  1. All the items have sold. Special thanks to all the OAF brothers that purchased items. PC
  2. Chrome/black or chrome/blue Rat-L-Trap or Spot when the fish are busting. Rooster tails and fuzzy grub jigs when spinning in creeks and rivers. Clousers when fly fishing. PC
  3. Sorry guys .... the weather was absolute crap up here in Kansas City. Freezing rain, ice, and snow. Andy and I thought it was best to cancel. PC
  4. Jah .... right on. I think you were on the right track. In conditions like that .... downsize your presentation. Use a longer and lighter leader. Use smaller flies. Sounded like the perfect time to swing soft hackles. Maybe strip a small crackleback. Also you could try drifting under a small indicator caddis pupa, small scud, and small midge patterns like RS2s, WDs, tiny PTs, JuJus, micro eggs, or dropper combos. PC
  5. Still got the Lamson Litespeed. All the other items have sold. Thanks PC
  6. Chief ... Sounds good to me ... we'll see ya there. PC
  7. Rich ... I've been thinking about heading down to walk the park and to take some pictures of the insanity and humanity. PC
  8. Chief .... Andy and I are planning on being down there at around 8:00 AM .... weather permitting. We'll be in a Maroon Chevy Colorado Z71 .... Miami County, KS plates. PC
  9. Hey Chief .... Andy and I are coming down on Sunday to give it a go. Thanks for the report. PC
  10. The Bass Pro 100 mph is very good gear. Also, the Grunden's foul weather gear is great, very durable, and less expensive. PC
  11. We heated up some Opeilio crab legs (fresh from Deadliest Catch fleet and on sale at the local market ) and the wife made some shrimp Clemenceau to go along with it. The kids came over and we had a feast. I got totally stuffed .... It was hard to breathe for awhile ). I ended up dozing off while the Daytona 500 was on. PC
  12. Right on Wayne. Always close the bail manually. That's the best method to eliminate those loops. Fellow anglers used to look at me like I was crazy (those that didn't know me ... those that did knew I really am) .... anyway ... it becomes second nature ... you cast ... and your off hand closes the bail. PC
  13. I'm offended .... or maybe that's offensive. Lighted Christmas beavers .... Huh . Man that's some scary stuff.
  14. I heard TP, Tidy Bowl, and standard nymphs. PC
  15. The Niangua is a fairly easy wade both upstream and downstream from the 64 access. There's plenty enough water there to consume a whole day. Check out these links for real time stream data. These will give you an indication of the water conditions. Bennett Windyville The water is up a little right now and moving pretty good but OK to wade. Keep an eye on the data if there's significant precipitation this weekend. PC
  16. I've stayed in the Estes Park area and fished in the east part of the park and the Big Thompson canyon many times. September is a great time to go. Fewer crowds and lower (more stable) water. Smaller dries, nymphs, and midge patterns work well. That time of year a hopper/dropper can be good also. In the park you can catch brookies, rainbows, cutts, and browns. If you're on the other side of the park or staying anywhere near Dillon or just looking for some potentially larger fish .... Scott C. is right on re: the Blue River in Silverthorne. It's kind of weird fishing at the outlet malls but there's some nice fish in there below the Dillon Dam ... the Blue fishes well outside of town also. The Colorado River and Williams Fork both near Parshall are great choices also. A fellow OAF angler turned me on to those streams. Small midge patterns (RS-2s, JuJus .... etc.) and small nymphs (PTs) were the ticket for me. PC
  17. I'm with CF ... he was my favorite on the show also. My thoughts exactly Chief. PC
  18. Come on guys .... Who wouldn't want to be a part of this? PC or this
  19. Can I send you our bad weather too? I'm in Kansas City. I'd be happy to head to MO for some fishing ... I swear I'll post some fishing reports. PC

  23. Jah ... good for you man. You got out and got some action at a beautiful place. Pretty cool. Anyway, I'll try to help you out re: your questions: 1. On the Current I like to use an olive wooly bugger or an olive mohair leech. I prefer to cast quartering upstream with one mend. Dead drift on a tight line until you get the big bow (drag) in your line. Feel and watch for anything "different" during the drift as this is an indication of a take. Then erratically strip or skip a few times ... then let your fly swing in the current below you. Strip a few times ... pause .... strip a few times ... pause .... repeat until you get enough line in to recast. There will be no doubt when you get a taker ... a majority of the takes will happen during the pause. This technique will also work well with cracklebacks, woolies, and SHs. I like to use weighted bugger and leech patterns some with BHs .... some without. I try not to use split shot because I feel it impairs the action of the fly ... but sometimes when the water's up .... you have no choice. If you use a split shot ... position it at least 18" away from the fly. 2. Sounds like your casting. Try bringing your rod only to the 12 o'clock position on your backcast (instead of the 2 o'clock position). This should help straighten out the presentation. Anyway, this is how I do it. I'm sure others on this board have other techniques. I hope this helps. PC
  24. I like the RIO versileaders (sinking leaders). They've got varying sink rates and lengths. It's a cheaper way to go without shelling out the bucks for tips and sinking lines. PC
  25. KCRR ... thanks again. Sure ... I'm in. Let me know. PC
