Hey Mitch I am still holding that thought. Did you ever find your evidence?

It was a great time Sunday. Even though the fish did not cooperate. But Monday, the fish were on fire compared to Sunday. We only fished for about 2 hrs and we caught and caught about 20 apiece. I wish we would have had all day.

Sounds like you had a really great time OTF. I really need to get over there some day. Did you eat that chili right out of the can?? I mean its good stuff, I just like to doctor it a little. But none the less what picture you have painted. A good day of trout fishing followed by an evening with a campfire and some chili to warm the innards.

Reminder: The float will be this Sunday. Anybody else want to join??? Anyone have any questions??? It is time once again for the Ozarks in October Fall Float. Yeah I know, I keep changing the name. But I think I like this one!!!! So here is the scoop; We will all meet at the MDC Lime Kiln access between 8 and 9am. At that time we head for the MDC Allen Bridge access to begin the float. This about a 3-4 hr float. We should finish the float at about 1:00pm. At that point, let the feast begin! Here is a map to the Lime Kiln access: http://extra.mdc.mo.gov/documents/area_brochures/7811map.pdf When looking at the Google map, Lime Kiln access is just north of where you see Collage, Lime Kiln and Elwood Jct.Rd. come to meet. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=neosho+Mo&wrapid=tlif12848191323122&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Neosho,+MO&gl=us&ei=HsqUTNnsK4SlngeQk7S4CA&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CBoQ8gEwAA I have a trailer that will hold as least 6 craft. I will use that to shuttle and if two trips are needed I will do that. The goal is to leave all vehicles at the Lime Kiln access since that is the take out point and those that need to, can leave when needed. The spring trip was by far the largest yet and eveything ran smooth as silk! Lets do it again! I think this year I will make a big pot of chili. So we will need some plastic spoons, bowls and assorted condiments if you like. We will need to know how many will be in your party. On the spring float we had a ton of food and it was all GOOD!!!! Man did we eat like pigs!! Like last time; 1. List your name, screen name is fine. If you used your real name I wouldn't know who you were. 2. List how many will be in your boat. Not county yourself. 3. List what condiment you may bring or if you are bringing the bowls and or spoons. Or anything else you may want to bring to go with the chili. Like last time, I will keep adding to this post as info comes in. So keep an eye on this one for the lastest updates. UPDATE Looks like we may need some spoons??? Fishin'SWMO, you wanna grab those??? Names in REDare on the maybe list. Chief - 1 - Chili Flytyer57- ?? - plastic spoons, hot sauce Ducky - 1 - bowl, buns Wheat - 0 - Hot sauce, Fritos Gotmuddy - 0 - ??? Markw - 1?? - Onions, cheese, drinks Buzz - 0 - ?? fishinSWMO- +2 -?? Zack-zhoyt - 0 - Drift Boat-room for an extra

I would have to say Autumn is my favorite time to fish. You have just come off the brutal summer heat and things are cooling off. The fish get more active as the water cools too. And fall is when I tend to catch more numbers larger fish. Especially largemouth on the rives. Now I will admit that dealing with the falling leaves can be frustrating but, the beauty of it to me is well worth it. And also while floating you will see more wildlife on your trips as they too are working to prepare for winter. You can just smell the winter coming. Of course there ain't nothing like the winter fishing. There are times you can catch a warm day in the winter and just have the time of your life catching bass. But you can also catch them on a cold winters day. And that can be a real challange. But I mainly target trout in the winter. And that is the great thing about winter. I haven't fished for trout in about 9 months and I am ready! There is nothing like fishing for a wild trout as the snow is falling either. That is just breath taking. Man I love winter fishing! Bring on the Spring I say! Ahhh just the smell of spring. There ain't a better season. Everything is coming back to life. Its time to put the long rod away and get out the bass rod. The fish are starting to come out of their winter slumber. They are putting on their feed bags. They are preparing for the spawn and need all the protein they can get. Everything is coming back to life. But I can't wait for summer! The spawn is over. The fish move into summer feeding habits and its top water time! Nothing like catching some big ol' fat bass on some old school top water plugs. And not only do I get the shear joy of fishing but now the water is warm enough that I can enjoy a swim during a float. There is nothing like taking a cool dip in the water and enjoying a cold, crisp, clean Budweiser. That is what summers were made for! That is my favorite season. What is yours??

