  1. Ahhh crap guy's. My apologies. I was typing what I was thinking without giving enough info. Thanks for all the info Terry, that does help. I myself have been a "member" of pay-pal for a few years now. But only on the purchasing side of things. And I can say that I have never had any problems. I meant to ask about for when people purchase from you. Like if I was selling on Ebay, which I do have some rods and reels to sell for my dad. Anybody interested in a left handed AMBASSADEUR 5000? Sorry for the confusion. I am looking to set up so people can send me money! Do any of the guides here use it?
  2. I know this is not the correct forum for this question but, could be maybe but, has anyone here had or have any experience with Pay-Pal? How does it work? I mean, its not like a credit card machine that you swipe a card through or punch in numbers from what I can tell. What are the fee's? I have noticed that some on Ebay won't use Pay-Pal. Can you enlighten on the Pro's & Con's? Thanks
  3. Or everybody could just grow up. I am all for spirited debate but, with what has been posted lately.....and some of it by those that I thought would never act like that in public. That is one of the reasons I have all but stopped posting fishing reports. I did like Phil's post in the TR forum just before he closed it.
  4. I read on another site that some are repairing their Ram-X Coleman canoes by melting gallon milk jugs into the crack/hole. I thought it sounded crazy but they seemed to claim that was the best way to fix the Ram-X. If any are interested, I will see if I can find it again.
  5. On that thought of the B&B, if it was to come to be, it could be marketed to trout fishermen as a "base camp" if you will. In the area are not only Crane but, Roaring River, Capp's, Hickory. Not to mention a couple of Pay trout farms in the area. And that is not to mention some excellent fly fishing for smallmouth during the summer and fall. Man I tell you, the more I think about this the more ideas come to me. The trick would be getting them to come. But as we have all heard....Build it and they will come.
  6. Boy don't think if I hit even a small time lottery, this wouldn't be moved to the front burner.
  7. My advivce would be to go ahead and turn your mags all the way to 10. That is where I keep mine. On your tension, until you get pacticed set it a little tight. Not real tight, just to where it will hold the plug or spinner or what have you. Make your practice casts. After making a few casts, slightly and I do mean slightly release a small, very small amount of tension. Make some more cast. Keep doing this until you can get to where you have it loose enough that your plug will slowly drop to the ground. Also in making those long cast with the extra umph, try to practice a with a longer, smooth motion. Too many times you will put the extra umph on the fist part of the cast and this will get the spool really spining way faster than the plug is sailing through the air. Also, I have my thumb just slightly riding the spool. Then just as your cast hits the water, smash the spool with your thumb. Back in my fathers day all they had were free wheeling spools. All he time I was growing up, he stressed to me that you had to have an "educated thumb". I hope this helps.
  8. Check out the H&H spinnerbaits that I mentioned. It may be just what you are looking for. If you have an Academy Sports near you, they carry a huge selection.
  9. Nice work Al. I am always amazed, if you will, at the difference in styles of tackle and presentations that different people have that work. I used to love to throw H&H spinners on small creeks. I seemed to really to good with the old purple and white. To me, it was just the perfect sized spinner for creeks. Like you I like a short rod. I won't use anything longer 5 1/2 ft. A five footer is my fave. That goes for spinning rod or baitcaster.
  10. I am on board with that. And can honestly say that every time Dylan, Buzz and I have fished Crane or been in the area, we have stopped and patronized the local stores. I have always loved Crane, and would love to live there. I would love to open a B&B there. I just don't have the ______, to do it. It is the chickens way out but, that is just a mighty big step for me. I know in my mind that I would get some biz from the trout fishermen and also those that just like to stay at different B&B's. Can you think of a more beautiful place in the autumn to stay? Heck even spring for that matter. The trout would just be the bonus.
  11. Hell, all we do is fish and post reports. Maybe though we should start some controversy. It does seem to get a lot of looks. That is only on the Elk though. And you can tell from our reports....we don't fish there. And I won't as long as it is the season for the Freak Parade.
