I too stopped by there yesterday. I caught two trout and jumped off four others. Also caught two goggle-eye and a sucker that went close to two pounds.

We'll do it, that's for sure. I'm also looking forward to floating with you guys. Now I just gotta figure out how to get my fix this weekend. I might head down to Roaring River Sunday if we don't get any (very much) snow and the river isn't all muddied up from the rain.

I have been looking at the thread leaders also. I would be interested in your experiments with Vasoline and Scotchguard after you have tried them out.

I tend to agree. What is it they say? If you don't like the weather just wait a minute! Typical Missouri weather, 3 weeks great weather, but the one weekend you plan something it all goes out the window. If it doesn't work this weekend we will have to plan a summer trip. It doesn't matter if you get wet then. If it does change for the better, you know where I'll be.

'Bear Removers.' A man wakes up one morning in his Alaska home to find a bear on his roof. So he looks in the yellow pages and sure enough, there's an ad for 'Bear Removers.' He calls the number, and the bear remover says he'll be over in 30 minutes. The bear remover arrives, and gets out of his van. He's got a ladder, a baseball bat, a shotgun and a mean old pit bull. 'What are you going to do,' the homeowner asks? 'I'm going to put this ladder up against the roof, then I'm going to go up there and knock the bear off the roof with this baseball bat. When the bear falls off, the pit bull is trained to grab his testicles and not let go. The bear will then be subdued enough for me to put him in the cage in the back of the van.' He hands the shotgun to the homeowner. 'What's the shotgun for?' asks the homeowner. 'If the bear knocks me off the roof, shoot the dog.'

I guess I might need a longer paddle. I just saw the weather also. Like Chief said Saturday might be cold. Sunday is supposed to be 60. I checked the creek today after the rain and it still looks as good as it did last week. I hope we don't get anymore major rain. As far as it maybe being colder on Saturday, any suggestions, thoughts?????

LOL........I'll put it this way, my wife says I like beer toooooo much. I think Chief will have to speak for himself on this one. As for the front of the canoe goes, I'm sure we can work something out. I'm sure you know when to pick up the paddle. Other than all you have to do is enjoy the ride and catch some fish.

That sounds great. 8:30 at Lime Kiln is best. We can work out the rest of the logistics when everyone shows up. BTW, great avatar CDC.

Yeah, I saw that is supposed to be 55 on Saturday too. We'll have to wait a little longer to see for sure. My other concern is how much rain we get between now and then. I hope it misses us and doesn't muddy the creek up any. If it doesn't I think we can find some willing fish. I understand your situation and we want you to join us for sure but, we don't want you miserable either. I'm still watching the weather. There are a lot of tornado watches around here right now. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

FFM, I can see that I will have to do some experimenting to find out the best ways for me use them. I throw a lot of dries and streamers along with several nymphs and midges. I'm looking forward to using it though. I was thinking about a 6' leader since I normally use a 9', I would only have to add about 3 or 4 feet of tippet material. Not too sure about strike indicators yet, I'll have to try it and see. Buzz

Not sure when it was changed either. That's why all of the confusion. I didn't notice it either until I read the posts today. The Spring River is a long river that begins up near Monett, Mo and travels many miles until it hits Grand Lake making it's way through three states. We can use the "Other Ozark Waters" without any problem.

Nice fish Chance. I bet that one put up a great fight. Thanks for the report.

Flipping jigs into the lay downs in the morning and finally catching them on the rocky banks. They sure weren't wanting to chase anything but, when you hooked one they put up one heck of a fight. I can't believe we caught so many more Kentucky's than Largemouth. Definitely a different kind of day. Hope to see you down here Wader.

Nice looking jigs crappie crippler. Glad you guys had a good day on the creek.

Thanks for all of the great information everyone. I really appreciate and respect each and every opinion. The poll votes show that about 73% of voters use furled leaders of one type or another and 80% would recommend them to other fishermen. I think I'll be placing an order this week. I am really looking forward to using it the next time I get down to Roaring River.

Sorry fishinwrench, I misunderstood. I see what you are talking about now.

That was some game today. I was beginning to wonder if they were going to pull it off. It turned out to be a pretty close game. If they do play on Saturday, and I am hoping they will, I bet we can get some updates one way or the other.

Most in-lines spinners are attached by a C shaped piece that allows the spinner to rotate around the shaft of the bait. If it is pinched too close or spread apart too far that would keep the blade from turning. If you bought it new it may just be a defect on that one lure and you should return it. If you have more baits of the same brand that do the same I would return them all and upgrade to a better bait.

The only furled leaders that I have found that have the steel ring are from Feather Craft. The mono prices are about even with what the others that I've found cost. The Flourocarbon are about $5.00 more than some. I do like the idea of the steel ring though. Is the untwisting problem a characteristic to all furled leaders? I like to fish nymphs, streamers and dries. I am just wondering if I would have to change or remove it if I wanted to throw a heavy streamer? Catman, do you buy yours or make them yourself? After checking out Drews post I noticed that dffurledleaders sells furled thread leaders at a very reasonable price. How well do they work on the bigger bugs? I looked at dffurledleaders.com. The prices are pretty good, especially on the flourocarbon. My only worry is the loop to loop for the tippet. I'm pretty careful but I'm sort of afraid I might get a little carried away and nic the leader. I'm not sure if it would be easy enough to tie another loop and carry on. Df is having a pretty good sale right now, buy two, get one free. I will be be using a furled leader soon. I just have to decide which one I will go with. Thanks again for all of the good input. Buzz

Ok, I went back and fixed the poll. I apreciate all of the info. Thanks.

Welcome aboard crappie crippler. Looking forward to you posts. Buzz

Well, I'm sure what the boss doesn't know won't hurt him too much. If you need someone to ride along with you we should be able to fix you up, I hope. If not maybe someone has an extra seat. We still have some time left. We'll see what we can do. Which would you rather do? Buzz

I have tried the store bought (basic) leaders and have yet to see any advantage. Honestly, I think they suck. I have been looking at furled leaders, but they are somewhat expensive. I am the ultimate cheap donkey, so I would like to know from all of the guys on this forum if they use them and if they are worth the expense. It seems to me that they might be worth it in the long run. My first time polling, so bear with with me, I know it's a short list. Any suggestions are welcome. I mostly fish for trout at R.R and the local white ribbon areas. Buzz
