snakes are mean, but the saber toothed sunfish, and the saber toothed bullfrogs scare me more than those snakes, happy wading, the snakes are even worse on CRANE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Yep worth every penny. They would just waste it elsewhere.
  14. Water is looking good, i caught 7 this morning in about an hour, the clearest water is up close to the spring, lots of nice fish were caught this past weekend. I caught mine on copper johns, chamois worms and pheasant tail this morning.
  15. The river is looking better every day, it should be in good shape in a few weeks.
  16. The hole in the ground (the spring) isn't the problem, it is those long hollows feeding into the park, they are the reason for the flood, the spring never has risen enough to flood the river, but those hollows when the rain falls right can come up 8-10' real fast.
  17. Get a 9' 5wt TFO cost will be $109-149$ and keep the reel and line you have now, unless the reel is giving problems. You would still have enough money to buy a new line if need be. Sorry didnt read far enough I wuld still look at a TFO and maybe a Ross fly start reel, good combo If you get the 2pc TFO, you would still have money for the reel and line, TFO make some nice 3 & 4 wts
  18. Duane sent me this, this morning We just came back from the river and the shop. Got the mail and the UPS boxes from Louann. Spirit River, Galvan Reels, Black Knight Industries and Micro Jigs. A notice for package at the PO. Went by there. It was a rod from New Jersey. Still no Wapsi. The river is looking better. Zone 1 is cloudy but not mud like yesterday. Dry Hollow is running clear so zone 2 is actually looking better than zone 1. The bridge is still closed but they got all of the trash removed from it. They have all of the asphalt removed fron the campground 3 road and looks like they are just going to put in some gravel for now. They have it and the first tent sight dug out. I plan to go down for the morning at least Friday and see what happens if there is anyone in the park. There were three guys fishing this afternoon. It should clear a lot between now and the weekend. (Got my fingers crossed). I am sure the spring will muddy up but who knows when!!! Guess that is it for now. Later, Duane
  19. Steve take some pics and put them on the forum.
  20. I think it is fishable now, but I wouldnt go down with a fly rod this weekend, the flow is still very fast, and the water is chocolate brown.
  21. Duane has taken a lot of pics, and I can't seem to upload them using my Ipad, I'll post Them after I get home.
  22. Water is up a foot or so murky, but you can still see fish in the river. Gonna be a woolybugger, and nymphing week, there may be some Dry fly fishing , but it will be spotty. Gonna be a great week for the egg and worm fisherman
  23. I was using a floating lne and on the buggers and jigs I used about 9' 5x tippet.
  24. Getting the crappie in 5-10' of water around about any kind of stick up, we were fishing chartruse a lot, I was using buggers and small jigs most of the time
