    Golf

Tippet I agree I could use some of that warm weather myself. As for you guys being able to sponser a hole in the charity tournament that is really admirable, keep up the good work. I would like to venture down to branson and play a couple courses. Well maybe I'll see ya on the greens or at the lake
  2. Trav do you realize that if you stopped stocking certain species that some of the world records that have been caught and recorded would never have come to be. I enjoy walleye hybrids, trout ect, I think we should be thankful that we live around an area that boasts such a wide variety of fishing and hunting for several different species. Sorry that in your opinion stocking of species such as those I mentioned should cease but as for the majority of people on this site I believe that we all love pursuing the variety of fish and game offered around here. I hope that you realize how lucky you are to live around such an awesome area. This is for sure an outdoorsmans paradise, people drive for hours to come fish and hunt in missouri. Just think you live right on the lake, most people dream of being able to walk out their back door and fish. Just a thought but it may be the perspective in which you are viewing the situation. It seems God has blessed you with being able to do all the fishing you want please enjoy it.
  3. If your flyfishing then try scuds and midges just experiment with color. Stop by any one of the flyshops around branson and the staff is pretty good about helping you find the right flys along with instructions on presentations and tips. If it's breezy out try softhackles and cracklebacks they can be a ton of fun to fish. Hope you have a great day and catch a bunch.

    Golf

Well with spring approaching slowly is anyone else ready to hit the links. Just wondering how many golfers are out there. I really enjoy playing and the Springfield/Branson/LOTO have some great courses. Golf is one of those sports that just when you think youve got it figured out it humbles you, kinda like fishing and hunting haha. Well if this ice would ever melt away I need to start hitting a few range balls. God bless and I hope everyone has a good day.
  5. Terry nice to see someone from the bootheel area. Yeah duck hunting in that neck of the woods is unbelievable. I still go back to Poplar Bluff to visit the folks and smoke some birds. Let me know if you ever want to come duck hunting I try to go as much as possible. Over here stockton, and four rivers, along with schell osage CA have some great duck hunting. I don't think that the birds recieve as much pressure coming down the central flyway as they do when they come down the eastern flyway(SE mo, NE Ark.) Therefore they are not as cautious, most of the time it's like taking candy from a baby hahah. Well anyways good to see some fellow duckhunters. Guys keep posting and have a good day.
  6. Trav about the walleye yes there is some natural reproduction but not enough to sustain walleye as a gamefish. Look at all the lakes around here that have good walleye populations BS, Greers Ferry, Stockton, all those lakes have a small percentage of natural reproduction as the fish run up the rivers to spawn but none of them could sustain a population that would allow anglers to pursue them with success. Almost all of the walleye that we fish around here come from conservation milking the females as they run up the river. Most walleye are hatchery raised. There are exceptions such as black river, and current river as well as others but those rivers don't recieve near the pressure that these lakes around here recieve. Even if you were to knock down the powersite dam, the walleye that you would see run up to tablerock dam would be those stocked into BS lake. As for MDC doing anything about the situation I guarantee that they would be more than willing to help if you could get some other people involved. They have always been more than helpful when I had questions about lake management ect. Remember these guys have a busy scheduel just like you and I but most of them are willing to listen and make suggestions. You cant always assume peoples reactions sometimes you have to politely ask. I would like to see taney improved in any way possible as I enjoy fishing it the same as you and everyone else who post on this website. Give them a call, if there is anything that anglers can do to improve it post something on the website. Talk to Mr. phil about the problem he has the ability to get a lot of other anglers involved. Anyways hope this helps.
  7. Brother ur a lucky man, I have been fishing the lake for about 18 years now and it is my favorite place hands down. All the guys around springfield think that tablerock and bullshoals are it, little do they know hahah. Well lets just try and keep it a secret. My family is going to buy one of the cabins at devils fork when marian sells the resort. Thats where I always stay when I go. I miss the lake for sure and also lake front restraunt. Well untill then keep me posted on the walleye bite, that world record is in there for sure. My dad caught one that went 13lbs, and I have caught a couple around 8lbs but still searching for the monster. Keep up the good work. Ryan Clark
  8. Just wondering if there were any duck hunters out there. Where are you from, what kinda calls do you blow ect. Was wondering how everyones season went this year. Do any of you hunt in OK or KS. Kill any bands or neck collars this year? Im from Poplar Bluff Mo but have lived in Springfield for the last 3 years. I really enjoy hunting four rivers, Schell and Stockton. Local farm ponds and fields seem to be covered in ducks/geese at any given time but it's almost impossible for me at least to get permission. Back in Poplar Bluff I enjoy hunting Coon Island and Otter slough. Well just thought I would throw this out there.
  9. I think that controlling the milfoil/hydrilla (weeds) would be a great solution but consider this. In most cases special exceptions allowed if you got rid of the aquatic growth in taney you would see the fishing (quality, numbers ect.) decline. The reason there are no longer walleye in taney is due to the fact that they don't stock, I think taney could support a great walleye population and as for the rest of the fishing it may just be due to the lake getting older, more pressure ect. Every body of water peaks at some point and then starts to drop off. Who knows taney may recover to the lake that you remember but this just may be part of the cycle. As for a practical solution talk to conservation. My buddy is a fisheries biologist for MDC and I am sure he could refer you to someone in this area since he works at LOTO. I have talked to MDC several times about my parents lake in Poplar Bluff (15 acres) about stocking shad ect. and just improving the quality of fish they have always been really great in helping me.
  10. Do you live in the area?
  11. Was wondering if anyone out there knows of any good farm ponds/fields that would be a good lease for ducks and geese. I found some really good places last year up around bolivar and arcola but nobody wants you to hunt. I even offered to pay to hunt and people just look at you like you were crazy. I realize that a few bad apples ruins things for everyone but I am very responsible and respectful when hunting other peoples property. There are plenty of great public places around to hunt but I was just curious as to whats out there in the form of leases. I will say that if some one allows me to hunt on their property I will be more than willing to take you along and let you do all the shooting, I just love to call and watch the birds commit. If anyone has any information or would just like to go hunting and knows a spot let me know I will be glad to take you even if you have never hunted waterfowl before. If the birds are there than I will for sure kill em, If anyone has any info just send me a PM and I will gladly respond.
  12. Im thinkin fender hot rodded deville would be alright
  13. Do you fish for bullheads anymore. I use to fish for them when I was a kid and they were a ton of fun to catch, not bad eating either but I havent fished for any in a long time. Do you ever try using crappie lights on the lower lake for whites and crappies?
  14. If you like a les pauls fat tone you should play a Paul reed smith. What kinda amps do you guys play through? Ive gotta marshal half stack (way to much) and a carvin studio amp thats my favorite (awsome tone) fat clean with the right amount of crunch. I just got a Boss Digital recorder thats awsome, you can loop tons of different drum tracks lay down your rhythm and then play over it with lead. You can even go back and dub mistakes. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to record or plays alone.
  15. Iv been playing for about 8 years now and I love it if Im not playing my electrics, then I am sitting around picking one of my acoustics. I play all kinds of music and always love hearing good guitar. I have really been working hard on developing better fingerstyle, and the purcussive latin style. All great fun, happy pickin. What kinda gear do you all play? I have an Ibanez artwood acoustic/electric along with an ovation, and for electrics I have a peavy wolfgang, Paul Reed Smith Santan, and a fender strat.

