  1. WOW! We were busy today. Was I the only one at work today? TF'85, most here have said what I would have also told you. I think you have had your eyes opened to the vast differences in the management of both states and what it basically boils down too is that Missouri manages their trout program to benefit anglers of all skill levels from the once a year catch and keep to the never creel, trophy hunter. And it is managed very well for that. Arkansas primarily to cater to the latter. Which really cheats those that can not afford the equipment or time that is needed to invest. And if I remember correctly, a brown was found a few years ago floating in Taney that smoked the Arkansas world record. And I have no doubt there are quite a few very large browns in Taney. But they didn't get large by eating power bait.
  2. Asking you to elaborate is not arguing. It is asking for some type of fact that which you have never produced in any discussion of any subject. If you want to continue to make wild, wanton, and false accusations against the MDC, then you need to expect those with the opposite view to respond.
  3. MMMMMMMM, tell me more about the old baits????? I am intrigued.
  4. To say that Arkansaw is superior in fish management to Mizzou because they waste money on a looser that Mizzou doesn't is ludichris. that is some fance speling righty there!
  5. Thats not a bad thing is it????
  6. I am not familiar with the area but, if you access from a public area, roadway etc... as you say, according to the law as we interpret it, you were within your legal right to be there. I just scoped out your blog. Nice work. You have done a great job with that. One of the better ones I have seen in a while. I will enjoy keeping an eye on this one.
  7. You are right Mitch. It is what it is. And it appears to work. I guess I will just leave it at that.
  8. Yeah, from the time she drops them to the time they hatch. Rainbow's average around 4000 eggs. And just taking averages from river species, trout just seem to take much longer to hatch. And given that they don't drop anywhere near other river species, such as the smallmouth for instance, which will adverage around 8,000 for a 13-15 inch fish to a over 16,000 for a 15 to 17 inch specimen and with a comparable largemouth producing up to near 65,000 I wonder why. And understandably colder water temps will affect this time. And that is why I find it somewhat "un-nature" like if you will. Not only do they have a longer incubation time, they also drop fewer eggs. Two definite strikes against the survival of your species. And being that trout have adapted to the colder water living many moons ago, it would only make sense that the eggs would have adapted a shorter incubation period to remove the increased chance of predation and winter floods.
  9. What gets me is that nature is allowing the eggs to be vulnerable to predators for such a long period of time.
  10. Largemouth bass run from 2 to 7 days. Smallmouth from 3 to 6 days. Most of our other favorite species run about the same. Trout 21 days. I wonder why the hugh difference.
  11. Well actually according to GW it was help the stockholders. Weak. Very weak.
  12. And don't forget the electric plants that use coal. I remember it was so they could compete. Against who????
  13. And just what has the republican party done in the last 50 years for conservation???? Or would you like me to make it easier on you and make it the last 75??? Or a slam dunk and give you 100???? I can't wait to read this.
  14. I hear ya loud and clear Wayne. But you know when you make wild, baseless accusations, you need to back them up with facts.
  15. Yer right. I botched that one. Got up too early this morning for myself I guess. Well, everytime you go outdoors to enjoy it, you first get down on both knees and bow your head and pray that the "liberals" had the testicular fortitude to create the laws and regulations that they did. Because if they hadn't and we kept going with the attitude that I can do whatever the _____ I want, there would not be one tree, one gallon of clean water, one pocket of clean air, or one mountain that hadn't been brought down. Some things are more important than money and self gradifcation. At least to a liberal.
  16. http://duckcreekcaupdates.blogspot.com/ The North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) provides matching grants to organizations and individuals who have developed partnerships to carry out wetlands conservation projects in the United States, Canada, and Mexico for the benefit of wetlands-associated migratory birds and other wildlife. Over the years Missouri Department of Conservation has utilized this source of funding and its partnerships to extend your dollar on wetland projects throughout the state. The Duck Creek Renovation is no different. The water control structures and work in Units A and B are partially funded by NAWCA dollars. In the coming year we will be submitting another grant proposal, which will include the plans for C Blind. If approved this work wouldn't happen until the summer of 2012. I haven't found any fed money yet. But I am sure there is some.
  17. I don't know what to tell you. I guess you can show your distaste and distrust for this corrupt agency by not purchasing any hunting or fishing permits and by not taking part in those activities. I wonder if any of us really understand how many of these types of calls they get a week????
  18. I agree the case should have been filed. I just think it would have died though. Either way the MDC has gotten a black eye. I don't understand why some continue to spread untrue falshoods about the MDC. They have never denied that the cat's have been in Missouri. Since the first confirmed sighting in 1994, all the MDC has stated is that there is no evidence of a resident breeding pair. I don't understand why that is so hard to understand????
  19. That is all fine and dandy here on this forum. It would be a slam dunk conviction. But you may want to do a little more investigating into the feelings and thoughts of those that would have been the jury. And you won't be getting a change of venue either. And please don't compare the MDC to the local police. There is a huge difference between the dweebs that were beat up in school and are now all hyped up on sugar donuts and attitude and those that have a deep appreciation for the outdoors like us.
  20. NO. The story did not prove he was not guilty. Choosing not to charge an individual doesn't prove one innocent. Before you go throwing punches, the MDC decided not to file charges due to the fact that the retard can still use self defense. The possibility was still there that the cat could have attacked him or his dogs. I don't buy it but, all you need is a jury of his friends which is exactly what would have happened. I don't think there was anyway for them to win. But I do think they should have tried. But on the flip side, what local relationship damage could have been assessed against the MDC? It is a tight rope walk and the MDC was in a lose-lose situation. Arresting a local hero can have very damaging effects for any cooperation the MDC may seek with local land owners in the future. I am not happy with the situation and I think it should have been further investigated from the start. Too many things didn't make sense to me in JD orignal "it was legal" thread. That is why I call BS!
  21. Well, JD what do you say now?????
  22. I couldn't agree more. How many of you ever got out of Wal-mart without picking up something else??? There went your dollar. And if you claim that you did, you spent it on a Slim Jim later. And how long did that last??? You still have your license. I haven't read the whole dealbut, what about those without computers?? You will still be able to get a license from vendors??? What if you were already in Missouri or on the way for a visit or vacation and at the spur of the moment decided you wanted to do some fishing??? I am sure they have addressed this issue???
  23. I cannot admit that. Not in public.
