  1. Got a house and deck that needs staining. Anyone on here do that or know of someone who does?
  2. great reports duck and rps. Duck, was that eye caught near a shallow brushy area? Keep those updates coming fellas, couple more weeks and my sons youth sports will be over and we will join y'all. RPS, still have that spook you gave me, it's a little beat up but still catching them.
  3. Things are really good. We haven't spent as much time at the lake as we want to with the kids involved in sports and other activities. We need to get together this summer and throw the spook early in the morning.
  4. Hi all, My son and I are coming down next saturday and looking to float part of the kings. Has anyone been out lately? Is the water to high and fast to float?
  5. great stories guys. sometimes its easier to let them sleep in than go out with me. These threads remind me why it is important to take make the extra effort to get the 14 year old to come out there with me. Dad always waited for me, I can do the same. Thanks
  6. Went to college at Tech, lived in Flower Mound and Clear lake before moving to Kansas City. Where you at in eagle rock?
  7. Good to see another Texan join the ranks of homeowners on the "quiet side of the lake". You picked a great area, a great lake and a great forum to become a member of.
  8. RPS, you didn't miss much this morning. Had a couple of Ks on the spook jr that I gave the long distance release to ( or they gave to me ). Could not find the whites anywhere, would love to fry a few tomorrow. I looked all the way to the eagle rock marina. Depending which way you go tomorrow, I will see ya early. Boat traffic was bad at 9:00am. Go Red Raiders! Good luck to all Big 12 schools
  9. The best bbq is the original Oklahoma Joes in the gas station i think its at 44th and mission. Great sandwichs, get the zman and fries ( the fries are unbelievable and a huge portion ). Jack Stack on 95th and metcalf is good as well, the chicken wings as an appetizer are great. Some people love wabash in the northland, it's ok. Go to okie joes.
  10. this thread is tired, lock it, let's move on already. How's the fishing?
  11. thanks rps, now I'll have to root for the sooners in more than just the red river shoot out... ok I will root for them when they play a&m
  12. RPS, Great to meet you on Sunday and thanks for the dressed up spook you gave me. Looking forward to throwin it next time I get down to the cabin. Went out Saturday morning early. Caught 5 or 6 10 inch whites in a shallow brushy cove on spook jrs. Went out Saturday night to the same area for a short trip...My son caught a monster K on a jr right after I told him it was too far away from the brush he was throwin at. Did not hear the end of it for the rest of the night, but what does Dad know. Went out Sunday morning with my wife caught several whites in the mouth of a cove just waiting for them to bust some shad on the surface. Moved to leatherwood creek after dropping my wife off at the dock and worked the pilons both top, mid, and bottom caught a couple of Ks around 10:00am. Got out Tuesday and Wednesday - Wednesday was the best with my friend catching a 4lb K on a C rigged 11 inch worm working a bluff in about 25 ft of water, course I was throwning a spook and had to move to a cove where they were busted the surface, caught one 2lb k and that was it, should have stuck it out on the bluff more hits and better fish. Heading to Idaho ( McCall area ) on Saturday for our yearly week of trout fishing. Thanks again Randy and hope to see you out there again, maybe you can teach me how to catch those eyes on a consistent basis.
  13. good looking walleye, glad to see they can be found. Looks like your boat is back up and runnin. Will be down next week looking for one just like that. Keep me updated RPS and I will do the same when I get there.
  14. Troutfinder, Fished with several guides on the rock from the dam to Big M and my best times have been with Don House. A true professional in every sense of the word. A quick story, went out with Don during the spoonbill season this year with my 12 and 10 year old sons. the bills were not cooperating and if you every have been spoonbill fishing, snagging can get old mighty quick. An hour in to the trip the boys were tired and Don ended up steering the boat and snaggging at the same time. Don was very encouraging and patient with my boys. What could have been a very negative experience turned into a very positive one. The other times I have been out with Don he put us on fish quickly. Would recommend Don and I look forward to our Taney trip hunting down the slimy silver fish this summer.
  15. Fished from just above Holiday island to just below, looking for whites, crappie and walleyes. Threw white grubs, inline spinners, 1/16 jigs with minnows, and spooks for the Ks. Caught at least 50 fish, mostly small whites. Did catch one nice crappie, 3 2-3 pound whites, several keeper Ks ( one 4 pounder ), and one big walleye about 4 1/2 pounds. Fished shallow coves about two casts from the shore. Ignored the rain and had a great couple of days with a good friend.
  16. sorry to hear about all of that, rps. I will be down alot during the next month, i'd be happy to take you out on my boat so you do not miss any topwater action.
  17. RPS, I am impressed with your fishing skills, but less than impressed with your college of choice . I did drink the kool-aid, heavily I might add, at the begining of the year. I really thought that if the Red Raiders were ever going to do it this was the year. After two games I have my doubts. I think the game in Norman will still be important in deciding the Big 12 south champ. But more importantly, I know of the flooded timber area that you speak of. I think I will throw some spoons at them next time down. My dock is on the otherside from that area ( brandy station ).
  18. Top water bite was on today! Caught 30-35 K's with 5 that would keep, 1 3lb white bass, and one small blue gill. Went out before sun rise just above holiday island and fished to the cave and back, got off the water a little after noon. Threw a small rapala popper in frog pattern, a larger blue and white one, and a spook jr and they crushed it. Worked the main channel and threw at the bass bustin the shad on the top. They were every where from just after sun break till about 10:00am. First time this year seeing the white bass working a shad ball. Only got close enough to one feeding frenzy and the whitey crushed it. Great day with some great friends. Now if a could only find some Walleyes, any luck rps? Lots of cloud cover, water temp 72.
  19. RPS, I noticed alot of dead, floating white bass on Sunday from the MO/AR border to the eagle rock bridge on Sunday. Did you notice them? You whacked them better than I did. Caught one short on a top-water popper. Nice Walleye are you using planer boards? Thanks for the info.
  20. 1st report so go easy on me Fished last Sunday and Monday before the rains. Caught 2 keeper Ks on a lucky craft pointer and one real nice 2 1/2 pd LM on a x-rap ( olive green size 8 ) all right off points in 10-15ft of water. Something much bigger hit the x-rap and broke off my #8 spider wire ( should have checked my drag before hand! ). Boys caught a couple of small LM on crappie minnows under a bobber. Would have fished after the rains but could not get to the boat and if a could have reached the dock there was 20 ft of debris behind the boat. Saw a white with a green stripe capsized bass boat float be the house friday afternoon, wonder if anyone else saw it. Thanks for all the great fishing tips on the rock it really helps. Happy Easter everyone.