  12. WOW, I am glad I stick with creek fishing. I don't see anybody all day.
  13. I would also like to thank you myself Buzz for taking the extra time and explaining the different aspects of creek fishing to Weston. I know it made a lasting impression.
  14. fresh jalapenos bought at a local market topped and cleaned out the more white and seeds you leave the hotter.... Actually, Capsaicin is where the heat comes from. Contrary to popular belief, the seeds themselves do not produce any capsaicin, although the highest concentration of capsaicin can be found in the white pith around the seeds.
  15. And just a few more. I hope you enjoy them.
  16. And just a few more from the day
  17. Dylan, Buzz and I had the pleasure of hosting a couple of very special quest on our weekly fishing expedition. I would like to thank KCRIVERRAT for bringing down his 12 year old neighbor, Weston. It was a real delight and honor to show him the way of float fishing in SW Missouri. Our other guest is a friend of Dylan's, 11 year old Elijah. This one of the few float trips that he had been on. It was wonderful to watch these three kids fish hard and swim hard all day. Ahhh to be young again. Watching them took me back to my younger days out there with my dad and family friends learning what I am now teaching. I think it was Weston's first float fishing trip and telling by his young excitement and enthusiasm, it is far from his last. All three got along great and made some new lasting friendships. We started the morning early by youngster standards anyway. We hit the road at 7 am and was finally on the water at 9 am. By about 9:03, Dylan had caught the first fish to start the day. From then on, somebody always had a fish on it seemed. We had numerous double and triples this day. Most fish were caught in fast water. Buzz did manage a couple of really nice largemouth on a spinnerbait in slow water. Soft plastics we the ticket this time. Dylan and Elijah caught numerous fish on a 1 inch crawdad on a 1/16 oz jig. Weston tore them up on a tube. I tell ya, these boy's looked like pro's out there reeling them in. It is no exaggeration when I say the 6 of us caught in the neighborhood of 200 fish. By far the vast majority of those were browines. Second would be googleye. Largemouth made a showing with about 10 fish. I think only about 5 perch were caught. We got home around 8:00 and all but passed out. But boy was it worth it to watch them boys have the day of their young lives. These memories won't soon be forgotten. Not by me anyway.
  18. No he does not. You will see though that ranchers will fence off this area and use it to let cattle go from one field to the other. It is much easier and safer for them to do this then to shut down the road temporarily to move the cattle. I don't know the procedure for this but, I am assuming they are getting permission from the county or state depending on who maintains the road. It is from my understanding of the law, that you were completely within your legal right to do what you did. Next time ask him to produce the deed that says he owns that piece of land.
  19. looks like Shoal fished really good today. Those are some really nice looking fish!
  20. Ditto's on the fish! That rocks! Glad to see another Card's fan too!
  21. I really need to proof read before I hit the button! Thanks guy's. It was a fun trip none the less. There are a lot of brownies in there and we did mangage to hook a few. Very few though. It just wasn't a good day for them. I don't we got one over 10" this day but I have got some really nice ones out of there.
  22. Thanks for the nice PM. Please be sure to post a report for us! Sorry that I couldn't help you any more. There are others on this forum that fish that area quite a bit from all the reports I see. Maybe one will chime in and offer more details.
  23. Here is trip from last Sunday that Dylan, Sierra, and Buzz took. We hit a section of Center Creek that I hadn't fished in 2 years. A lot had changed too. Well not a not but some that live on the creek are now using more than they did and it has affected the fishing. Crankbaits reined supreme again on this trip. (sorry Buzz I just had to throw that in) The bulk of my fish came from a couple of different tadpolly's. Though not an outstanding day I did end with 19. We probably won't hit this section again until late fall. I hope then we can give a better report.
  24. Way to go you two! Nice looking brownie Andrew has in that last pic! We need to do a Saturday float.
  25. Oh, that ain't no problem wader. I haven't posted any fish porn for a while. You are welcome anytime. Only thing is, we won't be seeing any of those "mermaids". LOL!
