  1. Thanks for the info guys...... Can any of you guys tell me how many river miles there are from Bagnell down to the Missouri River?? Sounds like I can run anywhere if they are running water. If they are not, will I be able to go upstream say 10 miles and float back down to the Bagnell ramp? How about upstream from the Osage-Tavern ramp? I can't seem to find much info on this river so any help from any of you guys would be huge. Thanks
  2. Looks like the bass fishing is pretty good on the Osage. I've never tried it but did go and look at the ramp outside of St. Elizabeth yesterday. I would like to try it. Would this be a good ramp to start at?? Do you guys ever catch any smallmouth in the Osage? Also, I have a Seaark Rivercat 2072 with a 115 Yamaha prop, will this boat be OK on the Osage?? Thanks
  3. I went alone this trip, had to nobody else could make it. Started out shortly after midnite down by the dam. 3 short fish and not many bites. Still seems that after dark the fishing is slow at best. Still no brushpile bites at night..My temp guage read 83, up several degrees from the past weekend.Right at first light I fished a brushpile in about 10' of water. I hooked a big fish on a jig, but lost it. Never got to see it. For the next 2 hrs, I landed 3 other shorts and that was it. Once the sun popped over the trees, it was over. Lots of debris floating.. The Bagnell Dam lake report again said heavy generation. BUT, I went down below the dam and there was NOT hardly any water running thru....
  4. Iv'e been using Stren Magnathin in 6lb test for a while..
  5. I called the LOZ report from Bagnell on Friday and it said heavy generation for the next 3 days. It says that again tonight. I do know they update the report everyday. Check it out-573-365-9205.
  6. I don't know what to expect with all this rain we are getting. All 11 flood gates are open and have been for quite a while. Truman is 3-4' high and they are running it right thru LOZ. In normal years, the worm/jig/brush hog bite is good in the brushpiles by this time. I believe the good current out on the main lake helps on the points. When the gates are closed and the current diminishes, the brushpile bite should get good again. It usually is pretty clear in the areas we fished, but not now. I did forget to mention tubes. My buddy, in the green rain suit, caught that one on a TX rigged tube. My son and myself caught ours on jigs. Just before it started cracking light Sat morning, they both hooked up with good fish in the 4-5lb range at the exact same time... Oddly enough, neither one was boated. My son had his knot slip and his biggest bass ever was gone, my buddy had his just come unbuttoned. One hit the tube and the other was on a big brush hog.
  7. We started out in the Gravois at about 1:30am Friday night/Sat morning....No brushpile bite to speak of yet. Caught a few here and there, mostly relating to points. Brush hogs and worms worked but it was slow........Near daybreak, we ran out to the main lake and hit main lake points with much better results. Jigs seemed to do the best. When the sun cleared the tree tops, the bite was over........ Saturday night we started with about 45 minutes of light left, and we started near the dam fishing main lake points/docks....We did well with jigs and the brush hog again. Around 11pm the bite slowed and really didn't pick up much till around 4am Sunday morning. It was then cloudy and a little rainy but the fish were again biting. We had a decent bite until 9am. It had been a couple of years since we hit LOZ at night. Not many boats out like there used to be so it seemed. It was actually pretty peaceful and we really enjoyed it. Lots of trash floating and it was everywhere making it hard to avoid. Water was 75-76 degrees and very stained on the main lake. Gravois looked a little cleaner but not much.

MO Smallmouth- Upper section of the Big Piney below Dogs Bluff-18.5" fighter on a Agnew rigged tube....

  12. I have done the Slabtown-6 Crossings float already this year, about a month ago. I encountered 3 problems.......... 1-low number of smallmouth...we did not catch many. , 2- the island just above 6 Crossings,...have not been able to take the left channel for quite some time(years) although the water volume is greater, it is log JAMMED. The right side has much less water (you will do some dragging unless it is up) AND since all of the very high water levels as of late, there now is a huge tree blocking the way. Due to the long shuttle, Rich's Last Resort does not put canoes in above 6X therefore there is a great possibility no one will be clearing the way anytime soon. Odd how the MO Paddlers book (The updated OZ Hawksley float book) does not mention this island.................?? 3- it is a long time consuming shuttle from 6X back to Slabtown, even using the gravel "shortcuts" which felt like they added time to the shuttle although they were shorter mileage wise.. And, I was advised not to leave a vehicle unattended overnight at Slabtown. Turns out nothing happened, but it was on my mind the whole time.
