  1. Coming to the rock on wednesday. All the way from wisconsin. First visit to the lake. Been reading post on this site since march. Learned a ton from you guys talked to a few of you directly. thank you. Been looking and I see that it is quite warm down there. What are the water temps looking like around Shell knob??? what stage are the fish at? are they spawning? done spawning? How is the top water action. I have read about a little bit of it but has it fully turned on yet??? Any info would be appreciated. Jordan Wilcox
  2. Thanks so much for all of the input. With each reply it gives me a little better idea of what to bring and how to go about fishing the lake. Without your input the trip would be a bust. Any additional info you have is needed.
  3. Another question to go with that, r u just using some C-tail grubs or is there something else that you find works well?
  4. Hello everyone, I stumbled across this site while looking for information a few days ago about a trip that i am planning. I have talked to a few of you already and find that the trip is just looking better and better. I live in a small town of about 3000 people, Amery WI. Right now we are buried with about 2 feet of snow and we still have another month of winter to go even before i can think about digging my boat out of storage. I fish for Crappies and Blue gills durring the winter through the ice. When spring rolls around we have to wait until usually about the first week in may to start fishing for game fish again. Largemouth bass are in about every lake around here. It really is hard to find one without them. That is what i do, I BASS FISH!!! Most days in the summer, when i am not working, I am out on the lake in search of the monster. There is an abundance of lakes to fish, but the average size is between 500-1000 acres. Don't let the small lake sizes fool you into thinking that i have never caught any big fish. I have a 22 1/2 inch. Large mouth that weighed 7lbs 3oz live weight. 6lb 8oz one week later after being frozen. This is showed as my personal picture, and yes that was about 7 years ago now. Last summer my best fish was 5lbs 4oz. Since my 7 pounder, which is on my wall, I can count the number of bass i have kept, and only kept those because they were dead, on one hand. I fish a few local tournaments for fun and have started fishing the Fishers' of Men Tourney Trail. My brother has been fishing them for years but i am just starting now that i am going to be out of school this coming summer. Fishing isn't just something to pass the time for me, it is a full blown obsession. Most important of all is my faith in Jesus Christ. I have been raised in a christian home and highly regard the values of my parents. I take my walk with god very seriously. Well if you have made it through reading all of this i am really looking forward to talkin' fishin you. Thank you for reading and God Bless Jordan Wilcox
  5. If you have seen the weather in the past two weeks, wisconsin has gotten hit by two storms one right after the other. Last Thursday we had school, sent us home early because snow was worsening. We shouldn't have gone at all, but we did anyway. Leaving school i arrived home only to get a call on my cell phone from my best friend. He began hysterical telling me about a car accident he seen and thought he recognized one of the cars. Turns out two girls lost their lives in that head on collision. They were both 16 and high school sophmores. It was one of my good friends girlfriend driving. I am asking you to pray for healing of not only friends and family, but for a highschool and community. Our little town is only about 3,000 people, and this is the third highschool death in the last six months. Thank you for your prayer.
  6. This spring will be my first trip to Table Rock. We have a group of guys from the north that love to bass fish and are coming in search of a good time. I am not coming until April, but I'm starting to prepare already. I have read many articles so far and still have almost no clue on what to bring. I have read of people having success on Smithwick Rogue Jerkbaits along with X-raps. Purple back is what i have read to be a must have along with Natural shad colors as well as white. There are many sizes and depths ranges of those baits so, What should i bring? Carolina Rigs are a go to rig for most bass fisherman, What about Table Rock? One of the best plastics i have found to use with them is either a zoom brush hog, or just a plasic worm of various styles and colors. Watermellon, pumpkin, and black are some of my go to colors. Will they work? Jigs are one of my biggest producers all season. I have read a lot about the Jewel football jigs being used on TR. Why those over others? I have have used the Jewel Eakins jigs with much success. PB&J is one of my best colors along with pumpkin, and black/blue. Should I be investing in some football jigs for the trip? and if so what colors? As far as rods go there is no way i can bring them all. For sure I am going to bring my med. action spinning rods, but i am not sure if i should throw in my casting gear or not. There are times around home when i use a heavy action rod with super braid line. Will anything like that be neccesary on TR? Any information would be much appreciated. I am looking forward to the trip, and just want to be prepared to make the best use of my time. If there is anything that i must have that i have left out please let me know.
  7. With the runoff that occurs what are the water conditions like? Murky, Clear, stained?????? With the clarity of the water comprimised are some colors and presentaions rendered useless?
