  1. Nobody's grumpy about it or dumping on it. It's a great option to use for fishing. Especially for kids! I mean there's no easier way to fish that produces so many fish! It's very cost-effective, it's a no-brainer, it doesn't take special equipment, and there's no wrong way to fish it. It covers the complete spectrum. And it will catch a multitude of species. And in high numbers which is always a plus! But honestly do we need a new thread on the thing every week?
  2. Something doesn't sound right.
  3. He checked you in the field, you kept hunting, you were checked again. This time you have too many. Is that right?
  4. I've always found the MDC to be rather consistent. Pretty much word for word as written. Have you had other experiences with them?
  5. I always liked the Slider bodies but wasn't a big fan of the jig. Did you like the jig?
  6. Ahhhh ok. That sounds good. I'll try that. I got some smoked pickled eggs the other day and that will go real good on them.
  7. I've been wanting to ask you about that sriracha sauce you had. I bought some of that but it was much much hotter! I got the exact same bottle you have! What gives?
  8. I should probably use the term "strongly dislike" instead. Not counting the party floaters, it still gets beat to death. And yes I am talking about Pville to Noel. I shouldn't knock it though. It serves it's purpose. To keep those part time nature lovers off the rest of our streams.
  9. It's a beautiful river its just not one of my favorites for fishing. I would recommend that you float sometime if you get a chance. It's all good.
  10. Some people just have a larger learning curve.
  11. Uhhh yeah, the elk has been around a few million years. You boys seem to get a little testy when will we don't wet pants over the ned rig talk. Where'd Chuck go?
  12. I hate the Elk. Lay down your criteria.
  13. Hey Chuck How about you challenge me to go head to head on the creek and we'll post the results?
  14. Yeah. Barbara Mandrell had a huge hit song about the same thing. But everybody likes to think they're the ones who discovered the new hot thing.
  15. I thought about that after I hit send. I'll take my lumps on that one.
  16. Catch rates on 15"to 18" bass will seem to plummet due to the fact that there are not anywhere near as many fish in that size range as there are in the size range from 10" to 14". Bass in the 7 to 14 inch range tend to make up about 80%+ of the population in a given stream mile. Now don't quote me exactly on that, but from the many sampling reports that I have read, they tend to follow that line closely.
  17. The wheel is only as fast as what propels it.
  18. That's the exact color he uses also! Now as far as his whole "Ned" fiasco, I like it too. I must because like thousands of other fishermen, I've also been fishing it for the last 40 some years, long before anybody ever heard of Ned. It's nothing new for sure. And like Scott is doing, there is no set rules on to how it is rigged. You don't need a certain type of worm on a certain jig head finished on certain line with a certain reel on a certain rod in certain water. Some here have a way over engineered it. Nobody has ever made the wheel any rounder. Maybe prettier but not rounder. It's just simply a piece of soft plastic, mainly in the form of a worm, stuck on any size any color of Jig head. Fish it in whatever waters you want. Do just like Scott is doing, experiment with it. If you think one way seems to work better continue to do that. If you have certain colors that you have more confidence in, use those colors. There are no set standards.
  19. My son uses the 8th ounce size and does very well on the rivers. I felt nostalgic on one trip last year and I bought one the old green with black stripes and black head. I used it on one trip and it actually caught the biggest fish of the trip! There's absolutely nothing wrong with Beetle Spins!
  20. I never understood why people wanted a fast canoe? Or how you you even really know which ones are faster than the other? But I thought the whole reason for being out of water and fishing was to kind of slow down and ease back a little. I do see advantages to both a solo and one that is a 169. So I'm kind of on top of the fence about both of them. I like both of them.
  21. Somebody's got their sensitive pants on today.
  22. Now don't go dissing the Ned in front of this elite group of fisherman. A couple of these boys are hawking Ned components. You come in here and start putting common sense and reality into perspective and you'll blow the whole financial windfall out of this free advertisement page. They got to ride this like the banjo minnow.
  23. I don't normally make post of this nature. I am not one that condones guides presenting post about trips. Although some here do it. But I want to share with you about a dear old friend that called me the other day. He asked me if I still guided on the rivers. I told him I sure do what did you have in mind. He wanted me to take him walleye fishing. He had never caught a walleye out of the river, only lakes. And today was the only day he had available. Not one to back away from a challenge I said let's do it. It's not exactly prime time of year to chase walleye in the rivers but, it was the only weekend this busy man could get away. So we met at the rendezvous point. We made small talk and caught up for a few moments before we took off. I made a couple of cracks at the car he drove and of his choice of clothing. Both were totally opposites of one another. He stated he sure did miss the old days when we used to run around. We slipped the canoe into the stream and we were off. The river was still running a little high and still a little stained from the rains this week. And then you add in that is still just a little early and you have the makings of a less than stellar day. At our put in we talked to a fellow that had been here fishing for the last week and his reports were not good. I'm a little nervous at this point. Okay I'm lying I'm a lot nervous. So we start making our way along the stream to the point I think we should pull over and try our luck. We fish it for quite a while and we are just about to move on when he hooks into a fish. A nice 16 inch walleye. Was I ever glad to see that! In the next hour and a half at that spot, he landed two more keeper walleye and four nice white bass! We had to cut the day short as he had to make the long trip back home to get ready for a business trip the next day. When we got back to the takeout, he graciously thanked me over and over for the wonderful day that he had. It was one of the best days that he is had in years and reminded him of our youth when me and him used to fish together. Something that he has not done in the last 20 years. I was all too glad to do it for him. The fishing that we all take for granted, is so coveted by those they can't do it as often as we do. I know I usually think nothing of it as I'm on the water all the time. But for those that only get to do it every now and then it is an absolute cherished moment that they will never ever forget. I'm glad that I know people of his caliber. I'm also glad that I am in a position to do something that to me is so simple and second nature but to him is one of the greatest pleasures that he will ever experience in his adult life. I often reflect back on choices that I've made in my life. And when I ponder over those reflections, I often think that the choices that I've made in life I would like to go back and redo. I think that I could've made so much more of my life and be much further than I am now. But when I take a client out on the water like I did today and all I hear is what a great life I have and that I get to do this all the time it gives me pause. Maybe I really did make the correct choices in life.
