  1. Creve Couer is that up by St. Louis?
  2. Anybody have a nice used Canon XTi body? I have an XT and want to upgrade but I have three lenses and 2 flashes. Thanks love reading the posts on this site.
  3. Lawrence Photo in Springfield is very good and the Matte prints look SOOOO much better than the glossy you get at Wal-Mart
  4. It's fairly deep in most spots but there are two shelves that if you are going back up you will have to drag your canoe up.
  5. I've been there a few times. Very beautiful. As far as fishing the only place really to fish is the pool right below the falls. Lots of little sunnies but thats about it. I'm sure there is a smallie or two but they are probably so spooked by all the swimmers it would be really tough to catch them. The rest of the creek is very little and lots of overhanging trees.
  6. Most of the fish were caught on swimming minnows a couple on crawdad crankbaits. We only saw four kayakers on the water till we got close to Shelvin.
  7. Got a late start and didn't put in till noon. But there were still fish to be caught. Lots of 8-12 inch fish maybe 4 over 12 and then a monster my dad caught. and my monster
  8. I don't know I would call dillo's invasive as just expanding their range. MTB I think you went to Missouri State and if you had Robbin's Mammalogy we went over dillo's and how they are expanding their range. The people of Mexico and Central America actually use to hunt dillo's for use, not eating but other stuff. Now they are not hunted and been able to expand north without any pressure. Man if you like talking about this take a class at MO State called Biogeography. The past three years not counting this one have been really light winters allowing dillo's to travel north. I'm sure if we get some really cold weather for an extended amount of time it will kill off the dillos up north.
  9. Here is an easy way to figure out what kind of sucker you have when you catch one. Around here you will probably catch either a White Sucker, Golden or Black Redhorse. To determine a White Sucker vs a Redhorse look at the scales they will start small and get larger toward the tail in a White Sucker. The Redhorses are a little harder you have to count the lateral line scales. If there are around 42 you have a Golden and if there are around 45 or more you have a Black. Compared to each othere Blacks have a narrower caudal peduncle but if you only have one fish its tough to guess.
  10. The're not alligator gar they are longnose gar. Can't hardly catch them with a hook. You can use frayed rope jigs with out hooks to catch them sometimes, gets caught in their teeth. You can google how to catch them I know there are a few websites to show you how.
  11. Speaking of taking bass off the nests I was listening to the Fishing radio show today and thats about all I heard was how to catch bass of nests and how a guy spent 2 1/2 hours getting one seven pound bass off a nest. Horrible
  12. I was throwing a swimming minnow. I think anything would work. If you fish there you get a lot of practice with your accuracy because there are tons of logs in that backwater. I lost probably 5 or 6 jigs.
  13. The day was perfect but the water was up and I have no idea where to find fish on the Current. I'm can fish smaller rivers where there is a definite line between riffle and pool. I caught one smallmouth around 12 inches. I'll get more practice later and get good at it. What was fun was the backwater behind watercress spring and we were catching chain pickerel like crazy. Those little buggers are fun to catch.
  14. I think its just an old wives tale. Every fish gets stressed and produces lactic acid when being caught but I don't see any scientific studies saying that white bass will all die after they are being caught. Really the only study I have found is that Striped Bass are more sensitive Hybrid Bass.
  15. Nice, were you up on the shoals by the Turnpike bridge. Heading down there Tuesday morning to get them again.
  16. Going on a group trip at the end of the month to Steel Creek by Ponca. I've never been up that far up and have heard the fishing isn't that great. Did I hear right or should I try to wet a line. Thanks
  17. Going down to do a little float during spring break next week from Waymeyer to Van Buren. I've never been on the river this early and wondering about what works best? I'm just thinking jigs and small spinnerbaits. Am I on the right track? Thanks
  18. Went down to Twin Bridges today. Got down there a little late as I heard they were killing them early in the morning. Went to the spot Phil and JR talked about and caught a huge white bass on a white beetle spin. Then caught about 20 WB, 3 crappie and a drum using my friends super secret white bass lure. Nothing like JR got into but everything was fat. Nobody was really slaying them just would randomly pick one up.
  19. I want to go fishing... I want to go fishing... I want to go fishing...
  20. This thing was a MONSTER!!!!
  21. Do you need a boat or can you fish on the bank or wade. Also how much is an out of state liscense. Thanks
  22. I wasn't saying it wasn't done just the fact that I'm a bad fisherman.
  23. Huh I went over there today and couldn't get anything to bite. First time I was there, very nice place
  24. Fellows Lake outside of Springfield MO has muskies If you want to chase pickerel there are some Grass Pickerel in Crane Creek and farther east in the Current River and others are the larger Chain Pickerel
  25. For some reason the big rivers never come to mind. Yeah there are some saugers in those rivers.
