  1. It's a great cause. I too am glad I participated. Thanks Tim.
  2. The best place to find smallmouth on Capps would be below the lower accsess down to where it enters Shoal Creek. I haven't been down for a few months, but with the heat they may be moving up into Capps for a chance at some cooler water.
  3. Great pictures.
  4. Great report Cricket.
  5. This was brought up a few months back http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27198 I hope you carry a GPS.
  6. Theres no use in arguing guys. Both methods will work. I personally use only 2 lb. for my lighter/smaller flies because I think the smaller diameter allows the fly to get down deeper faster. If I'm throwing buggers or any other streamer I will move up to 4 lb. line simply for the reason that I believe the fish will have less time to notice the line size as the bigger fly zips by, plus it tends to have a better knot strength when you set the hook with the bigger fly. Just my experience and practice. Carry on.
  7. Sounds like a fun trip
  8. I fished Crane on Fathers Day morning for about 3 hours. I had good luck below the city park. I used 2 lb. P-Line and a two fly rig under an indicator. I caught fish on each fly that I tied on, but the dropper outfished the other fly 3 to 1. I usually have a weightless fly like a hares ear nymph or PT nymph under a zebra midge or some other weighted fly. I tie several different buggy looking tungsten beadhead midges that work very well at Crane. I found that stealth is the key for the bigger fish and long casts will help with that. As wild as Crane is a long cast is somewhat relative, but still a good thing to remember. I too had a few refusals, but chalked that up to the fish seeing me, since they would follow the fly for a long time and then just disappear into the deeper water never to be seen again. As Gavin said, if you don't catch a fish or you catch a few and they shut off just move up to the next hole and try it again.
  9. Very nice flies Ronnie. That last photo is beyond cool. Thanks for posting.
  10. I am not a fan of snakes, any snakes. Especially when they have me cornered. I would have freaked. On a side note: How was the fishing/catching? What flies worked? We're thinking about about a family vaction in that area next year. Buzz
  11. Fish early and really work the fast water. The dam would be a good place to start then drive down to the lower parking area and work your way up or down. Upstream has some good fast runs that may produce in this heat. Capps can be hit or miss in the summer, but there are still fish in there. Downstream is your best chance to hook up with some smallmouth. If you make it down to where it flows into Shoal Creek the chances get even better.
  12. That's a great looking rod. Count me in for a few raffle tickets.
  13. Very well done. Thanks, I enjoyed it.
  14. I fly fish exclusively at Roaring River and have seen all of the things that have been mentioned previously. Have any of you guys had any encounters with that special fly fisherman that sees you walking, actually turns head to you and makes eye contact, then just as you get about to the spot that you would let him know you were going to pass he decides that he needs to make 5 or 6 false casts to dry his fly or whatever? That is just as rude as the people who pass by without a clue. If I see someone coming up behind me, even if my fly is at the end of it's drift, I will let it lay until I can cast safely. Just saying, I've seen it go both ways.
  15. Nice. Thanks for the pic.
  16. Great song from a local talent. Thanks.
  17. That's a great idea Tim. I would be interested in the raffle more so than the auction, but they are both excellent ways to raise money for a good cause. Let us know what you decide. Count me in. Buzz
  18. Yep, the same bunch. They have the children carrying signs. My wife and I are going to be at the memorial tomorrow. I don't give a rats @$$ about westboro, but they better not get in my way. Just sayin'.
  19. I had a few problems too. I finally figured out how to use the " Compatibility View Settings". Click on tools on your brouser window. It allows you to choose the website that you are on or choose all. I chose all. It seems to work pretty good.
  20. That's good to hear.
  21. Thanks Leonard.
  22. His last name is Kirk. She goes to the new East Middle School out on east 20th street. I haven't heard how it withstood the storm. 3 of the 10 schools were destroyed and a couple sustained quite a bit of damage. Joplin School District has plans to start school on August 17. Not sure exactly how, but they must have a plan. I just hope it doesn't include a bunch of trailers.
  23. I know of a few lakes that have slot limits and they really want you to take the smaller fish out. Lamar and Bushwhacker both are like that. I have never taken any from either lake, but I understand why they want you to. I'm sure that the state limit still applies.

They have been getting truckloads of supplies over the last 3 days. I think it is wonderful and unbeleivable that so many people have donated so much that there are few places to store it. A few big donations are going to help out a bunch. I am proud to say that I have worked for TAMKO for nearly 22 years. Not shown is the 1 Million that The Home Depot donated and the $10,000 dollars that the Carthage High School Seniors donated from their Project Graduation Fund and a few others that I can't remember. I have never seen such an outpouring of help in my life. Today they announced that there were 600 people doing searches and clean-up. As these people wear out they will need more volunteers to help with the clean-up effort. http://www.joplinglobe.com/local/x370469506/TAMKO-gives-1-million-to-American-Red-Cross-for-relief-efforts http://www.joplinglobe.com/local/x1934379419/Wal-Mart-donates-1-million-to-relief-efforts
