Went out with Bill Babler yesterday with my dad and son. We launched at Scotty's and went up to Roark Creek. Nobody was there and we KA-Rushed them. We had a limit of solid fish in about 15 minutes. And you know its a good day when you lose track on how many you catch. Gotta thank Bill for taking us out and showing us where to catch the fish. Dad wanted to go out again so we went down again this morning and fished the bank. Word must have gotten out because when we got there at 8:30 there were about 6 boats up the creek. Not as many fish but we limited out again on solid fish in less than two hours. Not as many biting fish in there from the day before but still caught a bunch of fish.
Channel Catfish don't regularly reproduce in the Buffalo as it flows into the COLD White river and it screws up where they like to spawn (I used to know the full reason as I worked for the park service one year). There are a lot more flatheads but channel cats are pretty rare in the Buffalo
Went up Sunday morning got there around 7. Not running any water. If you were there early and got a spot near the handicap pier and had the set up to throw your bait out a really long ways you would have caught fish. Lots of crappie and whites being caught. Me on the other had with my 7ft rod I walked away with a Spotted Bass..... Gonna have to buy one of those 15ft rods
I can fish with a swimming minnow all day long and catch fish. Anything with a spinner will produce fish also. Last year I spent a week on the river Baptist down to Big Spring. I used about three different baits and spent most of it with the swimming minnow. You shouldn't have a problem catching fish
Wanting to do a nice two day float. I'm not looking for trout just maybe some smallies (to release) and some nice Ozark Bass or Panfish to fry up for dinner on the river. I'm also considering the Jacks Fork and wondering if it has enough water in it now, the Buck Hollow to Eminence looks like a fun float. Going at the beginning of next week. Thanks for the info
Went for a float with some friends Sunday afternoon. I was the only one fishing so I didn't get to fish hard just took some opportune casts in the fishy places. I did catch a really nice Largemouth around 2lbs in a slough while my friends were looking for turtles. Then right before the take out at Hootentown I caught the biggest Smallmouth of my life I measured him on the cooler we had and checked it when I got home and it was 19inches. My buddy has a video of it and when I get it from him I'll try to post it but it was a monster. Did catch a White Bass in a deep channel and some nice panfish. Caught everything on a swimming minnow.
I hope so I just baked up 5 different species I caught on Sunday and had a nice little lunch... ack... gag... naw they were delicious. 1 nice largemouth, 1 goggle-eye, 1 bluegill, 1 white bass and 2 longears yummy
I'm not big on him rationalizing that if fishermen use bait it's O.K. for hunters to use bait. Hard to thow a little buck back that you shot through the heart with your big bad bow there mister nuge. AHHHH can you smell it the beast has given himself for the mother earth and the spirit is alive with me... whatever nuge you're a freak
Exactly, if all you want to do is catch fish to keep the little ones occupied you couldn't go to a better spot. Just throw out one line with worms and let the little ones catch all the bluegills they can handle.
Thinking about heading down tonight if the wife lets me. Are the rapalas still working like last winter? I would assume so but just checking thanks
