  1. Some of you respected elders may have a few years on me but I still feel like an old buzzard beacuse I have alot of mileage, mostly highway miles........runs good, body rough, a little rusty, automatic, positrac, battery needs charged now and then, saves gas . Don
  2. Oh great, Looks like I'll have to buy an 8 wt. rod. Don
  3. What a coincidence. I, myself, have never floated or fished the Buffalo. I'm taking my kids and meeting friends at Tyler Bend Friday night until Sunday. It's my Fathers Day present. Canoes with shuttle are a little steep for all of us so we plan to rent inflatables and shuttle ourselves from short floats from camp. I'm not going to fish too seriously since I plan to spend time with children. I might fling a few flies around the camping area. Don
  4. I was down there as well. I saw your OAF sticker as I was leaving. After a few of us from Mo Trout Fishers Assoc. tied flies for patients at Hulston Cancer Center, Taney was calling my name. Hit the water at 6:00 PM and started nymphing a variety of scuds and midges. No strikes whatsoever below chute 2. I fished both clear and murky water as well as the seam. As I worked my way downstream, I noticed there was nobody from the rebar riffles to the end of the gauntlet. I caught 2 in the riffles with eggs bodacious about 6:30. The breeze kicked up so I couldn't sight fish any more. I then tried stripping a crackleback, no takers. I finally found what they wanted and brought 18 more bows to the net until I left at 8:00. All avg 13-14 inches or so. The bite was as hot as I've seen it this year. I swung a natural color bunny leech in the rebar hole. I hooked up on 80-90% of my strikes, a fair change from the normal 50% hookup that I usually experience while stripping. Don
  5. I saw that on your truck the other day. Can I assume it's custom made? If so, where did you get it? Thanks.....Don
  6. It could be called "Hunt for the Redneck Crustacean". Since Eddie Money performed at the crawdad festival in Harrison AR last month, the theme song would be "Baby Hold On" and would be played while viewing a series of bloopers footage. I wonder what his version of "You Get a Line and I'll Get a Pole...." sounded like? Don

    Camp Cobbler

It won't be long until you can pick fresh blackberries for one of these . Don
  8. Here's one for the big boys: http://www.americancastingassoc.org/events...l_schedule.html I was impressed with Terry's little Eagle Claw/Medalist combo. Since I had my hands on that one, I have aspirations to own one myself. I wonder how far the Rajeff brothers could cast that rig? Don
  9. Zach, What was the weight and length of the rod you used? Thanks.....Don

    Get together?

I'm not sure I'll make it. I'm busy with my daughters this weekend. If I go, it will be a last minute decision. Don
  11. Congratulations Steve, I had alot of fun meeting all of you at BDS last month. You're leaving things in good hands with Bryce. I always stop at Mountain River when I'm in Cotter. They are a great bunch of folks down there as well. I'll drop by and say hello the first weekend in July. Best Wishes.....Don
  12. Only 162 flies? You must have went to bed early last night. Heck, I'm happy if I can spin up a dozen during one evening at the bench. Don
  13. Great pics. Ahhhh..... Someday..... Thanks for sharing and have a great time. Don
  14. For those of you that do not get 'lectricity from a co-op, here's the link: http://www.ruralmissouri.org/07pages/07Jun...ofLifeFarm.html Don
  15. I've met Leonard a few times. He doesn't strike me as a kind of guy who would try to eat your house cat. Don
  16. I'm sure your loop looked good. Good thing nobody has a pic of my cast. I love the bow. I shoot about as well as I cast a flyrod. Each time I shoot, it humbles me to realize that I need to keep practicing. I plan to put it into real use this winter. Don
  17. I read it last night and really enjoyed it. Brian, that's a good picture of your cast. Don

    Get together?

Gillin' on the fly is a blast. I remember catching big gills and 1 lb bass on the pond with a flyrod over 30 years ago. This weekend, I plan to flyfish on a farm pond for the first time in about 30 years or so. Hope to be able to keep and clean a few of those tasty fillets. I plan to be camping at Stockton with my daughters 06/20-06/22. We'll try to catch a few from the bank while we are there. Also, I read in the OAF recipes section that some members preferred Andy's fish batter. I tried it for the first time a week or so ago and it was awesome. I've not ben able to find it in Springfield. I picked it up at Jubilee Foods in Branson. Don
  19. Normally, I would have posted this topic and link on Ozarkhunters forum. Since it is currently disabled, I thought I would share it here. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3220965 Don
  20. Does anybody know the status of ozarkhunters.com and ozarkssportstalk.com forums? I cannot access them any more. Tnanks.....Don
  21. Only in my dreams about big trout and mexican food at Abe's. If I had an extra vacation day or two and an extra dollar or two, I'd have already started packing. I will definitely go again someday. Please send us some fishing reports. Don
  22. Nice link, thanks Terry. I couldn't find hornyhead chub on the list. The women at work looked at the forum and laughed at me because of my fish handle. They want to know what really is a hornyhead chub. Don
  23. Congratulations to both families! Well, we know one will be a duckling. What do you call a baby mink? Don
  24. Oh, now you tell me. By the way Terry, since you had eighth grade cipherin' and know most of your gazintas you're probably alot better at understanding these kind of things that we weren't learnt out in Clever. What does (hybrid exponential balloon payment) mean? Thanks.....Don
  25. GF, I hate to admit it but about ten years ago, we indexed gas prices in accordance with inflation rates from the 1970's to date. At that time, gas prices had not kept up with inflation and were extremely reasonable from that perspective. That oil exec has a leg to stand on. However, do you think it's just a mere justification of price manipulation? Wait until corporate reports start indicating profits are lower than expected because of rising energy costs. Then one group of money people will be against another group of money people and changes will me made. I seem to think stock market drops were followed by gas price reductions not too long ago. Don
