Way to go guy's. Just what was that secret color?
-
Tipping a canoe? What the heck are you yaking about? I may be guilty of swimming in a strip pit in my undywear in the early spring, but I have never tipped a canoe. At least not with you.
-
For this Friday's Foto's, we have a wade trip Dylan, Buzz and I took a couple of weeks ago. We were having a great time until I hit a hole and the water came over the top of my waders. I wasn't to happy after that!
-
You bet you better get your butt down here! You can float with me or if Emmanual doesn't show, I'm sure Buzz will let you in with him. Our take out will be just north of where Hickory joins Scenic. I figure it will be at least a 6 hr trip. Could be 8. It is roughly a 5 mile float. Giver or take. I'm not sure what Dylan's guide rates are, I'm on the family plan.

Ok we will make it Mar. 28. Here is a list of participants: Chief - Dylan - Buzz CDC - cousin??? Wily - son Fishin - Andrew Flysmallie Anybody else want in? What time do we launch? 9:00??? Due to the length of this float, I think I will pack me a couple of sammiches. I don't think we will have the time that we did last time. Whatever guy's think though. Chime in with something.
-
So is it going to be Mar. 28? Is that what everone wants?
-
Fishin I think you are right. Buzz and I have had great success on that section. Buzz and I spoke about this evening while we were tossing a line in and I agree, it is a better section than what I said. So I will throw my hat in on that one too. Buzz, it was CDC that told us that about the goggle eye. It was when we unknowingly run into him and his cousin on our Ritchey-Granby float. And speaking of goggle eye, on our October float last year, we had one spot where we lined up like opening day at Roaring River and caught the dickens out of them.

Well, technically it may not be spring but, it is close enough. It is time for a get together float. Lets get the planning started. Lets get the stretch of river picked that we want to do. Also, we need to pick a date. No, not who you are going to bring with you but, what day we want to do this. So don't post, "Well, I am open. I really don't care where or when we fish." WE need a float and a date with your post. I'll say Mt. Malang to Tipton Ford access. The first Saturday in April.

That is exactly what I got out of it. In looking at other web sites that speak of this case they concur with what we are thinking.

Sounds like a great day of fishing. Well except for..... I know of the person you are speaking of. He as property posted that I don't believe to be his. He is just trying to stop floating on that section of Shoal Creek. You were parked on and entered the creek on county property. I have been doing some research to see where we as fishermen and what have you, stand on our rights to float and fish rivers, streams and creeks. Here is some of what I have found: http://bengal.missouri.edu/~matthewss/AgEc...watercourse.htm If you will type this court case into a search engine, it will pull up a lot info too. I am up for a spring float! It is time to get busy with that.

Trav didn't confuse me but .... "But with the following OA has and possibly that lack of coverage on other "waters of interest", I waned to explore the idea of expanding to other Midwest areas." "It's not a matter of the forum getting too big- I don't think that's possible." "Spring is the time to jump on change." "I want this topic to run for at least a week before I decide what to do." "If there's forums and websites already doing the job, doing a good job, then there's no need for us to expand." " I've secured a new url site and have it setup for a new forum. I'll move the forum over and update it, build in new waters and have it up in a week or so." "Unfortunately, you'll have to register on the new forum. I can't move over memberships." "Instead of adding more and more waters to this forum, I decided to just start another site altogether and add those waters to it." "It has NEVER been my intention to grow this forum bigger... I think it is as big as it should be" Like you, I don't understand why we didn't follow what your were saying. Where was the confusion? -
Just think, when you guy's finally get moved back this way, you'll be tossing these back like they were tootsie rolls at a Christmas parade.

You are correct Zander. It is from strip mining. This paticular area is in western Barton county near the state line and just south of the town of Mindenmines. This was coal country. http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/applications/moatla...amp;txtAreaNm=s This will tell you about the area. There is another area west of Rich Hill that has some pits that I like to fish. Come on down some time and I will take you there and show you around.

I and we understand that Dano. What we are saying is we don't want it expanded. I can go to this forum and post anywhere I have fished in the US. It is already here and not being used that much. There are even sub forums for world wide fishing reports. Not seeing many posts. I may have voted for change last November but I sure as heck ain't voting for it now. Just look at what the majority of the posters that post the majority of the post are saying. It may be a nightmare to do but, if Phil is hell bent on have an expanded forum, why not have two forums? Leave this one alone and build another one with the expanded territory that he wants. Just my thoughts Dano. I sure as heck ain't getting on you. -
Trav - Why are you hijacking my post? MC - ain't it just the greatest thing!!!

Here are your Friday Fishin' Foto's for this week. These were taken at a strip pit at Shawnee Trail CA. The year was 2005 and Dylan was 6 and Sis was 4. Thankyou MDC for providing this area for my family and I to create another great moment in their childhood!

Something I noticed when I just went back and read who posted what. Those contributing the most information to this site don't want it changed. From reading everyone of Phil's post on this subject, he has no intention on leaving it the way it is. Why ask you contibutors for their opinion if you have your mind made up already? Would all the new nation wide advertising that has happened in the last 6 months or so caused a need for a bigger audience to generate additional income? You have to admit, if BRBF and I agree, it must be good! Just some thoughts that I have pondered in my head. -

For whatever it is worth, here is my thought. The name of this place is Ozark Anglers. That is what drew all of the thousands of members thousands of lurkers that you have. Folks generally think of Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas when they think of the Ozarks. They wanted to read and learn of areas to fish in the Ozarks. That is what led them to this forum. This area has a rich, long history of quality fishing that has lasted for over 100 years now. It has a certain romance that draws thousands of fishermen each year to try their luck. They want to experience the lore and legend that is the mystique of the Ozarks. They want to live the life of the Ozarks through the posts posted here. This is not my forum and I certainly do not carry any weight when it comes to making decisions concerning its operation. I would just like to say bigger is not necessarily better. I like the Ozarks theme that it has and if wanted to know about fishing another area of the county, I would check that area, not the Ozarks. I mean no disrespect to anyone that thinks this forum should cover multiple areas, but maybe it should have a name change too. -
Ever since I watched Grumpy Old Men, I have always wanted to ice fish. How fun it would be to have group of "cabins" out there. I always thought it would be great fun to have one big enough to have a few people over and watch the game or play cards while fishing! Maybe have a little cook stove for frying some fish and taters. I would never go home! Well, until you know, the ice started melting!

From what I have noticed in the news, print news seems for the most not use the term "assult" and TV news seems to like the term "assult" Now it goes without saying there are exceptions. BTW, for any of you looking for ammo, I happen to be at Orscheln's, which is a large farm store chain, this evening and there didn't seem to be any shortage. Numerous boxes of .22, 270, 308, and many others.

Ditto what Buzz said. I had some crankbaits with me and should have tried them in some of the deeper water. I am not sure how good I would have done though. We caught a lot of the fish in shallow water. The one I am holding came from water not much more than knee deep. I think it was the same for the one Buzz has.
-
Don't blame yourself TS. This place is getting so big with all of the sub forums it is getting harder and harder to navigate.
-
Glad to hear about your recovery and your positive attitude. Buzz and I would love to take you on a float trip this summer if you would like. If I have to walk beside the canoe to keep it safe, then that is what I will do! We will get you fixed up for some great fishing!

Thanks MC, we can't wait either! C & R - We were not in that area, so I can't say. We did some scouting in that area earlier this year and didn't see anything but, we didn't check the whole section either.
