a work buddy and I went out this morn about 7:45 to a sweet spot my bud always goes to below cedar grove. we were fishing for about 30 min getting a few nibbles he was using his spinning rod, i had my fly rod with some white and red streamers i tied up fishing the current breaks. about 8:15 we saw this dude come running down the other side of the river on top of a bluff and threw in about 50 or so trout out of a net. me and my bud looked at each other kinda puzzled then the conservation dude came back with another load of em.. had to be 100-150 fish.. so we were like "ought to be fish in here now!!!" so after about 2 hours.. we started catching the crap out of em. fun day. c&r'd most of them except 3 a piece for dinner. they were hitting anything though. anything that moved a little bit would trigger a bite. water was super super clear. not ever day you get your favorite hole stocked.. my buddy said he had never seen them stock here before. so it was a nice suprise. saw a few of the darn otters fishin that morn. hope to go back in a few days and see if they are still bitin good.

this is just like the ones you see the canoe outfitters use. 2 seats and 2 bars in the middle of the boat. not a stern back.. good shape. needing 200 obo for it. the boat is located in Doniphan mo but i can deliever it to poplar bluff, or eminence area.

are talkin hairy as in difficulty level and obsticals or hairy as in shallow and tricky to navigate without dragging... i am pretty experienced in a canoe.

My big boat is an 18x56 blazer ss with a 90 on the back.. my little boat now is a 16x48 monark jon boat with a 40 horse johnson tiller handle on the back. looking for probably a 16 or 17x52" what are some of the lightest newer aluminum welded boats out there? looking for cheap also, this is my upper river and gigging boat so it pretty much is going to have a floor and seats and thats it

i love my sub in my boat.. it makes for a very nice well balanced system. gotta love the haven't high sq on the water i have my amp connected to a switch though so if i am float fishing i can kill the sub so it won't scare the fish and i can still have some music in the background

in my big river boat. 18'x56" aluminum blazer super sport i am running an alpine mp3 head unit(don't remember number) in a marine h/u waterproof box, the ones that have the flip up lid to access the unit. work great. had it in there for a year and no problems. then for highs and mids i am running 2 6" kicker marine and 2 6x9 clarion marines. and under my back hatch i have a 10" kicker marine sub powered by a 600watt kicker marine amp. the only thing that i have found really is worth spending the extra cash on marine stuff is the amp. i have went through 2 or 3 regular car amps due to moisture and water damage... this one has been fully summerged and came out 100%. i buy all my stuff on ebay.. you can get last years models for 50-75% cheaper than overtons, crutchfield, or any other retailer.

heres what i did. wife had a whole fryer in the sink that she was going to bake.. i said hey lets grill it. so once it was thawed. I got some butter and mixed it with red pepper, garlic, parsley, and a bit of lemon pepper. put a generous amount under the skin on each breast and pushed it all over the bird under the skin. covered the outside with parika, red pepper, garlic, salt, ground black pepper, and a bit of cajun spice, then cut the top off of a bud light can, added some onion powder to the beer, and shoved it up the birds hind end. then shoved a tater in its neck hole to hold all that steam in. made a super hot fire in my smoker and cooked the bird indirectly for 2 hours adding hickory chips to the charcoal twice. bird was the most moist chicken i have ever had and i didn't even inject it. great for a fast smoked chicken. i would say the smoker temp stayed around 375

I went up and fished the spring down to the boyscout cabins access yesterday from about 3-530. Water was up a little still and still cloudy. Fished with a combination of flys, and scented bait switching off. Caught a few small browns on some streamers and this nymph looking fly i tie up. None of any size. switched over to powerbait and my micro set up cause i am really craving some rainbow fried up. Caught a few more little ones that i couldn't keep, and the darn chub minnows wouldn't stay off my line. had a deer chase going on in the woods behind me. thought i was going to get to see a deer put in. all in all i needed to get away for a bit. had a great time. saw eight deer, bunch of hawks, caught some little fish and had a few grolsch beers and a good cigar. as sam says "a bad day fishin is still a great day" and i needed that. hopefully i will meet some of you on the river some time and you can show me how to reel in the rainbow. Smallmouth fear me   but i am pretty sure trout laugh at me.

