  1. Well, Here it is! A 36 inch long Taney Lunker! What a fight, it took a Sculpin on 4X tippet. I nearly threw my back out for this pic. I couldn't believe the weight and strength of this fish. No the fish didn't fit in the net! only it's head...barely! Anyone up for some "Hillbilly Hand Grabbing" at Taney?
  2. Oh yes, the details. Both fish were caught on a 9' 5wt Winston. Full floating line, 5X tippet, and a size 16 tan scud. The 'Bow refused my first drift, so I made some adjustments to my rig, (Tippet length and split shot) second drift he took the scud!
  3. My best fishing buddy, my son Matt was only able to join me for a few days this year regretfully. Matt didn’t let that slow him down. Matt released this beautiful 25 ½ “ Brown! I released this huge Male Rainbow. He measured 29” long with a 20.5” girth. Now for the rest of the story. The previous day I believe I had this same fish on for a few moments. When hooked the huge 'Bow bolted out of the starting gate FAST! The fly came loose, and he was out of there. After this I hooked his girl friend that he was courting! She looked to be an easy 30" I'm thinking a possible new state record! Again a long distance release as the fly popped out! I couldn't keep a fish hooked up that day! Thanks to Chuck Griess of Anglers and Archery, as he was guiding me this day.
  4. That must have been the fish I saw down stream floating belly up. Very sad, I see so much abuse of fish. Disgusting.
  5. Sounds like fun! PM sent
  6. Jet boat times! Right Gator?
  7. That's a dandy! Congrats!
  8. Hey Al, I have seen some of your posts for your various canoe setups. I have searched for your posts, but I am unable to find them. Could you send a link or two? A friend of mine mentioned to me that he was wanting to get two kayaks for him and his son to float & fish our local waters. I would be more inclined to suggest your canoe set ups. Alas, I don't know where to get them, or what to get.
  9. Nice catch on the long rod, my arm would have been fried after one like that. Hmmm methinks a good way to condition my arm for the Fall Brown run at Taney!
  10. Eric & Wayne, Thank you both, very much! I will pass your advise along.
  11. Can the members of this site help me to advise which single man kayak would be good for him and his son? They want to float and fish C&R on the Meramac River. He doesn’t want to spend too much. Any advice will greatly appreciated Personally I would use a single man canoe set up just like Mr. Al Agnew has described in text and photos, in his well written posts. I used to have these posts saved on my computer, because of a need to remove a nasty virus from my machine; I lost those posts, and haven’t been able to find them.
  12. An Explanation for Big K, we are jet boat guyz. Don't follow us, you won't make it.
  13. Yummy Trout treats! Cool post, thanks.
  14. Amen Hang in. Thoughts and prayers.
  15. Happy Birthday Roland! You're an inspiration to us all.
  16. The new state record Brown was caught on power bait...
  17. I run a jet boat. I mostly fish the upper end, from the Dam to Short Creek. IMO when fishing the restricted zone, a jet is the only way to go.
  18. Thanks for the post. It's not bragging, just stating fact.
  19. Awesome! Ok,I've gotta get up there! Bears or no Bears.
  20. By watching the fly/s, or the fish’s behavior.
  21. I use an indicator, but not necessarily to detect a strike. I use an indicator to get a good drift.
  22. Same here, both.
  23. I said tempted. jjtroutbum, on 14 February 2011 - 12:54 AM, said: "I will admit getting all upset and going off many years ago about crowding and general rudeness. Now I just try not too allow someones behavior that I have absolutely no control over to dictate how my day is going to be. By getting myself in a terrible frame of mind." As I said earlier, this is the attitude I try to practice.
  24. You are welcome, I hope it helps.
  25. This topic brings to mind stories of the old Taney “chute” fishermen. If a newbie to the chute got out of sync and threw a cast across their line, they would smile, untangle the lines/flies and keep on fishing. The second time you would get your flies cut off, and handed back to you. The third time, you got your fly LINE cut off and handed to ya. Any of you Taney old timers ever heard about this? I’ve been tempted to pull the cut the line routine on a few that have waded out into my drift, and put me right in their back cast to the point where I’m dodging and ducking their hooks. One such time I put my hand up to protect my face and took a streamer hook in my hand past the barb.
