  1. Fished it last week, below the dairy farm, caught a few on woolybuggers.
  2. I don't know why, but it has been closed in the winter as far back as I can remember
  3. They have 6 cameras total, they move them around. And parking lot cameras to check the plates of violators
  4. zone 3 is off limits from nov 1st-to the end of febuary, catch and keep march 1st-oct 31st from the bridge (below the dam) is closed till the end of feb. this area is over a mile long, great fishing sometimes, but during the winter season it is closed, the parking area on F hwy is the place to start(conservation parking lot) walk to the water, straight down the hill, and follow the river downstream, don't go upstream or you'll be in the park, and breaking the law I've never done that of course but if you did it might be good fishing, but the 200$ fine stops most people from trying, most people
  5. Curry bridge is about a mile lower than the prior crossing. The MDC doesn't stock on the Prior property any longer, because he kept throwing a fit about people fishing on his land, and he is an .........
  6. I'll give 50$ for that huge 9' 8wt, I need something to use as a door stop at the shop
  7. 500 rainbows and 20 lunker rainbows, scattered from right below the park to Curry Bridge, so that is about 3 miles of water, I went down this morning and caught one of the lunkers it was about 5 lbs, and most were 3-4 pound trout, and the 500 stockers were of 12-15 inches. Started to spit sleet and ice, so I left, but there should be a few down thru there for awhile, till the bait fisherman find out and get in there and catch most of them, it happens all the time. Eagles will eat some Otters will eat some Remember browns still have to be 15" or longer to keep, but who would eat an old nasty brown, I heard they taste like an old sock
  8. They both were fine, I haven't lost a fish in a long time
  9. Had another good day at the park, lots of nice 3-6 pound trout in the water, with enough 8 and 9 pound trout to make it interesting. I caught several nice fish today, caught a lot of them on glo-balls, san juan worms, woolybuggers, and even a few on small pheasant tails, not a bad day, the wind didn't start blowing till this afternoon so it was actually quite pleasant early, I did talk to the hatchery, today, going to be another stocking of 350 the first week in dec. also there is going to be a stocking of lunkers at capps creek and hickory creek here in the next couple of weeks, mostly 3-6 pound rainbows, and there will be 3 more stockings over the next few months at capps and only 2 more at hickory. So when you don't have time to drive to branson and it is in the middle of the week and you can't fish the park, go fish capps creek or hickory creek, they are usually pretty quite, especially in the middle of the week. Still lots of eagles in the park, and they have been down low all week. Water is still normal and clear, the MDC is doing some digging in our C&R area, they are supposed to be placing some large piles of rocks here and there to provide some more cover, it should help, I'll post some pics when they finish up.
  10. Great report, I need to get back over there.
  11. You can only wade in the top part of zone 2(the regular C&R area) and you can wade from the F-hwy bridge, down to about 50 YDS above the handi cap dock in zone 2, you can't wade any where else in the park, during the winter C&R season, you can wade all of zone 3, but zone 3 is closed to fishing until march 1st, guess you can go wade down there during the winter, you just can't fish.
  12. Depends on how much you fish, lots of guys that fish a lot average as many as 8-10 an hour for just your average 12-16" Trout, I've done much better and had days when I was glad to get a couple an hour. I fished maybe 4 hrs yesterday landed 35, had a lot hooked that I never landed, and I spent a good hour of that 4 hrs working and catching a 4 lb rainbow, and a 5 lb brown. Like anything else, practice makes perfect. Everybody is different, I still know guys that fish R R several times a year and never seem to catch more than 10-15 trout per trip. If you fish exclusively dry flies, you'll usually not catch as many, but I have caught 50 or more in a day fishing blue wing olives or caddis. I know a lot of guys that fish just a few hrs a trip(mostly locals) and average 8-10 trout an hour, and sometimes they do much better. So I guess it is hard to tell you what average really is, but the more you fish the better you'll get, and the more trout you will hook up, good luck, hope this helpful for you.
  13. Terry I gave Fowkes a big bunch of the same flies, and he doesn't share well.
  14. Ok Terry, they are a waiting for you. Hope you are ready for them, as they are the best and the newest of the flies I've been tying.
  15. Sunday won't be busy, unless it is a very nice day, but even then there is plenty of elbow room March 1st opening day of catch and keep season, is when people are shoulder to shoulder.
  16. Not usually that busy on opening day of C&R
  17. I fish there more during the winter than I do during the summer months, but I'm over there are few times a month nov-feb usually thru the week.
  18. ? there might be a few trout over there yet, might just take some walking and searching to find em. Good luck, post if you catch done, it will be a few weeks before I can get over there.
  19. Yep, that is probably what did it.
  20. Oh it is a only a few miles west of monett missouri about 3 miles south off hwy 60, I think there is a map on the MDC web page, there are a few signs but you have to watch close, nice little creek, but apperantly there are no trout there now
  21. Water is still low and clear, C&R season starts nov. 8th this year and should open with great fishing condtions, the water will be clear, not much rain expected the first few weeks in nov. Usually the hatchery stocks some nice fish and this year will not be different, the 100 or so 3-6 lb rainbows are ready to be stocked, and on top of that there will be several thousand more 12-16" trout stocked for the lucky anglers that fish during the winter C&R season. Big flies are good the first day or so, I usually start with a good sized woolybugger and then san juan worms and glo-balls will work all day, if you like nymphing then a pheasant tail, gold ribbed hares ear, copper john or a burlap in sizes #14-#18's will be very effective all day long. Still expect to see some good hatches all winter, we have midge activity everyday, small #20 and smaller para adams, or griffiths gnat in the same sizes will work for most of the midges. There will be Caddis, Blue wing olives and even a few sulphurs coming off most every day. Roostertails with a single hook and some feahters are legal during the C&R season, as are jigs and glo-balls, every year I hear that someone is fishing roostertail and they are irritated because they think it is illeagle, well it isn't missouri has a very broad interpitation of what a fly can be. You can spin fish anywhere you want in the park, during the winter C&R season, as long as you have a fly on the end of your line. I reccomend 2,3 or 4lb line the first weekend or two of C&R, as the fish become more wary we will all have to drop to 2, or 3 lb line, if you are fishing a spin rod, avoid braided, or flo. colored monofiliment lines, if you are fly fishing almost any of the fly leaders out there will work, remember cheap leaders in 2lb are often not 2lb dia. make sure if you are fishing a leader that is a 6X it tapers down to .005 and if it is a 7X it tapers down to a .004, if not it won't work well. I'm using 9' leaders all the time, I rarely use shorter leaders. Remember all plastic lures and rubber lures are ileagle to use, no powerbait is leagle and no lure with trebble hooks is alowed during the C&R season. So, no plastics, no rubber and no treble hooks. Dropper flies are allowed. Only zones 1 and 2 are open during the C&R season, stay out of zone 3, it is closed nov 1st-feb. 28 Good luck this year, the water looks good and should be a great C&R opening this year. 22. I'm sure they have all been caught out, no reason for any of us to go fish there now ?
  23. During the winter months, rainbows and browns roam all of table rock.
  24. Good looking fish, congrats
  25. Midges, caddis, and blue wing olives
