  1. I'm ready to try some whites and crappie on the fly. I hear the Little Sac can get pretty crowded when the whites start running. I'm curious about getting out the maps and putting a drift boat pontoon in the Son's Creek area during white and crappie time this spring. Anyone done that yet? Thanks.....Don May

    Shorty Smalls

The last time I dined out in Branson was Shorty Smalls a few months ago. The ribs seemed like they wer slow roasted in the oven instead of spending alot of time on a smoker. The one thing I cook the most here at home is smoked baby back ribs and spare ribs. I always dry rub and wrap them for 24 hours and slow smoke them on the green egg. I can't get enough of them. Absolutely no complaints about Shorty's ribs. They were fall-off-the-bone tender, the sauce was excellent, the sides were good, and the service was great. I've also eaten at Danna's. I reccommend them if you haven't had the chance to try them. Don May
  3. Thanks for the report and pics Duane. It looks like you guys had a blast. Don

    Tent

When I camped with Mike, he stood there with his hands on his hips and boldly exclaimed, "We don't need no stinking tent!" then he spit on the ground. I think he was fishing all night long Don

    Tent

It's a cheap $50 Walmart tent. It has integrated poles and sets up amazingly fast. The rainfly is the hardest part. However it's not a strong tent in very windy conditions. The kids were in the big tent or I would have used it instead. Don
  6. I was checking out generation graphs and noticed neither the White nor the Norfork have ran water since 02/26/08. Can I assume this contributes as to why Table Rock Dam has been constantly generating lately? Don
  7. Thanks for the tutorial. It's been many many years since i lived in Arkansas. I'm afraid that if I went back and spoke, they would think I'm from New York City. Don
  8. You and I may have duscussed Ozarkian dialects before. Just how is the Spring River at Mammoth Spring actually pronounced by several locals? Best wishes on the Project Healing Waters event this Tuesaday. Don May
  9. Happy Birthday Hoglaw, Post it on your profile so we can give you some grief next year. Don May
  10. Hey Leonard Skeonard, I hope your foot is feelin better Bud. I tied my PMS simpler with a blood quill plume tied straight down the shank as a tail (like a wooly bugger) and I used half as much flash, usually two different colors flash of whatever I felt like using at the time. I use pearl and red the most. I tied some with black flash on olive squirrel that I haven't tried yet. Some nights, straight up pine squirrel is the same as PMS. Other times I've seen a 2:1 difference with a PMS advantage. Thanks.....Don

    Tent

I hear ya man, My back has been buggered up since I was a kid. I just count my blessings in that I know many other have worse back problems than mine. These days I pump that air mattress as tight as it can get. I hope that 5th wheeler will come someday. Thanks...Don

I didn't realize that I had this pic until I reviewed some summer vacation photos in my digital cam. I guess it turned out good because it wasn't planned or staged. I'm not the best at taking pictures. I liked it so much that it's on my desktop on my home PC. Many thanks to Duckydoty for showing me how to reduce pixels on my camera so I can post them to the forum from my dial up connection. Don May
  13. Wow! That's alot of candles. I thought it was the Aurora Borealis. I hope you had a good one Tim. As usual, I always look forward to dropping by the shop every time at RR. Don May
  14. I'll be in a single pontoon drift boat because of stability and comfort. Don
  15. Great fish and avatar BMan. I'm glad it came from Taney. Don
  16. I agree Brian. Those things are so thin that you can stack them several deep in your large vest pockets. The magnetic bottom helps alot in the wind. I also use them for selective scuds as well as midges. For those who have too many flies to remember all their identifying names, they come with stick-on labels. Thanks for the reminder, I need to get another one soon. Don May
  17. Thanks Michael and Christina. It was an enjoyable event. I was glad I could make it and leave with a bag of goodies. It was good to visit and talk fish with fellow OAFers. Zach, thanks for the fly, I'll give you feedback some day. Randy, thanks for the help with the hooks I needed. Don May
  18. I also express gratitude to Jeremy's generous barrage of recipes. I plan to put them to good use. Don May

Happy Birthday you old buzzard! Have a great one. Don May
  20. Yep, he's a growin' boy. He's probably already outgrown his first possum skin cap. By the way, I love those fish curtains. Thanks for sharing the pics. Take care.....Don
  21. I really enjoyed the pics and report. Obviously you had a blast. Thanks....Don
  22. Fish at the pool above the falls were very spooky. The bottom of the pool at the falls held some nice fish that I worked on for some time. They were skittish. The pool below the zone 2 bridge is where my friend caught a nice one. Don May
  23. Thanks folks, I walked over two miles in the ice yesterday and fell five times. Somehow, I'm grateful for every step I took. What doesn't kill me only makes me stronger, even though I am a little long in the tooth. And Leonard, I'll speak for a few others as well as for myself, please remember. "I'm not as good as I was once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was." Toby Keith
  24. Good to hear it Rusty. I have to take my daughter to Kirkpatrick and Lai orthodontists in Miami tomorrow if I can get out of the darn driveway.
  25. I haven't been able to get out of my driveway the last 2 days. I even spread about 40 lbs of rock salt yesterday. Power flickered a half dozen times yesterday. I definately have spring fever. Don
