  1. Also try Hidden Cove Resort. It is right by the Central Crossing Bridge, has a dock right across from the launch ramp and I am pretty sure they rent by the night. No luxury here, but you are right on all of the good fishing.
  2. Yes, I think that was actually a largemouth. Has the spots and tooth patch like you said, but the mouth was pretty big for a kentucky. The spotted and largemouth run together in this creek and you can catch all three types of black bass as well as nice size rock bass here. You do definitely want to avoid the warmer weekends as the canoe hatch can be epic.
  3. I've caught the most fish on san juans drifted through the deep holes, but my biggest fish was on the olive beadhead bugger in a riffle.
  4. I think that the intent of the one fish limit (>18") is to allow the taking of a trophy, although I doubt many fish over 18" ever come out of this little creek. The biggest fish I have caught there was about 14" and that made my month.
  5. Went to the Big Sugar just above the Elk on Sunday. Fished all day, tried crawdad patterns, crankbaits, and didn't catch anything. On my "last" cast of the day using a 4" trick worm, I managed to hook into a nice little kentucky. There were tons of these size fish in the creek, but they are still really hard to entice into biting. Has anyone else had any luck on the Elk or the Big Sugar this season?