    Mossberg

I shoot 3 inch shells now as my gun isn't chambered for 3.5 inch shells but I would like the extra punch for snows/specks/canadas. Some days when your taking 35-40 plus yard shots it makes a huge difference. You can still kill as many ducks as you want with 3 inch shells and geese also you just have to be a little more selective with your shots. I guess what I am trying to say is I want a new toy haaha. Thanks for the info about the stoger though I really appreciate that. Have a good day
  17. My buddy was showin me some of his crankbaits and jerkbaits that he had custom painted by fall creek lures and those things look awsome. Wiggle warts and rouges of all different colors, the finish and detail was really amazing. My favorite was a crawfish pattern with a little purple in it. I love a PBJ jig so I can imagin this being a hot color. I know he throws them alot and really catches some fish. I think they are kinda expensive but if anyone is looking for some great patterns take your lures to them. I don't own any myself but look forward to buying some. Well thats my two cents.
  18. At my parents lake they feed the catfish floating fish pellets (the same stuff they use at the trout hatchery) I have caught them on hoppers when they are coming up to feed. Anglers and archers in branson sells some hatchery food patterns that I am sure would work well.
  19. Try fishing the middle fork/devils fork/and hill creek areas. The Walleye should be staging as they get ready to move up the rivers to spawn. My guess would be that with those water temps you may be able to start finding some males pretty far up the river. People always say january is early to start fishing the rivers but I know from experience that it is not. Greers ferry is an absolute gem when it comes to walleye. Give the rivers a try and let me know how you do, do you live in the area? I fish the lake quite a bit and will look for you next time I am out on the water. I live in springfield Mo so I am chomping at the bit to get down there and fish. In other words I am jealous haha. Good luck

    Mossberg

the 935 shoulders awesome and I have two other mossberg shotguns that I really enjoy shooting. As far as recoil is concerned shooting 3.5 shells for ducks isn't bad at all. 3.5 steel is 10 times lighter than 3.5 lead. I know mossberg is a really dependable gun and that they are great about repairs. I like the super black eagle and SBE II but just don't feel like spending the money for minimal differences.
  22. My folks live in Poplar bluff MO and there has been a mountain lion around their house for about 4 years. The neighbor down the road called conservation and they came out and looked around and said basically don't worry they are a very elusive animal. My mother saw it cross the road about a year ago, I have seen its tracks down by the creek where I bow hunt.
  23. Looking for a good mossberg 935 synthetic or any good used semi auto that is chambered to shoot 3'5 inch shells
  24. I would love to try and make a meeting and yes I am the same guy that posts occasionally on greers. Thanks for the info and I look forward to trying to make a meeting.
  25. Wondering if anyone has any info on the springfield bass club. I heard they meet the first monday of every month at sunshine lanes. I would love to get involved and fish a few tournaments, the problem is I am unavailable to meet on mondays due to prior engagements. I am going to try and fish a few tournaments in the hearland this year with my buddy mike lucas but would like to fish some smaller club tournaments. Thanks ryan clark
