  1. Tim, I would buy one because I think it's a great idea. An additional option could include that if someone wanted to keep fish they would also need to have a daily tag. Don
  2. I got mine too and there was some good stuff in the box. Thanks for all the work and effort as host John. However, I noticed something weird. I received two flies from each except from myself. I then remembered I only sent one for each person. One for two! Looks like I'm the big winner. Apparently I can't follow directions. I'ts a wunder I grajuaded the eihghtgh graid. Here's what I can do. If you PM me your address I'll send the other fly. Zach, I'll attach the recipe this time. I have to look up the kind of dubbings I used on the body. Don

    Friday's Concerts

A friend of mine saw Rush in concert in St Louis friday and said they were awesome. Since I couldn't go, a friend and I watched "Rush in Rio" DVD. There were also some good country acts in Springfield friday. Phil Vassar and Dirks Bentley. I'm a big fan of live music, mostly country and classic rock. Don
  4. I crocked some Bush's beans Friday night. It's a fast side order as opposed to the Settler's beans I usually fix. These had a sweeter flair to them. I use 2 cans, usually original and or onion. I browned 1 to 2 pounds of burger and drained. I then added Country Bob's sauce to the burger back into the pan and stirred. Then I added burger to beans in the crockpot. Times before I've added jalapeno's, onions, or bacon. Don
  5. Fished from 7:00-1:30PM. Things were rather slow. The fog didn't completely lift until 10:00. I was hoping to succeed with soft hackles but came up empty. There was not alot of action on top. I wandered up and down from the cable to the big hole. I brought 11 bows to the net. I had just as many long distance catch and releases. One was a nice 17" caught with a tan and copper zebra midge. All others were caught with bunny leech, scuds, and egg patterns. I also foul hooked a couple of nice suckers. I saw only one fish that would have measured 20". Don
  6. I'll have my MOJO dove spinning at the end of my driveway with a couple of decoys on the barbed wire fence. I'll step outside every now and then and blast a few. I hope my daughters want to shoot with me. We'll marinate the breasts in soy and worcestershire, wrap them in bacon, and grill them. Don
  7. Think twice about shaking hands with him. Don
  8. Neat story Dano. I was 15 years old at home with my parents when it was announced on TV. I called a friend of mine (who still flyfishes with me today) and told him. About 12 years later, I stopped at a greasy spoon in the middle of Montana. Elvis was there, still alive. He cooked my cheeseburger. Don
  9. I have not a clue. I always consider the weekday pattern, the weekend pattern, the current nationwide temperatures, and the lake levels. I still get surprised. Don
  10. I fished Beaver for my second time, my first time back since the charity tournament in 04/2007. I visited with several fishermen who I met down there on my last visit. It was great to see you guys and know you are getting on the fish. I fished canebreak from 8:00-9:30 and only brought 2 fish to the net. I then tied on an ugly midge and the bite was on. I caught 6 more until I had to stop at 10:45. After running a few errands and eating lunch, I hit the same spot at 12:30 as the sun was bearing down. The action was still good as I caught 10 more stocker size bows on the same midge. I also had quite a few long distance catch-and-releases. I was having a blast while the cool water complimented the hot weather. I finally had to bring things to a halt when the horn blew early at 2:00. Great scenery and good fishing. I'll be back. Don
  11. I mailed mine Saturday. They are also supposed to catch bass as well as trout. Don
  12. I bet that was a blast. The girls are at a good age for that experience. I have good memories with my three daughters at RR when they were younger. Don
  13. Oh no! Not a bass fly! I've been busier than ever lately but I plan to have mine in the mail by the deadline. Don
  14. Dang! I had a funny feeling we would keep you here after I missed a couple of prayers. Congratulations and best wishes in your new endeavors. Don
  15. I've been experiencing a bumper crop of squirrels in my neck of the woods near Clever and Republic MO. I seem to see several on the road each day. The other day, my friend drove to Republic to eat breakfast. He said he could not believe how many squrirrels he saw on the road coming back from Republic. I'm just curious how he knew those squirrels were coming from Republic. He must have seen them at the breakfast buffet. Don
  16. And by the way, that hurt like heck. Maybe if I got me a pink rod and reel with pink hat and waders, I'd have the fishin' hole of my choice all to myself? Don
  17. Mr Ducky, Glad to see you back on the board. That work thing is overrated. I'll put you on my prayer list for those seeking employment. Don
  18. Maybe Leonard will let you borrow his skunk suit. Don
  19. Thanks for sharing the pic. That's a nice brownie. Oh, by the way, happy birthday Leonard. Don
  20. My friend Greg and I arrived about 3:30 from a morning trip to Taney and we fished a few hours in the Fly Zone. It's a rare thing to find me in a trout park on a Saturday but our options were limited. We initially wanted to fish the C&R area but we spotted at least 6 people out there as we drove over the bridge. I didn't catch as many as I usually do when I'm at RR. I stayed in one spot all afternoon. Not crowded at first so the fish were biting good. As fishermen arrived at the pool, the action slowed down. I finished with 13 bows all taken on a variety of scuds, zebras, cracklebacks, and leeches. Greg caught at least twice as many, taking most of his with beetles, midges, and san juan worms. My nicest fish was a dark colored fat 15 inch bow. Don
  21. My friend Greg and I hit the water around 9:00 AM. I counted 40 fisherman from the stairs of Chute 2. I rarely fish Saturdays down there but did so because of Greg's availability. We have been fishing together for 33 years and I'm 45 years old. We went down to KOA for some elbow room. I started stripping streamers to no avail. I tried a few zebra midges bot not much was happening when I noticed a little action on top. Finally it was soft hackles. I landed 16 fish drifting and swinging in the faster water. Colors were green, sulfur, and red. Greg caught almost as many but about a half a dozen of his were picked up on a black and brown ant pattern. None were of any size, 12-14 inches, but they hit hard. We also missed alot of strikes. Things finally started to slow as the sun blared down so we left for flyshop, lunch, and a drive to Roaring River. Don
  22. Might be slow to some, but landing a fish average every 10 minutes? I'll take a day like that any time. Don
  23. Bearden's Beetle. Don
  24. I bought a pair of Simms Guide waders 2 months ago after wearing a substandard brand for several years. Where have I been? I like them so much I might just sleep in them tonight before I hit Taney in the morning. I also bought a $55.00 pair of Chota boots two years ago in an emergency situation. My cheap brand boots fell apart on me in the middle of the Norfork. At the time I couldn't afford the nicer $100 pair of Chota's that I really wanted. They are a great boot. The downside is that I may never get the better pair until these wear out. Don
  25. I had mine custom made at Canvas Mallory Awning Banner Tarp Industrial and Recreational Products. Don
