  1. Took the wife and son and son's girlfriend out this evening. Fished from Bull Creek down to around the sunken forest area. Caught a ton of small bass. Finally picked up 2 bass about 14-16in on buzzbaits missed several more and lost one at the boat probably about 3-4lbs just came unbunttoned. The temp was not bad at all on the main lake.
  2. I am a real believer in the "magic bait" I always have crappie nibblets in the boat. I think they really make a difference when the bite is tough. Other times when they are real active, I don't think it matters as much.
  3. Was at the lake last weekend and caught several medium sized whites about 20ft deep with a spoon. Has anyone seen and schooling yet?
  4. Took a friend to the Kimberling area early this morning. Caught 10 on the PB&J Football jig in 15-25ft. 4 keepers but nothing over 16in. Dropshotted for a while and caught several small kentuckies and smallies in about 25-30ft. Also had a school of 12-14in kentuckies and smallies come up around us chasing shad and had fun catching several on spook and popR. Fun morning but it was very humid.
  5. We hit Lead Hill this past weekend and caught about a dozen eyes. Only two keepers a 19 incher and 21 incher. About 30 fow bb with nightcrawlers. Using mostly the slow death rig. Also caught a very nice mess of big bluegill along with some kentuckies and smallmouth in the 12-15in range.
  6. Finally got to go this morning for a few hours from still dark til about 10am. Fished between RB ramp and Cow creek. No topwater action. Caught twenty bass mostly smallies on FB jig in 10-15 fow and drop shotting in about 25-30ft. Only had 4 keepers with the largest being a 4lb smallmouth (1st fish of the day) also picked up two large rock bass and two nice bluegill while doing the dropshotting thing. Most of the jig fish came on main lake points. Water temp was around 85.
  7. Congrats on the good mornings!
  8. What size were the walleye and bluegill?
  9. Thanks for the reminder and the tips!
  10. Thanks Martin. Thats some of my favorite fishing and eating
  11. I think we saw that one also sunday afternoon at North Mutton. Thought the wake may swamp my Champion. Otherwise the lake down toward the flats weren't to bad to me for a holiday.
  12. I have used them in the past and they do have some good applications, but I use leadcore as it tends to track better to me than long lining and planer boards.
  13. I was bottom bouncing for walleye when I caught the bluegill and flathead with nightcrawlers, then throwing crappie jigs and topwaters for the crappie and bass.
  14. Fished most of the day in the rain it seemed. Caught a variety of fish. Several nice bluegill, 13 walleye with only one keeper, one 3lb flathead, several short crappie and only one keeper and several short bass. Caught most of these fish between 13-20 fow. Water temp was 63 most of the time. I was fishing near the twin bridges.
  15. I usually get my corp pass at the office of any corp park when they are open. It is very convenient and saves me money in the end.
  16. This time of year I usually throw topwaters shallow or spinnerbaits if you have rising water. That is just my preferences of course.
  17. I know I have asked this in the past but never got a real good answer. Does anyone know where these rock bass go during the summer months? I catch them this time of year also and love eating them, but come summertime when we catch the big gills, I never catch any.
  18. waterman, just second hand report here, but I have heard of several being caught that way lately.
  19. Had 12 nice keeper crappie today out of about 30 or so we caught near Ruark bluff. The better ones seem to be about 20ft deep. Most still had eggs also.
  20. Got to fish yesterday afternoon out of Mutton Creek with a good friend. Caught 10 walleye with only two keepers, about 30 crappie with only 10 keepers and one nice bluegill. we caught most of our walleyes 14-20fow and most of the crappie at least 14 fow. All on jigs. It was a little windy out there.
  21. We were in Schooner Creek when that hit. The clouds looked to be circulating to me and even my diehard partner agreed to seek shelter in the docks around the houseboats. I would just as soon not have to do that again
  22. I had a very hard day yesterday down on Table Rock in all the storms fishing a tourney. I got soaked to the bone and cold. So, I wasn't really wanting to go fishing this afternoon after church but I had promised a friend of mine and his son that we would give it a try. Thinking we would be hard put to catch even a few after this front, we went anyway. I could not believe it! We fished from 230pm to 530pm. We started at the back of a cove and on my first cast I caught a keeper crappie. For the next three hours, the action was pretty constant. We caught over 40 fish. Bass, crappie, whites and walleye. We only had 21 keepers. 18 crappie between 10-14inches, one 15.5in walleye and 2 large whites. We fought the wind even in the semi protected cove. The fish were on the bank between 3-10 ft. We caught them all on the swimming minnow. Water temp showed 63 most of the time we were there. I am glad I didn't cancel today
  23. Fished Monday morning for a few hours. My buddy caught a 20 inch musky and I caught a 1.5lb bluegill only two fish we caught. Water temps right at 60. Water was pretty clear. Crappie should be going good. whats up?
  24. Nice fish!! Welcome to the forum.
  25. I second that, Champ. I get into them almost every year and as you said it is some of the best topwater fishing going for a while!!! Once I have found them they usually stay in the same area for a while. Best times for me are daylight, evening and cloudy days.
