  1. your welcome adjust.... and p.s. if you decide to flip and pitch the brush towards the bank, be sure and work the bait all the way back to the boat. i pitched tubes a lot and would only bounce the bait a few times while it was in the brush and the burn it back to the boat. had a lot of fish boil on it at the boat as it was coming out of the water, the water has more color to it even on the main lake so they aren't as aware of the boat, causing some bites late in the retrieve. be quick enough to be efficient but give them every chance to eat it. marty, does this post and my previous post make any sense or did i make a mistake by running away from the creek so quickly?
  2. adjust...saturday i was there and put in a mutton creek. at the ramp at daylight i had a reading of 78 degrees, when i took out at about 4:00 i looked again at the ramp and it was 82 degrees. i was bass fishing and first ran up sac river looking for colored water, but i think that the recent weather kinda had the shallow fish freaked out, ran to the main lake and started catching some fish. so i seen a lot of different readings from shallow dingy water to the main lake water that was more clear and deeper. but dock to dock those are the readings i got.
  3. lilley, that is a great idea. i never thought of that, but i will try to set something up. i have never been a part of something like this and don't really know how to go about it. i just would rather the money get sent somewhere other than me just to keep people from getting the wrong idea. let me kick that idea around a little and see what i can do. thanks for the idea.
  4. thank you J.E. i appreciate it!
  5. this may be a little lengthy but please read. my cousins wife who happens to be the sweetest person you could ever ask to meet has been a diabetic since an early age. a few years back she was added to a donor list, and after a few years of constant worry and some of the worst luck you could ever imagine she recieved a kidney and pancreas transplant. afterwards she battled through what i would assume to be normal hurdles for someone in that situation, one big setback that i won't go into but it was simply negligence on the part of the hospital, after several months of driving to st. louis on a regular basis for check ups and doctor visits, she got back on her feet for the most part. then her employer decided that they could do without her and laid her off. now she was on my cousins insuriance through his work, but the hospital kept waiting to send out any kind of bills for some reason. in the mean time their insuriance company folded belly up and of course their new insuriance is refusing to pay for this, and you can only imagine what kind of bills this must be. so now they were living on my cousins paychecks, and just the other day he had to have an emergency surgery on his colon and he can't work for atleast 90 days. their short term disability won't kick in until after 90 days so that means no money coming in at all. imagine trying to explain this whole story everytime someone calls wanting to know where your truck payment or house payment is at. the reason for this long story is, i am wanting to have a benefit bass tourney to kinda help relieve some of their stress. nothing is set in stone but at this point i am leaning towards having it somewhere on table rock. i was wondering how many people would be interested in fishing it or have any advice that might help out. thanks for reading and God Bless!
  6. thank you guys for all of your help! i really appreciate it!!! don, your advice is exactly what i needed, it really helps me out to have detailed instructions. that way when i am trying it i feel like i might me making ground not just wasting my time. thanks again.
  7. this advice may not be much but it is as true as gospel and will apply to any part of table rock. so here goes...if you see a white and red ranger it is me, go the other direction and do the opposite of what i am doing. i am not on fish at all, i was for a little bit but they are long gone and i am trying to play catch up and just can't find them. lol hope this helps!
  8. i am wanting to get a lot better at reading my electronics for a lot of reasons, a big one being drop shotting. my question is although my locator is far from being top of the line, is it capable of being set up for drop shotting? it is a lowrance X 65. it has 160 X 160 megapixels which i know isn't great. i really don't know where to start so any info would really be appreciated.
  9. i am in desperate need of some helpful hints for the shell knob area. in the spring i was having good success around this part of the lake, consistantly catching solid limits (always catch and release). now that summer is here i am lost, from what i hear this isn't too uncommon on this part of the lake. i am looking help and advice on what i should be doing for the last few hours of daylight and overnight (to avoid a lot of playboat traffic). not asking for anyone to tell me their spots or anything too specific, just what kind of water, cover, maybe baits in general. let me say that i consider myself more of a power type angler but finding myself using a finesse rod more and more as i see it to be valuable on this deep clear pond. a dropshot is something i have never done but would love to learn so maybe one day i can talk mrs. carolina rig into letting me go with bill or don to learn this. guys let me say in advance i will appreciate any info you are willing to offer. carolina rig
  10. went to shell knob today and had a good time. i had heard reports of some bedding bass but wasn't expecting the numbers i found. i seen countless numbers of shallow bass cruising and found some locked on beds. only fished for two of the fish that were locked on beds as these were the biggest two i seen. i spent an hour and 20 minutes on the first playing the ole game of her grabbing my bait and swimmimg it ever so gently off of her bed before she finally bit the buisness end of my salt craw. she ended up being a 3.5lb. kentucky. the second one was an hour and 10 minutes of the same game, she turned out to be a 4lb. kentucky. the rain started and it made it impossible to see the beds, so i started paralleling the bank with a jerkbait and caught a lot of the cruising fish. ended up with probably 12 or 14 fish, 4 keepers going in the neighborhood of a 12lb. bag. had a blast and all fish were released quickly and healthy.