I really hope you can make it Fishin' I don't see anyone having a big problem with this being on Sunday. This will be the only Sunday float we have. And like I said, I only picked it because the date would be 10-10-10. I can't remember the dates of our other floats but, I will remember this one for sure. We just have about 3 weeks until the float so I will start a post for all to sign up on. Be sure to watch and sign in. I like to get this list started so we can finds seats for those that want to come but may not have a canoe, yak, tube, large hunk of foam, or what have you. ***EDIT**** I just looked at the calander and we could do a 12-12-12 float as a special "Last time this Century". But it too is on a Sunday. I just thought I would toss that out there as seed to be planted in your mind. I'll wait until November to post about it and see what kind of response there is.

Yeah you know we will!

You know, another challenge that I have thought about but, not done yet, is catching a Neosho Smallmouth in each of the 4-states that they exsist in. I have already caught them in every county in Missouri that inhabit. You want to try it???? Of course you know, we could also do a Neosho Grand Slam and try to catch one in each state on the same day!!!!!!!!!
-
That would be ye ol' bucketmouth. And a dang nice one.
-
What about the Ouachita Bass??? Plus we can knock out a lot of these fish later this year or next if you want to.

Yeah, he is 72. And can still paddle a canoe with the best of them. I hope I can say the same when I am his age. As a matter of fact I do. -
I wish I could accomodate everyone but, alas, I can't. FT57 would like it closer to him, the eastern guy's would like it closer to them and the KC guy's would like it closer to them. And I wish I could do that. But moving it closer to one, does not make it closer for another. Maybe I should take this thing on the road and make it a tour. I really hope you can make it though. I know there are quite a few people over here, including me, that would love to meet you. I am sure you can. We will find a ride for you one way or another.

$30???? You're getting ripped. My dad pays $15. -
I am sure there are lots of places. But as I pointed out in my reasons for having it here, do you know of any places that can accomodate all of my points? And the more I think about it, I think we need to keep it in the same spot every year. Much like the big shindig they have every new years at Taney. Nobody complains about that??????? Yes Ollie. But it is more about the comradery than the fishing. Come on out this time. We had a great turn out on the spring float. It was really a good time meeting new and old friensd that all have a common bond.

No doubt that is a nice fish. And what a surpise I bet it was.

Well, I am thinking about doing one of two floats or combining them into one. Our first Fall Float was from Cherry Corner to Allen Bridge. Which is about the same length as the Spring Float was, about 2+ miles. I know that doesn't sound like a very long float but, we spent 4 hrs on the water on the spring float and I think it worked out just right. Or we could float Cherry Corner to Lime Kiln, which would be in the neighborhood of 4+ miles. But I think that will cut us short on our feast at the end of the float. Or we could do the Allen Bridge to Lime Kiln just like the Spring Float. If we do this one, we have a table at the take out we can use. Here are my thoughts on why I like the Allen Bridge to Lime Kiln float: 1. Ample free parking on Conservation land. I have lots of places to float but, parking for a group of people becomes a real issue 2. It is a realitive short float. That gives time to float and then have a final get together before everyone has to leave. 3. Being on a Sunday this time, time will be of the essence so that everyone can get home that evening. 4. This particular stretch is an easy float without obstacles or portages. 5. Concrete boat ramps at each access for easy put in and take out. 6. Easy to find for out of towners.

Ahhhh, it is time again for the second annual October Float Fest. Our previous float trips have always been on a Saturday. And we can do that this time also if you guy's want to. This year though, Sunday, October 10, equates to 10-10-10. It is a once in a life time offer. I think it would be pretty dang neat to do this. But I am not opposed to doing this on Saturday the 9th. What say you??
