armadillos might be great for dinner. They bring their own boul to dinner.

From what I read 1 1/2 x 18 is all missouri will allow us to have. So with that I guess it will have to be big enough. However I wish it was 2 inches.
-
taxidermist, thx I will try and look it up. I think I will try to catch 2 or 3 one day.

WebFreeman Thanks so much! I like the looks of the ramp system. I would think it would be better for the crawdads it enter it.

Carp Baits Carp have been known to take baits such as corn, bread, hot dogs, cut baits, worms, prepared dough baits, cheese and many others. The best baits by far are sweet corn and simple bread dough. The bread dough is made by moistening a few slices of any kind of bread with water and kneading it until it becomes the right texture to put on a hook. If you use too much water so that it becomes soggy, just add flour and continue to knead until it looks and feels right. Some anglers like to experiment by adding their secret flavorings to the dough. Some of the well known ones are, vanilla, anise oil, peanut butter, maple syrup and my favorite, strawberry. In all honesty, I have yet to experience any real advantage with the flavored dough but it makes it more interesting to try different baits. Best Areas One of the good things about carp fishing is that it does not require a boat, in fact a boat can be a hindrance in most situations. If you choose to use a boat, find a soft sand or gravel shore and beach the boat since no matter how you anchor, the boat will swing back and forth making it next to impossible to detect a strike. The ideal spot is any beach with a sand or mud bottom and a gradual sloping shoreline. The next best is sheltered boat harbors and canals. The only problem with harbors is trying to play a battling carp among all the pilings, floats and buoys. It is best to stay away from areas with lots of structure as you will have a very difficult time trying to coax a big carp out of the stuff. Now We Go Fishing I suggest making short casts of 50 to 100 feet or so since carp like to roam the shallows. Always fish with some slack in your line and watch for any movement in the line. It is imperative that you have slack in the line because if the fish feels even the slightest resistance it will immediately drop the bait nine times out of ten. A lot of times they will start by just picking up the bait and moving a couple of inches and then dropping it. Wait until they really start moving out and then drop the rod tip and set the hook and get set for one heck of a battle. If you're using super braid line, don't set it too hard or you will snap the line or straighten out the hook. Test Your Tackle I guess that about covers it so go out and give it a try, you might be pleasantly surprised. When other species are uncooperative you can be fairly certain that the carp are still on the prowl. If you just bought a new rod and reel and you want to know how it will handle a really large and powerful fish, the carp are ready and willing to test it for you and after tangling with a few you just might become a carp. I reallt enjoy going after them with my trout rig and 2# test. .....Go-gettem!!.......

I haven't a clue as to how many there are. I only know what I have read that was posted here and there is mixed feeling as to that. All I know is it looks like you wouldn't want to place your fingers in their mouth. :0

Brown Trout Petition for the Eleven Point
jcoberley replied to Brian Sloss's topic in Conservation Issues
Eleven Point River is designated as a "Wild and Scenic River", protecting it from development that infringes upon the natural character and beauty of the river. So with that in mind I am for keeping it that way!!!! -
WebFreeman, Thanks I will try that. It looks simple. I also would like to know about ramp traps for crayfish if you happen to know anything about them. again thanks. JC

I don't know about that. However if you place worms in damp corn flour for a day you can fry them up and there breaded on the inside. Plus there real tasty! Why else would all everthing else go so crazy over eating them!
-
Are they good eating? they look a little like a cross between a fish and a snake. Do they have a lot of bones? Should we Fry them or boil and make fish soup?
-
Years ago I had a friend that used to make carp noodles from the rib meat. I never seen him prepair them however I did eat them 2 or 3 times and they were good. Not great but good.
-
Nope, I was just asking. I really dont have a way to cook out like that. I guess I need to setup for outing like this. I always brought them home to prepair. I just didn't want anyone to forget the fire! LOL
-
GF, Not to sound silly but who's incharge of the fire for the iron? Or is it propane?
-
ok LOL then lets say that the eggs were eaten by a birs and when flight thay were struck by a jet and didnt fall off untill here and then they started reproducing! LOL... I really wasnt thinking of asia however I was thinking of maybe a few miles to a few hundred. But thats just a thought. Oh well.... I was just saying where would you draw the line. I also know of a few farm ponds that were never stocked by man but after 20 years thay have pirch, bluegill, bullhead and other fish in them. I would only guess that thay came from birds. however I guess they could have hoped across a lot of dry land and avoided all the cat, dogs, coons, and such to end up in a whole new world to them. Like I said its just a thought!
-
Yep sorry wrong place to post that! LOL However lets be very carfull about this subject. If we want to look at the spoonbill run, whitebass run, crappie run, and the list go's on. All of them great fishing time are when the fish are spawing. Hummm I know there not on the nest but its the same thing and anything else would be just splitting hairs. Do we relly want to give up those great fishing times? Now just think about this a few mins before you reply!
-
Yeh GF I agree with you. If thay swim there on ther own and want to settle in then thats fine. I feel thay are native. However if thay are placed there by man then there not! This isn't hard to understand. However it has made a great read. Hey wait I forgot something. What if 2 birds ate one of there eggs and droped them (male and female) from there dropings and it just happen to get together and spawn. Hummm would they be native? Not to split hairs but just a thought!

September 19th Bennett sounds great I will be there!
