  1. " I’ve always been too chicken to use the 8x" Get a nice little 3 wt and have some fun with 7x-9x !!! Don't do like I did one fall. Take it out at Taney during the fall Brown Run, stick a 30" Brown and watch him smoke ya!!!
  2. You need to know if you have to be Coast Guard approved to guide by boat with motor.
  3. DT Do you use fluorocarbon tippet? if not try it. When fishing subsurface it is better, sinks better and is harder for the fish to see. Instead of #18 flies, try #20 & #22 scuds and midges/nymphs, try one of those as a dropper just below a dry fly. You get twice the chance, either the dry or the dry is your stike indicator for the midge. As far as fish chasing each other, that is male pre-spawn behaivior, I have seen 'em going in circles already. The fall spawn is starting at the parks. If ya wanna have a bunch of fun, wait till 2nd week of Oct, go to Bennett zone 1 with a small egg fly, thats all you will need for bunches of chinass trout!
  4. D T, Good report ,thanks for sharing.
  5. Good one! SO TRUE!!!
  6. Bumer. Love that low clear water, it concentrates the fish, and makes jet boating more fun.
  7. I'm for that
  8. I'm NOT an expert on outboards. My jet boat dealer has told me that if you use the motor every month during the winter, don't worry about winterizing. I have found this to be true with my Yammie 2 stroke jet.
  9. Hey Trav, Look closer, I know whats happened to the Browns. You have put your mark on all of them...they can't get up stream. Yup forget the Brown run this year. My apologies to Mr Rick Spegal, from Bowling Green, Missouri, who caught this awesome Brown in advance...my sort of humor
  10. Thanks for the post Trav, A great read. Keep us posted on that pig. I know you will be back.
  11. Get in touch with Chuck Gries of Anglers & Archery in Branson. He and his son Adam bow hunt razorbacks in Ark. They might know something. http://www.anglersandarchery.com/
  12. Way to go! Take pictures of the violators. Take pics of their cars & license plates, call the law. Make 'em sweat. Post the pics online. I do.

    Oaf Elections!

A write in, in my opinion is a waste. Just like a vote for the guy you don't want to win.
  14. bikehikefish gave good advise, all you will see are trout, bass, and suckers. If you want cats come on downstream. I live and boat near the Rt 66 state park, near where the Big River enters the Meramac River. You will catch cats there. I've heard of good cats up near Meramac Caverns too.
  15. And that folks, is just about it. And don't forget DA MIDGE !
  16. If you have trouble with signal strength, you can purchase a directional antenna and amplifier= about $300 bucks Check out http://www.unwiredsignal.com/ They can help with cell phone signal at your home or car also. The wireless services I mentioned are for unlimited serv. Some of the satelite services are limited on downloads.
  17. AT&T and Verison have wireless aircards that work with a high speed usb port as found on newer computers. The service is $59.00 per month. They connect to the new high speed 3G networks. If you are near major highways or cities, you can probably connect. Check the websites for coverage maps. I use the AT&T wireless usb aircard and love the high speed connection. I just speed tested and the results are, 1711 K download, and a 362 K upload.
  18. Larry's Tackle just inside the park. You might already know him. Ed & Kay ran Springview Tackle Shop when it was at the spring hole. Charlie Reading who now has his own shop, lived in a back room at Springview. I understand the State made them move, so they relocated just outside the park under the same name. Now it's Springview motel. Now Ed & Kay work at Larrys.
  19. CC, Stop by Larry's and ask for Ed Ellersick. Ed used to guide years ago and has been down there in the fishing biz a LONG time. Tell him Bruce reffered ya.
  20. Legally speaking if you guide by motorized boat, you need to be Coast Guard approved.
  21. JJ I love my ulstrasharp Dell widescreen flat panel 24". In the mall kosiks they say the mac folks most always get them as well.

    Scam

Got the wallets, now where's that Home Depot???
  23. Dittos, I also met Ed at his shop when he was on Lindberg near Northwest Plaza. He taught me the crackleback. He always had time and a smile, I never had much money to spend back then. It didn't matter to Ed. He was always such a great guy. This saddens my heart. Prayers to his family. We will miss you Ed. Bruce
  24. There are times normally in the afternoon to evening when the bug activity increases those fish will go ater flys more than anything else. The fish have seen so much bait and normal trout park tackle...they wise up. But if you watch them closely they are munching on bugs, first subsurface, then to the top. Don't be afraid to use 7X-8X floro. And hook sizes #18 - #22. A lot of #20 & #22 WD40's. You just have to watch your backcast because there are families walking around, its vaca time.
  25. Thanks all. Those pics don't do justice to the average size of the fish in the springs now, like Seth mentioned. I should be posting another report soon. I will be going sometime in the next few days.