i would advise anyone that is looking into jets to stay away from 4-strokes.. we have been running jets on the lower current river for over 15 years now... we just got a new 2006 blazer ss 18'56" boat and first put a 90 horse four stroke 2006 mercury on it and the boat wouldn't even hardly plain off... switched to a 2006 90 hourse evinrude etec and it will run about 42 mph... the etecs are almost as fuel eff. darn near as quiet, and have a hell of a lot better warrenty.. i have a 40 horse johnson on a 16 48 monark john i use for upper current and it does great.. i would think a 25 on a 14 foot would do fine as well...

well this was my first time on upper current wade fishing... My fly gear was at our river cabin so i had to use my micro spinning setup... i didn't catch a darn trout.. not sure what i was doing wrong... i waded almost up to the spring and way down from the campground.. saw a bunch of fish, several were hitting the top of the water. looked to be a small hatch of big and little midges.. i wish i would have had my flys!!! so i used small marabou jigs colors-- olive, light olive, red, red and white, olive and black, no luck power bait, pink and white glitter, orage, green, white, orange/green gitter, and red salmon eggs---- no luck corn--- just caught little suckers damnit saw several good fish in about 6-8 feet holes.. nothing got there attention. any advice for the next time??

i have a few thoughts on this.... I am a resident of shannon county i can pretty much say that the forest service, conservation dept, and entire town of eminence and county for that matter minus a few support the trail rides... it brings an ungodly amount of revenue to our small town of 800. the place were the did the testing of the water were right below certain campgrounds that have a large problem with letting their raw wastes run into the river... I won't mention any names cause i don't want to start anything.. also, several herds of wild mustang horses through out shannon county that also play a big part in the horse problem... you should see some of the forest service and conservation funded trails they are building for the trail riders... i was out on my four wheeler this summer and rode over miles and miles of these brand new very nice trails for these horses (don't tell ) i highly doubt any organization can bring something this big down that has so much support from the local and state govt. i am not a horse buff.. don't get me wrong.. i ride maybe once a year. but the trail ride horses are far from the only cause of the river waste levels.. i would be more concerned to the canoers and floaters that cover the bottom of the river with glass, bud light cans, and trash that horses... not every horse that crosses the river poops in the middle of it.. boats will stir up the river much much more than a horse ever will not against boats either.. i have 2 those are my thoughts... sorry it is so crappy written.. i am at work on a the last leg of a triple shift

we run a 2 battery, 6 halogen light set up... we have two things of lights with 3 bulbs each in them... the lights are the halogen lights with the rope wire and male connector if that makes any since.. any way there are 3 per side and each side is ran to a heavy duty marine battery... we get 5+ hours of giggin a night out of them and it is great... very quiet and if you pick your lights wisely you can see just as well as the generators.

lye soap is great, i am highly highly allergic and nothing works great, but washing with lye soap 2 times a day, and then putting a calamine type medicine on overnite is my best remedy, works better than the shots and the steroids. I wouldn't suggest eating any amount if allergic. two cases i know of, 1. a boy in the town i grew up in got dared to eat ivy leaves and it swelled his throat shut so severe it was fatal 2. i have seen a few people come into the ER at the hospital i work that have gotten poison ivy in their month, and it has swollen up so much they have had to have breathing tubes until the meds kicked in to conteract the reaction. the inside of your mouth and throat are the same kind of tissues as in the intestines, wouldn't recommend this

went out wed. of this week. I have a cabin between doniphan and van buren on the current, i started the day off targeting goggle eye with small beetle spinners, no luck,, switched to my flies and used a large crawdad fly, no luck, bumble bee, no luck, tried small jerk baits, no luck.... this was all in the morning... went back out about 4:30 and used a glittered blue 3" grub and caught the crap out of em. ended up catching around 15 smallies, one was 19+ inches and the scale was bouncing between 3.5-3.75lb's hated to let that one go. caught a few goggle eye but mostly bass. great for fun but not great for food sinch you can't keep them till the end of may. my dad was using yellow and doing good, seems that sinking plastics are the way to go on deeper rocky banks
