Heres a message a dork dinking for dinks with a wood handle net attached to his D-ring once relayed. When dinking in brushy areas the sounds to listen for are "ping",which only means your elastic broke and you have to turn around and retrieve.A mild, muffeled" bonk" means get ready for some mild to moderate pain useally around the posterier region. But a loud"BONK" means you hooked your net high and your about to receive heavy amounts of pain and have a large knot on your knoggin area.So save wood handle nets for the boat or firepit. The hard part is trying to figure,do dorks go dorking for dinks or dinking for dinks?

I would also like to note that in my new avatar picture. That I was a fully licensed non-resident,accessed the river by a fully licensed and insured state concessineer, the fish was caught on artificial bait[brown trout #7 rapala]with one single, barbless hook, was immediately released after picture,I'm clearly above the sign but not past the cable and floating down the middle of a navigable river. sign, sign, everywhere a sign,do this don't do that ,can't you read the sign

Trying to figure out river access in Mo. is one very hard nut to crack. Some land owners say they own up to the bank, some say middle of river, some say all of it ,when they own both sides. Very few say high water mark but I've heard that too.A call to the local conservation office will get you,the state only owns the water you float over on "navigable streams".Thats a bit confusing when you see hundreds of floaters, campers, fishers, frisbee thowers all enjoying a sand, gravel bar[high water mark] on a major holiday weekend. They can't all be guest of the landowner...or are they?I have put in many calls to find a solid answer but have yet found one.The best I can determine is it's up to how the prosecuting attorney of that county interprets the law[circumstance].Which may get you over a hundred diffrent answers seeing how we have that many counties. Won't be long and will see floating porta-potties with gang planks or pay toilets streamside.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't 15" browns legal in Missouri? It may be 20" in Taney? And NO I was at work!!!!

I own a stradic 2000, get it wet binds so tight you can't turn the handle.I also have a symetre 750,been wet several times notta problem.....yet.Stradic's been in the shop twice in last 5 years. The reels smooth when fresh from shop......just don't get it wet.Something about the lube is incased and can only be relubed at dealer authorized repair shop or you void warranty.Shimino's drags are excellent, especially when using light line[1lps.-2lps.test].

Thanks Seth,It's always nice to put a face with a name.Especially when you have been talking to them for a year. You were hammering them!Nice fishing with you.Good luck with the paddelfish trip.

Seth,I did'nt go opening.Woke up Thursday a.m. and they had Rolla under a tornado watch.....bailed.Woke up Saturday looked out the window and there's a blizzard blowing sideways.....bailed.Finally went this p.m.,caught them on copper johns, san jaun worms, and one on top with a bwo.Did'nt see any real hogs but lost a nice one at the bridge.Red worms were the best, segmented with magic marker.Judging from your avatar this should be no surprise to you.

Sounds like you had a good trip.I fished Maramac springs this P.M. and had a similar experience.I was catching them on a orange san jaun and lost it on a large bow.Looked in my fly box and the only one in there was a red one with magic marker stripes[bands].One I tied after reading one of your post.Out-fished my "ole reliable" this time. Thanks for the tip but......you got to have the right number of bands.

Welcome Patrick, nice to talk to you again.I want to thank you again for your hospitality and help. It's not everyday you meet someone so generous with there time and knowledge. My friend and I had an excellent time thanks to you on our last trip to the White.Talking to you made me realize not every resort owner out there is trying to make a buck on every visitor to your state. You offered your time and resources to two complete strangers.Thank you for that act of genuine kindness.I'm sure you will like it here because there are many here like you.I'm also sure that this site will be better having someone with the knowledge and access that you have.Looking forward to your post.Oh yeah, thanks for walking up to my truck and getting and untangling my net while I was landing that nice brown. My partner could learn a good lesson from you. I'm going to be coming down soon when and if the weather breaks and I hope you will have some room. Shawn

Thanks Phil and Vonreed,I was'nt sure I should open post for fear of virus or worse fear of wife's footsteps behind me. -
Go to the ozark anglers homepage[scroll to the top of forum page and click on ozarkanglers.com]There's a picture of a shrimp, click it.Phil's got some good pictures of scuds[shrimp].When you get to Taney just reach down in the water and grab some gravel I'm sure you'll get a few. They look grey to me.Good luck.

Now that's a shame. They must have some tricks up there sleeves because don't you have to have a valid e-mail to register? If so you'd think they would get caught. -

I was checking out the wheatly's at T.Hargroves in St.Louis and they had a 20 or 40 compartment model with see thru spring lids but man they were phat $195-$200.Don't know if thats what your looking for but check it out here's the number 314-968-4223.I would think Tom could get just about anything that concerns fly-fishing new or used if he wanted.
