That is kinda what I have heard. I heard they would mess with your vehicle and really heckle you if you were in front of their place. Oh well, guess I'll just utilize my conceal and carry permit and if I get shot at I'll take cover haha. I am just trying to find a good access point. I know there is a road to the east of the lake that you get too off 125 that crosses it again, I wonder if it would be a good place to go so it isn't right in their back yard.

so if a person was going through the week at daybreak, should be fine huh. hows the fishing above the dam?? looks pretty good

Ok, I was on here a while back asking about finley river. I am in the process of getting a kayak and the linden bridge and falls are just right up from my house. Someone said don't leave your vehicle down there on the post, is it safe to leave your car there while you take the kayak out for a few hour?? are there any access points above the falls? is it worth going above the falls or is the best fishing between linden and the park? I am wanting to learn this river this year, and just want to know what to look out for. also how swift is the river when flow is normal? i was wondering if a person could float down a ways then paddle back to the truck. That is why i was wondering if you could get above the falls, so I could paddle up river first and float back. I am in Sparta, do you guys know of any other rivers close that would be good kayak fishing? I am also wanting to do some floating on the swan creek. It looks awesome when I was down there a few weeks ago. I think it would be fun before the levels drop.

i was out jeep riding in the snow a while back and i found this nice looking little stream around the bar k conservation area. anyone float the swan and fish it?

I am selling my aluminum canoe, and as soon as I do I am going to get a kayak, I started thinking, this would be much easier than pulling my boat down to taney when I fish. Anyone have good luck out of a kayak??? also a little kayak advice. I am looking at 2 a sit on top and a sit in, both are 12' and built for fishing. I think the sit on top would be more stable but it lacks the dry storage of the sit in. what do you guys think?

it isn't really where to fish, but trout technique. I have 24 years fishing expierence on the river for bass and other local fish on the current, but not much experience with trout. I am sure my casting could use a bit of work too because I was never taught by a pro, just watched some vids on youtube and learned to fly fish a few years back. I do well on smallmouth, goggle eye and panfish, but not so well for trout. So if you are down at giving pointers I am in. Oh, one major setback is that the only days I have free are wed and fri. I would love to be shown pointers and I respect the water. and to both of you guys, thanks a ton, i now have tippet coming
-
Ok, I use the quick connect leaders and usually just pick what size I need for what I am fishing with. My question is are tippets just a cut to length leader pretty much? what are the pros and cons of using tippet? Also, anyone know of any good teachers for fly fishing taney? I am mainly a bass fly fisherman, and have never done that great on taney with flys. I would like to someday find someone to go fishing with for a day and learn some pointers.

So I just unpacked all my tying gear since we moved to this house. I can't find my hooks at all. I have always tied panfish and bass flies and want to start tying up some good trout flies for taney. I found a good place to buy bulk for stupid cheap, but i dont' wanna get the wrong sizes. could you guys shoot me like your 5 or so favorite go to sizes.

What all rivers are good gigging around here. We go on current river above doniphan with a bunch of luck. Opening night we got 50 fish, between 8 guys, had a huge fry the next day. Not looking for anything like that over here, I hate cleaning that many. I have a 16x48 boat with a 40hp jet on it. I live in sparta, will travel 45min to an hour if the gigging is good.

Thinking About Going White Fishing The First Time Tomorrow
polock replied to polock's topic in James River

Ok so i have never been fishing for whites. I was thinking about driving down to bridgeport and heading up towards flat creek. is this a good spot? how do you fish for them? what do you use? any advice would be helpful.. thanks a lot guys

ya know, of the 20 years i have been fishing on current river, i have not once been stopped on the lower current and asked for proof of license. I still buy one every feb when they expire, but hell if you figure that, 20 years x $12.00 = 240.00... anyone know the fine for fishing without a license in Missouri lol cause it seems like it would be cheaper to take your chances not that i ever would cause i do fish upper current and lakes that might do checks more often.

I have never fished for rainbow trout on a lake and need some pointers? I am not sure if it is fly only, but i am sure it probably isn't.. so could someone give me so good advice on what gear i need to take for big lake rainbow.

ok so me and my buddy are wanting to do a 2 day float on the upper upper current. I thought baptist camp was the upper most point you could put in, but I am seeing tan vat? where is that, and is it worth the extra 1.2 miles to float it. I am wanting to go from either there or baptist and do a good 2 day float. So where should I plan our takeout point? mainly floating and fishing with the occasional stopping to get a snack and get wet, and take pics of the caves and what not. looking to take out the 2nd day around dusk or a little before and starting early in the a.m. the first day. also what are the must stops to see up here... I am really only know the river well from round springs to doniphan

yeah tightline we have a friend that keeps a few hundred big creek slicks and horn heads in tank at his house.. he gave us about 2 dozen around 5-7" long and we went out on the current about 10 miles above the arkansas border. tried several slow deep holes and got a few bites then tried a faster current hole about 8-10' deep... the lil 2 lber hit my minnow like a early summer bass hitting a topwater, before my sinker touched the bottom.. got em in the boat and threw back out and within 30 seconds the big one hit... after that they were done in that hole and we moved on.. only 2 fish of the day. but well worth it

wow it has been forever since my last post on here.. been traveling the country and haven't had much time to fish. Just left northern maine after a 3 month stay and much to my dismay their fishing season on open waters closed the week i got there.. thats the only bad thing about being a traveling cat scan tech.. not all places have ideal fishing laws ... so the first thing i did when i got back to the state is got the boat, trapped some big minners and it the water.. here's a pic of my biggest.. came up to be just a bit over 8lb's and around 30" long. the lil one was just a bit over 2lb's and is the size i am used to catching down here... this big one is the biggest walleye i have caught in my life on current river
-
harrysroot sure has changed over the past 17 years.. i can remember when i was 7 and just started running the boat off of my dads lap.. i really had to pay attention when i went through there... now all ya have to do is watch for boats so you can make the wide right into the hard left. i can remember when it actually proved its name lol.. mule do i know you.. we have the cabin on yellowbank just down and across the river from cedar creek.
