God Folks, I've just ordered a FishCat quad pontoon to hit warmwater floats for the first time. I met and visited with Ward Bean at the Convlave last fall and I think he would like that I share his website with you guys. I hope to try some of his smallie patterns. Don May www.warmwaterflytyer.com

I listen to one half classic rock to one half country music. All I know is that Toby Keith's horse is named Dr. Cool Beans.

Hey Phil, I just noticed your forum was ranked fourth in the top 100 fishing sites. Have we been there before? Don May

As W said before "Strategery" is important. I, for the first time voted for the person I thought could win the election instead of following my personal convictions. I voted McCain but I will definately support Huckabee if necessary. By the way, I''m what's known as a conservative independent. Polls show that Mcain would beat Hillary in General election. Polls also show that McCain would lose to Obama in general election. There are too many independents out there that would sway more to Obama than the Republican candidate. My personal strategy would have been to vote Hillary on Dems inn the primary and have a better chance for conservatives to take the general election. Don May

List Of Sale Items For Backcountry Outfitters Re-grand Opening
Don replied to Micheal Kyle's topic in Fishing Events
Now the time is coming when alot of good stuff is on sale and I'm flat broke. Oh, wait a minute, did you say you would take a check? Don May -
The big trout were skeered. I started at an upper pool where I picked up some lunkers several weeks ago. The large fish scattered across the pool when I walked within ten feet of them. I saw Leonard catch a few on what was probably the largest fly those trout had seen that day. Captain E, It was good to meet you and was as good to hear that you caught alot of fish. Scheetz, I missed seeing you but I hope to meet and knock out a few trout with you some day. I finally settled on an area that held about four twenty inchers. They did not seem as spooked as the earlier ones. I repeatedly drifted egg patterns to them and picked up a couple of stocker size fish that scavenged the egg away from the bigguns. Finally, a 20 inch fish took the egg and with two or three shakes of the head it came loose. I left and found my friend Kevin at the beginning of zone 2. I watched him tie up some foam post emergers that morning and seconds after I met him on the water he casted and landed a nice 19 in bow on that emerger. I threw an olive scud with no success. Several times the wind drifted my scud upstream. I then hit the wading area with intentions of throwing dries. I hat a few hits on some size 26 BWO midges and emergers. Then I tied on a large Amy's ant and quickly picked up 2. The third broke off the only one I had. Man o man, the wind made things tough now and then. I picked up a few more on black barred pine squirrels then called it a day. I only finished with eight fish but I was a satisfied fisherman on my last RR C&R season trip this season. Tie a very small double barrel swivel to the end of the mono. Use a large clear float with a rubberband inside that you twist to hold. Place the float above the small swivel. Put the foat on before you tie on the swivel. Drop a very small olive marabou jig, a bead head egg, or a small olive wooly worm with small split shot 1 foot above on a 6X or 7x flurocarbon tippet below the swivel. Fish the fly near the bottom. It worked well for my kids in the fly area a few years ago. Good Luck.....Don

Exclusive: Grand Jury To Investigate 'monster Pig' Kill
Don replied to Phil Lilley's topic in New News and General Discussion
Broodstock in a fenced 150 acre lot? Wild Boar? Has anyone read any stories about the pig roast that followed? Don May -
Two rednecks are out hunting, and as they're walking along they come upon a huge hole in the ground. They approach it and are amazed by the size of it. The first hunter says "Wow, that's some hole, I can't even see the bottom, I wonder how deep it is?" The second hunter says "I don't know, let's throw something down and listen and see how long it takes to hit bottom." The first hunter says "There's this old transmission here, give me a hand and we'll throw it in and see." So they pick it up and carry it over, and count one, and two and three, and throw it in the hole. They are standing there listening and looking over the edge and they hear a rustling in the brush behind them. As they turn around they see a goat come crashing through the brush, run up to the hole with no hesitation, and jump in head first. While they are standing there looking at each other, looking in the hole, and trying to figure out what that was all about, an old farmer walks up. "Say there," says the farmer, "you fellers didn't happen to see my goat around here anywhere, did you?" The first hunter says "Funny you should ask, but we were just standing here a minute ago and a goat came running out of the bushes doin' about a hunert miles an hour and jumped headfirst into this hole here!" And the old farmer said "Why that's impossible, I had him chained to a transmission! "

You know what you said and you know what I mean. I'm sure you are a good man and I'd throw a flyrod/spin rig with you if we could see face to face and slam some trouts. I think things would clarify itself in a fishing situation with a good man as yourself. PM if needed. Don May

Blow yourself? Hey man, I'm calling you out Trav. Opinionated is one thing but don't push the envelope too far here. Minors are welcome and they read the forum too. Minors or not, drop the vulgarity or I will request that you have finished your time here on this forum. Don May

I've spoken to alot of football fans and most seem unexcited about the game because the teams involved are not on the top of their favorites list. However, I think it is a game that should not be missed. One will either witness the history of the Patriots going undefeated all season and winning 19 games as never done before. On the other hand, one will witness a team thst set a record for most wins in a single season only to be toppled at the last game by the underdog Giants that do not lose on the road. Regardless, it's a win win situation. I hope the game is as close as the last time they met. Don

Hey wait a minute! No fair! There's way too much discussion about good/best fisherman here. What about us amateurs? I feel left out. As a matter of fact, there have been many days on the water that I can claim the fame as the worst fisherman and I have no pics to prove it. For some reason I keep on going fishing . The last time I went, I only caught 10 fish in over 4 hours and missed tons of strikes. It had to be my worst strike to catch ratio I have ever experienced . Man, it was still a great day to be out on the water. Well, chores are all done and the weather looks good. Time to start packing and head to Taney. Don May

Waders and boots with spare backups go into a large rubbermaid plastic tote. Flies etc. are in heavily weighted down vest like Greg's. I hope neither of us ever fall in or we'll drown. I also always carry spare clothing in a small canvas bag. Don May

The G-Bug is also in my top ten. Others include gray or tan scud, tan zebra midge with copper bead and copper wire, ugly midge, dirty olive mohair leech, eggs bodacious, natual rabbit leech, and olive pine squirrel. Don May

Lord I have loved some ladies and I have loved Jim Beam and they both tried to kill me in 1973. Hank Williams Jr. Some of us will never learn I know someone who has this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/JIM-BEAM-RENOS-HAROLDS...1QQcmdZViewItem Oh by the way, guess who bought the decanter from the link Dano found? It will look good on my fly bench if I put some Crown Royal in it. Not as much said about how the flies I tie will look the next day. Don

My favorite gloves are the ones that have mittens that drape over the fingers and a little pouch that holds a chemical hot hands pad in the finger section of the mitten. I like those best when duck hunting in extremely cold weather. When it comes to flyfishing, I can't stand to wear gloves. I feel a need for bare hanbds on the rod, reel, and line. At times like those, I try to keep some hot hands packets in pockets that I can slip my hands in every now and then to warm back up. Don May

I was glad to drop in the new shop for the first time. I really liked the familiar layout. By the way, those replicas of the Alaska trout were downright awesome. Randy was extremely helpful and knowledgable about types of rods and casting. I look forward to your grand opening. Don May

Romo was fine until Jessica Simpson came along. Look at the time line. I've been mostly impartial to who wins. However, I have respect for Favre so I guess GB is a sentimental favorite. Don May

Yeah, You've been quiet for awhile. Did you get your office decorated in fly garb yet? Let me know when you're ready to hit the water. Don May

Congratulations on your new duckling. Glad to hear the good news. Don May
