  1. Appreciate that and thanks for coming guys had a blast! Going back and listening to it....I am completely weirded out I have to admit. That could not have been easy to do Phil, again, great job! Brian
  2. Very cool Phil! Good work. I was a little sketchy to start off with this time...weird. Brian
  3. Phil may or may not have something up his sleeve. It was a good time for sure, I know I had fun.
  4. Again, it was good seeing you Tito. Spanked the fish that day! Brian
  5. Cool Steve! Looking forward to it! Brian
  6. Good to see you on the water today Tito! Brian
  7. 900 cfs + wading = tough...period. That much water (not that it is a TON of water but still) makes the cast that much farther, the water that much faster AND deeper all adding up on top of each other. Like Justin said you can have your indicator set perfect at the right depth and say that depth is 9'...if your total drift is 20' long your flies were on bottom for maybe 2 or 3' of that whole drift. There are a lot of things that can happen too if you are fishing that deep under an indicator the main one being you can get takes and the indicator will not show it--at all and if you are wading to waist deep chucking the heavy rig that is that deep it is a bear. Before you pony up for professional help come by the Springfield Naure Center next Thursday at 7....I'll see if I can't throw some tips at you. Brian
  8. Fished the islands the other day for just a little bit and the good water in between was completely stupid fishing. I was just messing with a new set-up, not really trying and just killed them. Bright sunny day with some BWO's coming off, a stone with a PT, Prince, or RFSN did really well. Tear 'em up!! Brian
  9. We have had pretty epic streamer fishing since right before Thanksgiving....I don't remember a Fall/Winter like this and hope we can have MORE!! Just a couple. Brian
  10. Thanks Justin, I completely forgot to let anyone on here know! The show went pretty well...and the fish in the aquarium had never seen a fly--and they LIKED it!! Brian
  11. Nice report Justin! That yellow\brown and yellow\rust tend to do REALLY well on high water....mistaken as a craw maybe? Well played with the sculpin, funny stuff. Brian
  12. Yeah, the first year we fished right at the 19 bridge. I lost 2 nice fish directly under the bridge and Tucker did well below it. Cool water right there. Thanks Eric! It is a lot of fun. Brian
  13. Getting the 4-Day pass is an art and one not taken lightly.....yeah, who am I kidding, I have so many honey-do's when we get back from the Odyssey I don't get out for a couple weeks! The Eleven Point is just too cool, such a neat stream. Brian
  14. Hey guys, Video and report are up here... Missouri Trout Odyssey Day 4 Enjoy, Brian
  15. Hey Buzz, that was probably Day 4 of the 2008 trip....I don't have Day 4 of the 2009 trip uploaded to youtube yet. Capps is gorgeous and is a photogs dream, and we saw a REALLY nice fish rise when we were there this year. I swear the fish I caught in 2008 at Capps was wild... Brian
  16. Took me a second....but THAT is good stuff! On a side note, the video for Day 4 will be up soon. (couldn't resist )
  17. I will simply re-post what I posted last night....no personal jabs. I do however want to thank all of the people that have given positive feedback--yada yada yada...being civil here. By the way, I was the one that fished Hickory Creek this year and I guess got my butt handed to me or something like that......I simply can't fish. Brian
  18. Guys, seriously thank you for saying what you think, good or bad. I personally take no offense from anything that has been said and like I said above we didn't have to catch a fish to completely and thoroughly enjoy being on any given stream....I personally didn't enjoy Hickory either---I don't know if I would have put it as colorfuly as Matt did in the report but it isn't a stream I would pursue, if I lived closer maybe. I guess you can look at it this way, on this trip we take we see 20 trout streams (21 this year) and out of those 20 all of them have their own little thing that will catch you even if that stream is not your favorite....I will be the first to give Hickory Creek a "holy crap I can't believe how GIN CLEAR" the water is (the hole on the upstream side of the bridge in town and almost directly under the bridge is deep and you could count the rocks if you wanted to) which is seriously something cool to me considering it runs through a town. The purpose of this trip isn't to get intimate knowledge with every stream we fish and we for sure don't claim to be experts on any of them (minus the North Fork of the White and "expert" is probably a little steep on that one too ), it turns out after doing this trip now for 2 years we have a more intense appreciation for the the state as a WHOLE, the trout streams that we are lucky enough to have in this state are CRAZY AWESOME and stepping foot on all of the (except Stone Mill) in 4 or 5 days is one whale of a good time and I hope and pray that someone else decides to do this trip to maybe understand and physically see what we have gotten to see in the last 2 years. Thanks guys! Brian
  19. I thought that might ruffle some feathers... First, that wasn't "my" assessment but I would agree that it for sure isn't my cup of tea. Now having said that Matt and I both agreed it would be cool to have a trout stream (even a complete put and take stream) running through our town....trust me, neither of us would argue with that! I don't doubt for a second that there are holdover fish there year-round and I was really impressed with the water quality...NOT stream cleanliness mind you...but water quality, it was gin clear in the spots we fished both years, but awfully trashy which is obviously a side-effect from being "in" a town without a doubt. We didn't have to catch a fish to thoroughly enjoy a stream, Mill Creek--can't wait to go back, even Barren Fork a stream that has little to no fish I can't wait to see again...Hickory just wasn't my cup of tea either. But Hickory Creek isn't the only stream like that....Stone Mill on Fort Leonardwood--NO WAY am I going to jump through the hoops involved to fish a stream that the stocking trucks run through a military base to get the fish to a stream and then they get fished out in no time--same concept I guess. Seriously not trying to ruffle feathers, but I seriously think that most fisherman wouldn't travel any great distance to fish a couple of these streams. Brian
  20. Hey guys, Report and photos from Day 3 of the "Odyssey" is up on the blog. Check it out here www.flyfishingtheozarks.com And here is the video: Let us know what you think. Brian
  21. Hey guys, Check out the video for Day 2 of the 2009 Missouri Trout Odyssey below. (looks best played in 720p by the drop-down box on the right in the video screen) For the full report and over 80 photos hit the link below: Fly Fishing the Ozarks Again, thanks Phil. Brian
  22. Hey guys, Had the chance to get on the river with a couple of regulars. We put in at Kelly Ford and floated to Blair, pretty much drifting the whole time. Fishing started off pretty slow, just picking up a handful of fish until the sun came up and it warmed up a little...then the bugs moved. From the Falls to Blair fished very well with a 21" brown coming out of Jack's Riffle right there at ROLF. 95% of the fish came on the olive or yellow and rust rubber-legs with the other 5% coming on Psycho Princes, Pheasant Tails, or a RFSN. Brian
  23. Yeah txspecks04, I was thinking the new fly fishing film "Once in a Blue Moon" was about the beverage....and got excited. But much to my chagrin it was only about huge trout taking mouse patterns. Brian
  24. NICE FISH!
  25. Hey guys, Matt Tucker and I did the trip to all the Missouri Trout Streams, which has been dubbed the Missouri Trout Odyssey, again over Thanksgiving weekend. This time we had more emphasis on the video and photography side of it....and Matt's photography really POPPED this year. Anyway, we have the Day one (of 5) report, video, and photos posted on the blog. I really wanted to get it on here but there are 80 photos along with the video and Phil ok'd me to use an external link to my blog so here you go, let us know what you think! See Day 1 Video, Report, and Photos Here We'll probably post a day a week for the next few weeks so more to come! Thanks! Brian
