  1. Great report, thanks for sharing! I'm hoping to get out a time or two before March rolls around.
  2. Yep, out and a bit downstream from the mouth of Beaver Creek... that's one of those odd places where you've got to run along the "flat bank" side. One that almost got me years ago was down the lake, out from Wallace's cove... luckily I was just puttin' Sam, you still have your Tracker outfit? You plan to be out much this winter?
  3. When the water's in the 640's, my hands get a bit sweaty on the run between Kdock and Beaver Creek... there is alot of VERY interesting water to fish in that stretch though.
  4. Here's a question for those of you in and around Taney County... there's a fairly sizeable and influential group that's looking to build 5miles of road from Southtowne & 65 (South of Lowes) east to Kirbyville (76 and J, which is the Mincy turnoff). They are looking to package this project with a "Taney County Events Center", a 7,500 seat enclosed facility. Estimated cost ~ 57 million total. As of right now, I'm totally on board with the road... there's almost 20,000 cars a day that hit that 3-way on the east end of the Taneycomo bridge. I think, long-term, an events center near the new airport is viable... not sure if now's the right time though(?)
  5. Don't go away mad, just go away!
  6. The folks I know who live in the Carr Lane / Golden area call it Sweetwater. And shoot, I knew Big Bay was out of SK! I wish I could remember the name of the ramp around State Park... wasn't Moonshine, mebbe a private ramp(?)
  7. Here's a quick question for you all... I've heard there's a ramp near State Park that is a bit more sheltered (don't know if I could count the number of breakers I've taken over the stern putting in), is that Big Bay? thanks
  8. Would that be Sweetwater?
  9. Yeah, that's what we need, another Table Rock! I think you reiterated my point for me. :stirrinthepot: I wasn't mad when I last posted, and I sure didn't intend to make anybody else mad. Like Ham, I just thought there was too much detail in Nathan's post. Nathan, I'm happy for your boat's success, and because of last summer's high water I believe the fishing will be well above average on BS for the next year or two. That said, alot of folks (including me) have for years happily given up a better bite on TR to avoid what we all know to be the bass-fishing equivalent of a trout park in March. Anyways, no (significant) offense intended I'll make it up to you one of these days... promise!
  10. Hey Nathan, post some GPS coordinates next time, and maybe some pics of those cranks. Heck, while you're at it, you might want to take out a radio ad or somethin'
  11. Having "nubs" for pectoral fins is a classic sign of a hatchery fish... take it from an occasional trout park whore
  12. Koso, that spot is still there, and looked pretty good from the boat. I wound up camping upstream from it...
  13. Aaron, I was out there as well... overnight floated Greer to Turner. I found the best bite to be Sat afternoon... big stone flies and Don's crawdad were the ticket. I tried nymphs and buggers as well, but never had a hit on anything but the two flies above. The fish were fat and healthy, and the weather was incredible.
  14. Yeah, I'm pretty excited about it. sheesh
  15. Ouch, I was thinking of dragging the wif and kid down to Greer or maybe McCormick... do the fly flingers fill up these camps? I guess the Greer - Turner float will be a bit crowded on Sat the 17th? thanks :-)
  16. Hey lonkm... are you putting in on the Protem side or the Cedar Creek side of Elbow? thanks!
  17. Hey guys, just got a call from my buddy... says she is now purring like a hockey mom! It was some aspect of the carb inner workings, he didn't explain but he said it was simple and all I owe him is some hog mollie filets this winter! Sherwood, good luck to you. A diaphram kit is an easy and cheap place to start, all you need is your serial # and google to get started. ps, I know a guy (Jeff) who runs a pontoon boat on Sherwood with his 3 little crumbsnatchers and his super-fine mrs.! Ever run into them?
  18. Hey Martin, I made that trip 2 weeks ago, but was stopped about 1/2 mile short of Powersite dam due to a huge amount of flotsam... did you see this as well? On Monday (9/1) we put in at the end of Elbow (on the Protem side). We didn't fish, we just motored around and explored between Lead Hill and Fine Addition. I sure do love that part of the lake... holiday weekend, and we saw maybe a dozen boats all day.
  19. Hoo boy! If there's too many skiers at Bull Shoals, can you imagine what Table Rock must be like? I think I'll take Martin's advice and give Buck Creek a try on Sunday. I'll let you all know how that goes.
  20. Thanks lonkm... I guess that's the conditions at Beaver Creek park as well... not the backing part, but the pitch is pretty shallow and you do have to get your feet wet. When's the last time you went? Is the water up to where the road is still paved (where the docks on the right are moored)? I was hoping somebody's been to Buck Creek (or 125 for that matter)... I sure miss that part of the lake!
  21. I'm thinking about making a day trip this Sunday... the way the water's been dropping, I'd guess the lake level will be somewhere around 679. Buck Creek is a little like Beaver Creek... within the park there are several roads meandering around, so I would guess that a guy could find a place to launch. Last weekend we launched at Beaver Creek with not much difficulty. Has anybody launched at Buck Creek recently? How about Elbow? thanks a bunch
  22. Kevin, it's the diaphram style, and I've replaced it to no avail. Dutch, thanks very much for the offer... we'll see how my buddy does with it first.
  23. Not a lot of responses... mebbe this isn't the right venue! anyways, a buddy in the Clever area is taking a look at it. I was gonna tear down the carb as far as I dared and sonicate the sucker, might still wind up doing that before all is said and done.
  24. I hope I get the call this year... if so I'm all in!
  25. Hey guys, I've got a Mercury 9.8 HP. I believe it is an early 80s model. The thing runs like a champ on starter fluid sprayed straight in the carb, but will not run otherwise. I've done the diaphram kit thing, to no effect. Tips would be appreciated, as would recommendations for a reputable shade tree mechanic in the Spfld/Branson area. thanks! Ken
