  1. Dont forget to check the river out, wont be long before those browns start moving upriver.
  2. PM to you Dumb to fishing.
  3. Nice ,alway's fun with your kid.
  4. Yes Bikehikefish is right, same thread.I too think it's overkill sometimes, but it's strong stuff, stronger than you would think.I prefer the 2lps. green maxima, but carry a spool of wally's thread whether spin or fly fishing. The nylon thread spools are small and easy to carry. The only problem I've found with it,seems to break down quick.Dont last as long as premium mono/floro.
  5. Nice, well done.If your going in blind and looking to scout?Take hwy 341 over the White, just upstream of the Norfork. They're is a lot of National forest right when you cross the bridge, upriver is Buffalo national park[you can hunt bear there too].No baiting allowed in either, maybe you can knock on some doors bordering the parks for baiting. In the national forest try Prospect mtn. area.Good luck
  6. I hear yea.I talked to the guy earlier this year, he said they did'nt get any bears last year.Said he had bears all over his bait, early bow season.....then the acorns started dropping.Bears up'ed and left his bait. I can understand why he charges what he does though, lotta time, effort, and money goes into baiting. So........you gotta story and some pic's of that Canadian bruiser?
  7. Muleball,I know a bear guide around Norfork, Ark. that baits. He can set you up with a house too.Pretty cheap around $700-800 for a three day hunt.I think he may thow in deer and/or a pig too.PM me if interested and I'll search for his number.
  8. My PM. was not so much Jeremy would get unnerved, more making you aware Jeremy was the boys dad.So you wouldn't make light of a bad situation. This of course was before Jeremys last post. Making fun of a 5 year old getting hurt is not funny but I'm sure Trav didn't know the whole story, hence the rebuttal. Now Trav you owe the kid a boat ride and dad gets a guided trip for big browns on beautiful lower Taneycomo.
  9. Mike, like Trizkid said,"could'nt have said it better myself". I perfer orange with a white stripe worm.Wallys has thread in they're sewing department thats good. You really have to have a good drag, but I guess you know that.
  10. Jeremy, there are no stupid questions here, just stupid jokes. DJ's is on the east side of hwy8 as you turn left off 44 [presuming your coming from the east] two or so blocks on your left from 44 exit.A little drive through bait shop, across from the super market. You can get rubber legs at the meramac springs store too ,by the hooks /flys.
  11. Jeremy thanks for the heads up where they are at.I'll take the road till winter.Hope the boy's still doing alright.
  12. Sent two PM's recently neither went through?Any help?
  13. Yea ,good luck with your hunt Seth.I know that Peck Ranch should hold big deer.Vast timber stands, remote hardwood forest, best left for a younger man. I have about 1500 acres to hunt on around here for deer and turkey and a 500 acre lease in north Mo. for birds and deer.My boys and I shoot only what we can eat so the shoot three doe or shoot a doe,tag it,so you can buck hunt just dont appeal to us.The whack'em and stack'em day's for me are pretty much over.I'd much rather enjoy a quality buck hunt and go home empty then to have to let a trophy buck pass to shoot a doe.We do harvest 3-4 does a year on our farms, just cant eat that many more.
  14. Excellent, man look at the girth on that bigger one.............freakin awesome Rick I cant wait to see the whole story on that one. When you told me about it you still had the enthusiasm like you caught it that morning. The long story on that one is a "Fish Story". Now what happens to me for posting that hippie northern lake smallie.......... I guess I'll be banished to the Snaggle-Toothed Gar Forum...............Or worse,I'll have to go to OA New Years day get together at Taney........Wearing big bells a plaid CPO with a mullett cut. Freakin Awesome my man.......Freakin Awesome
  15. Thanks for the offer, but I got plenty of spots Never thought I would say that Just a reminder for the less fortunate.I have to swerve my truck all the time just to go to work.Have to stay on your toes to drive at night around here.I did apply to Swan Lake, big bucks there. With only a 3% chance to get drawn I wont get picked, but will add a point to my record, thus increasing my odds.My stratagy is to build points and go for the harder more desirable hunts.
  16. Nice one!
  17. That's funny you say that.My buddy[the guy with the big bells holding the fish]Kurt's ring tone is an Ozzy song.
  18. If your going to apply for a managed deer hunt ,you better get with it.One more day.August1-15 is the deadline//http:.www.mdc.mo.gov/
  19. Sorry Al,should have known I could'nt get that one by you. Rainy Lake,Canada In my defense..........It is a Smallmouth.
  20. Yes,this is a 5lps smallie.No, It's not me.It's my friend Kurt.Yes,I did used to dress that way.
  21. I just read on another forum that a child went into the woods on one of the trails by the springs and was attacked by a swarm of yellow jackets. He went to answer the call of nature and dad said he heard a blood curdling scream.Boy runs out of the woods covered by yellow jackets[the ground nesting kind].Had to dunk him, half undress him,and still sustained multable stings/bites.So be aware if you cut through the many trails around the park.By the way the kid is doing fine.......just dont want to go to the springs no more.
