Nah I saw your big head and grass carp in the picture but was trying to figure out your mystery fish. Buffalo have a dorsal fin a lot like carp.

O.K. just got on here and had another guess at the mystery fish. Maybe you have two types of Buffalo Bigmouth and Smallmouth. Bigmouth Buffalo have an oblique mouth meaning it is straight across not facing up or down. Smallmouth Buffalo have a downturned mouth. Man this is bugging me not knowing what kind of fish those were

Were there heads kind of triangle shaped and have a marbled color? If so they were Northern Hog Suckers. But looking through your pics I couldn't see any. Got any pics and I can tell you what they are. Chris

Hey great site just found it through the MSU website. I'm a graduate student working on stream ecology mainly focusing on fish communities. Looking for pristine (If thats possible) and not so pristine sites to sample this spring and summer. Plus maybe I can learn a thing or two.