  11. not sure how the cove could possibly be private... i have fished those docks a lot and never had much trouble. one time some guy in a big house boat told me not to fish behind his boat because he was getting ready to leave. i just kept fishing and told him that i would get out of his way when he was ready to leave. i know there are signs saying no fishing around docks but this is my take on that. keep in mind i am in no way an authority on legal matters but that water is state owned, not private. and that also should include water in the slips and right up against the docks. as long as your bait doesn't hit there boat or bounce around on the dock they shouldn't have a leg to stand on. i personally know one guy who has a boat in those docks and i don't think too much of him. i can only assume the rest of those people are the same "big feeling, better than you types". it's a shame that it's come to be like this. people go to the lake to get away from this kind of people. if they were to tell me to leave i would be as polite as i could but point out that the water is state owned, and i have just as much right to fish it as the kids they have perch jerkin of that dock. i would say if you want to fish it then go ahead but be respectful of their property and don't let your boat or bait touch anything of theirs.
  12. thats great to see a kid getting into fishing. my i don't know how people don't ever get their kids into it. we have pictures of me laying in the boat when i was literally a baby. i grew up fishing and i am thankful for it. keep that young man into it and some day he will be thankful as well. we fished out of shell knob yesterday and our fish were on the main lake. we couldn't buy a bite in a cove, and the jerkbait was the only way to go other than a jig. congtrats!!!
  13. i am gonna be fishing out of shell knob this weekend, this is a part of the lake that i have never fished and i have historicaly struggled on table rock. so i was hoping that i might get everyones top five baits they would have on the deck of there boat if they were bass fishing the shell knob area this weekend.
  14. i am selling my 1987 winner bass boat. it's the 16 foot model and comes with a 50 hp. mariner. this boat has been well taken care of. the motor runs great and pushes the boat into the lower 30's. nearly new trailer tires. she comes with the following: 1. garmin 160 locator. 2. 2 butt seats 3. 2 regular seats. 4. life jackets 5. batteries she comes litterally lake ready...i will take my rods out and off you will go. this boat is small enough to get into tight places and yet she handles rough water really well for her size. i am selling her because i am starting to fish tournies and i need a bigger boat with a little more get 'er done. asking price is $3,200 (417)214-1986
  15. well like i said they have to be football heads. i would like brown with a little orange for sure. and maybe some watermelon green or whatever else you have in a natural color. i would like 4 or 6 of each in 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz. let me know what you think and what you can do. thanks a lot! carolina
  16. i am looking for some hair jigs, 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz. i have seen some on the internet but i know there are a lot of fly tiers on here and i thought maybe one of them would be interested in fixing me up as i would much rather buy them from a member than just some guy in NY. i have attached some pics along the lines of what i am looking for, but i really need them on a football head.
  17. i really like the baby brush hog, in fact if i'm not using pork that is about all i will use. never used their trailer so i can't give an opinion on that but i know that their jigs are quality and i would expect the same from their trailers.
  18. well to say it was a tough day would be an understatment. we put in at cowskin at 7:00 and started out by running up under the bridge. first we threw jigs and jerkbaits along steep banks, and chunk rock banks in around 20-25 feet of water, thinking these would be a good place to locate pre-spawners, not so much as a bite after an hour and a half. so in a desperate attempt to find some kind of a pattern we found and fished a stretch of a bank that had bluffs, chunk rock, and pea gravle, and baited docks. my way of thinking was if we could pick up a few we could form a pattern on what kind of bank or structure they came off of and eliminate a lot of unproductive water. well we did form a pattern but not what we were looking for as we still were yet to get bit. so it came down to a crappie rod and minnows, that is when it got interesting. dad hooked up with a 18lb. blue cat on 4lb p-line. the fight took close to 30 minutes when the smoke cleared the fish and dad were both spent, we weighed her and released her making our day not a complete loss. there we several tourney guys we talked to who had the same story as ours, the lake was full of boats running and not many fishing which told us everybody was struggling. to a lot of people this type of day is a complete wash but a day on the lake with dad and a few brews is never a bad day. i wish we would have went to twin bridges and had whites on our minds though. well that is my report in a nut shell but anyone else that went i would like to hear about your days. oh and by the way we seen a guy fall in the lake,so all things considered we did have a better day than some.
  19. yeah we were talking about putting in around elk river, after hearing from you i am leaning that way. let's just hope the weather is descent.
  20. dad and i are planning on going to grand this coming weekend. it's been a while since we have fished this lake and i don't think either of us have ever fished it this early. was kinda hoping someone on here could kinda point us in a general direction to find some bass. all info would help! thanks c-rig
  21. i really like reading your reports as well. i fish stockton a lot and it's good to have an idea of what to expect. thanks very much.
  22. mr. thompson...i just wanted to thank you for your frequent reports on stockton. i fish this lake a lot and it obviously helps to get a little heads up before i go. stockton is a lake that is hard to find fishing reports on. anyways i just wanted to say thank you!
  23. hi my name is kory johnson and my wife and i live just outside of carthage. i love fishing, mainly bass fishing. i fish stockton and table rock mostly but this year i plan on trying to figure out grand as well. i have been visiting the sight a lot latley and reading and learning from all of you so i thought i would join so i could get in on some of the gossip. looks like a great sight with a lot of great people, i hope that i can add to it. kj
