If you like the quality, the price seems right. Here's a link: http://www.troutmagnet.com/phantom.html Don

I have several tents. Most of them are busted up some way or another. I camp about 15 times a year, usually several nights at a time. I've been searching many sites online for several months and have read many reviews. Any recommendations on both medium and large size tents under $200.00 ? Thanks.....Don

There are two main elements to your aspirations: content and marketing. Content : Quality of information communicated effectively to all readers that include almost ALL information pertaining to Missouri trout park fishing in an organized format. Marketability: An effective and efficiant means to distribute your literature to all individuals who might be even slightly concerned in tour topic. Both concepts solidly intact, don't leave yourself regrets by telling everybody years from now that "I've should have written a book." Good Luck.....Don

As for comments about Frogg Toggs and the Bass Pro outlet store. I go there way too much. Sometimes I have an itch and actually make a conscious decision not to go there because I'll always leave with something. Anyhow, I've been looking at bargain Frogg Toggs for a year or so there and they have only had the size of medium. While I was searching for Goretex bib overalls, I discovered a pair of X-large Frogg Toggs, my size, in camo color. Reg price over $90.00 jacket and pants both on sale for $45.00, so I grabbed them. I now see Toggs are on sale at the big store for $38.00 (not sure). Is that for the whole suit or for each piece? Speaking of Goretex bibs. I saw a guy buy a pair of Goretex bibs (either Winchester or Remington, not sure) for $75.00 last year. In the checkout aisle, he stated he didn;t really need them but he couldn't turn down such an offer. I would have got some too if I had the funds at the time. Last week, the only Goretex bibs they had were Redheads, reg $225.00 on sale for $110.00. I'm not a big friend of Redhead so I didn't move on them. I talk to a few shoppers there once in awhile and discuss products and prices. What I have found out is that we sportsmen are competing with EBay businessmen who use this place as their wholesaler on a daily basis. I guess timing is imperative. Don

Jimmy T, Since I was one of those who took advantage of your bargain, I wanted to let you know that I appreciate your thoughtfulness of the offer to OAF members. Thanks.....Don

A good friend of mine only applies dubbing with a dubbing loop. I don't always use one, especially on very small flies. Anyhow, he waxes his initial strand of thread with a stick of beeswax. I'll have to ask him where he got it. Don

This thread accompanied with my desire for early morels led me to my woods this evening. I've hunted my local spot half a dozen times and most I ever found was seven with help of my kids. It's definately not a great spot, but it is my back yard. I needed an excuse anyhow to explore the woods the first time since the ice storm. After an hour and a half, I only came up with three, 2-3 inches each. I found them all in Maypalms. Last year's tornado and this year's ice storm wiped out three of my deer stands. I needed to look at my big favorite. Scouted through there and it was all good. I stopped and counted my blessings. It was a well needed stress buster walk. I flushed up a covey of quail, about 15 birds. They weren't really fat birds, but it was good to see a few in the area for a change. I also found a top half skull with antlers of a 5 point buck. It made me wonder how he met his fate. Mushrooms are soaking in salt water for tomorrow night's appetizer. Later.....Don

"He's a walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction." Most all elements of your newest/latest offering hit home one way or another. Good read. Waiting for your next one.....Don

I'll bring a small portable grill instead of the egg (too heavy). I'll also bring brats. Don
-
Also, if and when you get your dubbing twisted on a single strand of thread, you might want to make a dubbing loop and twist it on. Dubbing will not fall off after then. Don

Frogg Toggs are on sale at Bass Pro. I bought a set of them earlier but haven't tried them yet. The jacket would not be considered an actual wading jacket. Don

Whooo! Doggy! Vittles is on! Someday I'm gonna have a long talk with that boy. Don

Porter, Your instructions worked. The only inconvenience is that the USB port on the camera is inside the battery/memory card cover. The USB cord will push in the memory card but not far enough and the camera would not power on. I then pressed the card with my finger and the camera would turn on. Thanks everybody....Don

I live in Christian county Mo and when I stepped outside shortly before dark, the whole atmosphere was filled with smoke. I was puzzled because I could not figure out the source. The news said it was from a large controlled burn in Arkansas and advised individuals to stay indoors because of poor air quality. Just wait Arkansas, I'm gonna set my brushpile on fire during the next north wind and give you a taste of your own medicine. Don

Michael, I bet those carp were a blast. What flies did you catch them on? Thanks.....Don

Birthday Greetings 03/24/2007
Don replied to Danoinark's topic in General Angling Discussion Archives
Hey Troutbum, Happy BDay. I won't wish that you got to go fishing for your birthday because I guess that it's already a given. If not, I'm sure you'll make it one way or another.. . Hope to catch you on my next trip out west, you old buzzard. Don -
Yeah Dano, I tried exactly what you said. Apparently I'm lacking somewhere. My teenage daughter could probably figure it out. This is really embarrasing from a man who has actually written a computer program through an IBM website during grad school . Thanks, Don Any response from you folks who have the camera?
-
Yeah Dano, For some ignorant reason, I thought I could palmer up the hook like I had hackle in my hand or something. Doh! (Homer Simpson style). Anyhoo, I closely fosued on each turn of the rabbit/squirrel and how the fur lsid dwn on each wrap. Looks easier than done for a novice like me. Good Luck...Don

Thanks JD, I've been to the link you sent me but I only get a blank page, same as last time. Looks like I might have to sally up and get a card reader after all. Thanks.....Don

I'm in the country, so I get good ole' slow phone line connection. Good thing for the rest of you or I would post alot more of my %$*&@. The service speed never changes here at home. Cable users got it good. Hey Rich, when you're ready to fish waters away from Bennett, give me a post. I had a good time fishing with you at Bennett last year. Don

I finally broke down and bought my first digital camera. After several months of researching in my price range, I chose the Pentax OptioW20 over the Olympus 720SW. My decision factor was based on $50 cost savings and slightly higher customer reviews. The problem is that I want to upload several pics to my computer to share on forums and via email. However, I should have received a PC connection manual when I ordered from Abe's of Maine. So, far, I've spent too many hours online trying to find the manual and have not received response from the vendor. Any advice on instructions or a link to the to the instructions would be immensely appreciated. Thanks......Don

Yes Leonard, The long so-talked-about whistle is the power I've been seeking to break this curse as well as drawing some of your night time pet trout to my new net. It's starting to get really scary. Itsvan Telesky would never describe the aforementioned in such detail unless he was really psychotic or he has seen me on Taney before. Just in case, the package will be under the willow tree by sunrise Monday. Don

Guys, When I go to the bench, I'm not one to tie a multitude of patterns I've just learned or feel I really need. My objective is creativity and out of the box stuff. That's how I came up with the Eggs Bodacious. For example, last night I tied a rabbit sculpin/leech pattern in all orange rabbit strips. I also tied an all orange wooly bugger, marabou, dubbing body, and hackle all in bright orange (white bass are also in mind). Dano, I experienced the same difficulties and ruined some rabbit because of the super glue. My fix to that problem; focus and try harder. The second effort turned out really good. Ronnie, I love the report about your girls. I have three daughters myself. They don't like to fish Roaring River because fish are "too hard to catch." They would rather play in the wading area and catch sculpins. One reason is that my oldest,14 year old Lisa, has made sevaral trips to Taney with me in the last two years and has done well. I can't wait to take her again. Way to go Ronnie. Don

By the way, Mathman won some fly line. Terry, please look into your crystal ball and tell me how I'll do on my next fishing trip . Don
