  1. Eh.....streamer water!
  2. NNNNOOOOOOO!! It won't blow out, it won't blow out.....
  3. I have often wondered how flies like these would do scaled down a lot for creeks like Mill, BSC, Crane, etc. Defenitely something to think about. Thanks! I tell you what, you come down and tie a Full Dress and I will shoot video of it and throw it together. My Full Dress would probably be about as good as a 6 year olds. I am slowly learning.....one of these days I will poke myself enough that I have perma-holes in my thumb and wont' have to worry about it.
  4. HA! This is an insanely easy fly to tie.....and hint hint, I personally feel like you could use wool instead of deer hair on this fly and be just fine. The deer hair is a must on flies like the Dungeon or they turn into flies that jig but this has NO weight so a little bit of weight in the head from we wool would still get some great movement out of this fly. I'm not a big "jigging" action guy for big browns, the jigging action is like crack for rainbows though.
  5. I guess you are right....just like the "Tips Up" is now the "Bottom's Up" the Heifer Groomer and the Fat Head are one in the same. I will change add that to the name, thanks.
  6. Recipe: Rear Hook Hook: Umpqua U301 (or any 3xl streamer hook) Body/Tail: Marabou (palmered) Wing: Mallard Flank Articulation Point: Beadalon 3 Glass Beads Front Hook Hook: Gamakatsu B10s Flash: Flashabou Body: Marabou (palmered) Wing: Mallard Flank Head: Deer Hair You guys are kind of my eyes and ears as to what the rest of the fly tying world is going to like. You have made these videos insanely popular and I can't thank you enough. SO....the beginning of this video is a sneak preview of some new work that I am doing with a new video camera....I have joined the DSLR video crazy and you should be able to tell from the beginning of this video. Next up is the Barely Legal, followed by the Boogyman and then we jump to Mike Schmidt's patterns. And, some pretty cool news. I am working with Phil on the main site and will be releasing all of my new tying videos on the new "Videos" page on Ozark Anglers which can be found here..... http://www.ozarkangl...y-tying-videos/ Also we have added several, several other videos from all over on this page and will continue to add to it as we find more so check it out! Also, I will be doing a program at the Southern Council Conclave this year and in addition to the North Fork of the White programs I will be doing I will also do programs on Fly Tying and Fishing Videos....from equipment (low end to high end) to editing and everything in between.
  7. Well done Russ!
  8. Hey guys, I have never done this before but I have a couple of rods that are too good to just sit around and not be fished. Looking to sell or trade each of them and they are listed below: Redington CPX 10' 6" 5wt Switch Rod. This rod has probably been on the water a dozen times (if that), I got it to do some switch casting demos with and really didn't fish it much at all. $250 -- Redington CPX 9' 5wt. I have 2 of these and one of them is my standard go-to boat rod for clients and nymphing myself.....this one has been fished maybe a dozen times as well. $200 Will also consider a trade on mid to higher end 7-8wt rod and or reel
  9. Glad to see these videos fire some of you guys up to tie some of these things. With the fish we have been catching on the NFOW with them, I hope the winter video fires you up to FISH them!! I would call shedding blood for tying simply me being clumsy....but fanatic sounds better. I am going to shoot the Fat-Head and Barely Legal tonite. I am guiding quite a bit coming up so it may be next week before I get done editing those but I would say to look for the Fat-Head video next week. After those I think I am going to start on Mike Schmidt's patterns like the Double Deceiver, Meal-Ticket, Vodoo Squatch, and the like. REALLY excited about doing the Double Deceiver...THAT is going to be a cool video.
  10. MEAT EATER!! Gluttonous piggies, those NFOW rainbows are!
  11. Sheet metal screws are a lot better than the super hard anodized cleats that are $40. There is something about a super, super hard metal on slick limestone that just doesn't make sense to me. BUT, the new Aluminum cleats are solid....if you have ever floated in an old aluminum canoe on low water you will know exactly what I am talking about. I have to question the durability of the aluminum studs but there is no doubt they are probably the best studs out there.
  12. Great, if the video is 13 minutes and you don't have any music, "fixing", or effects then I don't see you getting any smaller in size without totally losing all of your quality. I have DSL with a middle-of-the-road speed and my tying vides still take a while to upload. I usually upload right before I go to bed and it is typically done by the time I get up.
  13. Sculpin Helmets scare me.....I am just waiting to hear about someone life ending by taking one of those to the head. I dig the Fish Skulls. Tied a bunch of Ice Picks with them--Great Success!
  14. 150mb is crazy small for a video that is under 10 minutes anyway. Are you wanting a smaller file size for an easier Youtube upload or for another reason? My file sizes are anywhere from 500mb to 1gig in HD and where I live we don't have really, really fast internet so my upload time is usually around 7-8 hours. What program are you editing with?
  15. Exactly. I use the same hook on bigger bodied flies that are getting a lot of movement from material, like Double Deceivers but for the most part I will go a little smaller on the back hook.
  16. HA! I wanted to add more Shaggy Dub (tiny rubber legs) and a little Ice Dub to my Wiggle Dub so I just threw them together in the same little ziplock bag that the Wiggle Dub comes in...stuck the little straw in the bag and POOF the stuff went everywhere. It was actually hilarious.... I felt like Elmer Fudd after Bugs Bunny bent his shotgun barrel around. I had never thought about using a jar of any kind, makes MUCH more sense!
  17. Very cool. Kind of a "Tim the Toolman Taylor" way of doing what I do....a ziplock bag and canned air.
  18. Thanks! I am having fun doing them. Will probably do the Fat Head next and follow that up with some of the others. I will probably do a Barely Legal.....but no promises that it will be "exactly" like Galloup's. As you can tell, I have tweaked all of the patterns a touch anyway (mostly hook choice) but it will be close. The good thing about tying is even if it doesn't look exactly like the pattern that you are imitating......it will still catch fish, guaranteed.
  19. It is a Dai Riki 700B. Not the biggest fan of Dai Riki for streamers but for this little guy it works well.
  20. That's cool Phil! With all those cameras you are a regular Les Stroud.
  21. umm....... (that's right, I just quoted myself and then made fun of it.)
