  1. Glad you opened your pie hole. I am still waiting on you to show me which post I lied in. You have had plenty of time.
  2. I don't know Ray, maybe its the heat. You still packing that side arm on the creek?
  3. That is a good point I hadn't thought of either. Now here is the point where I wasn't paying attention. I read all of that but had it in my head that it was $3 per canoe/yak/raft. Keeping the wheels turning. Question for you Al. While at work yesterday, I kept thinking of this thread all day. I just couldn't get it out of my head. And then I wondered, do threads like this affect your time painting? Do you have to stop because you can't concentrate and just walk away for a bit?
  4. With your support and the help of our allies over the last two years, we: Maybe you missed this part??? Do you guy's even read what I post???
  5. I just recvieved this email. These people seem to be getting things done. Dear Britt, I am writing to thank you for two wonderful years in what will be my last email as Environment Missouri’s Advocate. I am ending my time with the organization to pursue further graduate studies. But I am very pleased to be leaving Environment Missouri in such good hands. We have hired a new Advocate, Stuart Keating – a passionate organizer, lawyer, and outdoorsman – who will work with our staff, members and activists to win more victories for Missouri’s environment. But Environment Missouri has always been about you – we get our fire and our strength from the thousands of Missourians who stand with us against powerful polluters and recalcitrant politicians on behalf of Missouri's air, water, and open spaces. With your support and the help of our allies over the last two years, we: Won protections for the State Parks Earnings Fund, a cornerstone fund for our great state parks like the Katy Trail and Ha Ha Tonka. Pushed the EPA to release a new clean water plan that, when finalized, will close polluter-backed loopholes in the Clean Water Act and restore protections to 66% of Missouri’s streams that feed the Meramec, Missouri, and our other great rivers. Defeated an attempt to close Lone Elk Park and 22 other beloved St. Louis County Parks – where elk, bison, and other wildlife roam. [*]Won the first ever limits on mercury and air toxics pollution from power plants, which will reduce harmful mercury pollution by 90% and save an estimated 11,000 lives each year. [*]Defeated a reckless attack on the Current River by legislators in Jefferson City that would have stopped the National Park Service from cleaning up our river gem; and mobilized over 8,000 Missourians to press the Park Service to draw up a bold new restoration plan for the Current. Again, thank you for your passion and your support. It is the lifeblood of what we do. Sincerely, Ted Mathys Environment Missouri Advocate
  6. Nope. MDC does the game laws and the Water Patrol does the all others. It is not the Corps responsibility.
  7. I think his wife worked over the bank. He works BeFore he eats chicken. Chicken is good.
  8. Way to pay attention. I said that yesterday.
  9. I love carp fishing. 1. Go to your local MFA or other feed store and get a 50lb bag of Range cubes. They'll ask what % you want, just pick the cheaper one like a 16%. 2. The day before you want to fish, bait the hole with the cubes. Not all of them of course. A bucket full will do. Toss them within the range of your cast. Also open a can of corn and hand toss the corn in a spread pattern. Save the can for recycling. 3. In a pot on the stove on low heat, mix flour, cornmeal, small can of cat food, and the juice from one can of corn to your desired consistency. You may also add some corn. Remove from heat, let cool. 4. Use just enough to cover #10 or #12 treble hook. Toss to baited hole. Hang on for dear life.
  10. No, I wasn't going so much on the safty angle, though that is also a very valid point. But more of a damage angle. Bicycles cause much less, if any, damage to trails. While we have all seen what motocross bikes and 4-wheelers can do.
  11. We agree something should be done.
  12. Man, I didn't think you guy's were gonna see my humor! And yeah Mitch, it takes alot of Neosho's to make a mess. Next time you bring her down, I'll spend a couple of weeks getting enough for a fry. I only have about 60 of them in the freezer now. Not near enough for two.
  13. Anyone here go to the broiler fest???
  14. I was thinking that as I was typing Chub. I was also thinking that it also provides jobs too. I probably shouldn't have posted anything but was just tossing out my thought. I certainly mean no harm to Subway or its local employees.
  15. Well I don't know. They allow bikes on trails but not motocycles. Pretty easy to figure out why.
  16. I am not necessarily against your idea. But if they have no powers and are just an observer, then I don't see them being able to access land for a visual inspection of the whole watershed. Heck we can do that. And as far as your passion, I can only go on observation. I have made recomendations for the last few years for the MSA, of which you are a very important part of, on ways to work with land owners and such to help promote the health of streams and still all there is, is guest speakers and fishing trips. If you want to create world class smallmouth fishing, you need to be a world class organization. I think I know where you are going with this but can you explain further?? And the Riverkeeper will get all of these Federal and state agencies together?? The MSA has a Stream Team, and I assume you are a part of that team. Could your Stream Team take a leadership role and guide others in this direction??? Again, I don't necessarily think these are "bad" ideas. I am just a little unsure of their implementation and am pretty sure on how they will be recieved by the public. I do think we have the necessary agencies already in place to police what concerns we have. I think we do need to make some noise and start holding some feet to the fire. The question is how best to go about that. We certainly have a prominent voice in the MSA and other outdoor entities in the state of Missouri. Can we organize them in a common theme to send a barage of letters to the powers to be of the agencies and to local politicians to raise awareness? And send these messages once a month or so, they understand we are not going away. I think we also contact newspapers and even Missouri based magazines and also spead the word that way? I know you are very good at writing. The more people hear about it and the more that people hear about it, the more heat can be put on the agencies and politicians. We are but a few. We need the voice of many. ???????
  17. Not sure what that is all about but I thought there was about four of you posting to this topic. Maybe you should try masterbat....ehh...maybe not.
  18. Oh, nothing. I just thought it sounded like a pretty cool idea. I think you guy's would have a great time getting out and hitting some local water together. When I lived up there, I always wanted to float the Blue myself. You wouldn't have to make it all formal with dues and meetings and such. Just meet at the Waffle House once maybe once a month, talk about a float and then do it. Just thought it sounded like fun.
  19. You guy's should start you up a little Float KC Club. Sounds like you could have a bit of fun in the summer months.
  20. Time to put a 10hp limit on streams and rivers.
  21. Hey Zeke, That station over by the high school has some killer corndogs! That is where we usally eat when in town. This may sound wrong, and I don't mean it that way, but, Subway, even though it may be locally owned, I am not sure, would be like eating at a Micky D's. The main money is leaving the community. Just a little food for thought. LOL!
  22. Ummmm, no Al, I am reading this just fine. When you said it would not cover ALL rivers and streams, then one would correctly assume that it would only cover the most popular ones correct??? It is the most popular one that are having the problem correct??? I am not advocating for any Riverkeeps on the Elk or Spring. Which by the way, the local outfitters donate extra funds to the sheriffs department for increased river patrols on the Elk during the summer months. I wish you had this passion and tenacity helping the health of our streams and rivers from what is really harming them. You would be a great voice for that crusade.
  23. So it will be more for the most popular streams and we all pay whether we float those waters or not???? I am all for cleaning up the waters and I know you really stand behind this. I just think we have bigger fish to fry at this time for the health of our rivers.
  24. I agree, golden is the best color variation for smallmouth!
