Hey Trav, That's not flooding, the "big guy in the sky" (ya, I know you don't) just knows that with the chemo and stuff,I can't go fishing right now so he's bringing the fish up to my deck so I can still give it a go! Saw this mess this afternoon, half the parking lot/ramp is covered. Much higher and our Mayor is gonna get his shorts wet! Take care & have a good one. So far the chemo is going smooth so I'm hoping to get back on the lake real soon.

If you are interested in getting some of the Hydrilla cleaned out of lower Taney, GET IN TOUDH WITH THE MAYOR OF ROCKAWAY BEACH, MR. LARRY CLINE. The city is currently working with several depts. to find the best solution and do some clean-up in the lake. The more on-board for this program, the better the agencies will listen and provide funding and equipments.

Hey Trav, I don't lately! I've not been on for about a month. Was fighting a major P-MONIA with brnchitis. since Jan 1. Was in the Hospital for about 2 wks where they pulled a lot of fluid off the old ticker. Just now getting back to being able to catch some sleep as the coughing is very much less & lungs getting stronger. They better darn well hurry, Spring is about ready to Sprung again. Hope you and the guys on here have been doing well and keeping tabs on Phil and Leonard. Sometimes I think they may have a special way of pulling a Bows tail and stretch it a bit....LOL. Keep um on their toes!

Here is a copy from the KY3 news on-line site: ...................... BRANSON, Mo. -- City police say two men were attempting to bring a boat out of Lake Taneycomo around 5:20 p.m. Saturday. Their van and trailer slipped into the water. One man was able to get out of the sinking van and get to safety. He told police he last saw his friend treading water by the van. Cold temperatures brought the search to an end on Saturday night. A search will resume Sunday. Both men are from the Iowa area.

Very possible! This time of year, if you carry a 5qt. pail of cement mix, in your vehicle, it will do amazing things to ice. Only takes a very light dusting on the surface (handful for a 10'track). it will almost make it like dry concrete. Next best is ash from fireplace. These stay on top and do not loose their grip like kitty-litter, salt etc. Best emerg. treatment I've found! Not hard on home drives like salt & cloride chems. either.

I was listening to the scanner when the report came in. Said there were 2 in the water. After the 1st on the scene, it said that 1 was on shore, cold, wet & not well. One was still in the Van and the Van was starting to drift deeper. 1st was #1&3 fire responded, Later, Western fire (diver team) was called in. The Lake patrol arrived about 30-45 min later from tablerock. Of course "hind-site" is always 20/20 and Monday morning Quarterback is always easier but: I would think that there would be a Boat, on call 24/7, within 10-15 min of the areas. Training of all depts. who respond. A KIT containing Throwable flotation w/rope, 6,000# tow strap 50' long w/hooks in all emerg. vehicles who respond. Not that often that a tragedy like this happens so most of the equip would, hopefully never be used. The "cost vs. need factor. Just would hate to have to stand on shore & watch an occupied vehicle slowly float away. I wasn't there, could be I would have had to do just that with the rest of them. Just some thoughts & ideas that came to mind!

Yet Another Question
Daddy Carp replied to carolina-rig-01's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Problem is oven not at stable temp. It will swing +/- 40-60* during preheat. (All ovens will except for the new $3,ooo Dacor). At 350*, it will take your oven about 3o min. to be at stable temp. Ya, I know about the bell or buzzer! Forget it! If you cook frozen pizza, and you go by the oven "preheated alarm" you cook them til the cheese is melted, when you bite into them, the center is still frozen. Problem: the oven "air" has reached 350* but the metal is still only 200* Hence, when you open the door the room air comes in and the temp drops then the burner is back on full putting max heat on the surface of the object cooking. stay with your 300-350* but give the oven 30-40 min to be at that temp. -
TRAV, I have delt with these guys several times on props. They are about the best going. They worked with me on getting the right prop for a 50 merc. and will take back if not damaged. They are : Midwest Propellar in Olathe, Ks. their email address is: bob@midwestpropeller.com Their web site is: www.midwestpropeller.com/Contact.html These guys were very helpful and avg. priced. There is a prop shop in Ozark, Mo. called "Hot Props" also. John is the guys name. I don't know about take-backs with him, but he is good. He does a lot for rnbwhvn. & duck harbor. If you can get the pitch numper stamped on your prop, you are half way home! If you open the throttle fast, and the motor revs high but the boat is slow to plane.......increase the pitch 1 number & try. If the boat is to slow to plane or won't, decrease the pitch (14p to 13p etc.) Rule of thumb is for every 1 degree of pitch change, it will increase or decrease motor top-RPM by 300-400 rpms. If you only need a little more speed, You can have youre prop "cupped" which will increase the pitch effect 1/2 a degree. Am I clear as Truman Lake? Any questions, PM me.

Hey Phil, I met & talked with Jackson C. down at Rockaway's dock this fall. If that is who you refer to, He is a real nice guy. We had a good time fishing with him that day.

Just glancing at the chart, It looks like if you are standing Thigh deep at the 20cfs generation and it goes to 2600cfs, you are going to get your smokes wet! I am seeing about a 3'rise in "tailwater" level.

I have eaten smoked carp & buffalo and found it as good as smoked salmon. The best way is to inject a large fish with either Ham or Bacon cure seasoning, smoke slowly over apple or cherrywood until the meat falls away from the bone upon touch. As far as scoring and fileting, an indian friend of mine was talking to some commercial fishermen on the Missouri River about de-boning the carp. They told him to filet and score the filets, mix a solution of 50/50 white vinegar and water in a 5 gal. bucket and soak the filets for 24 hrs., then rinse them good and cook like any other bonless filet. He tried this and could not find any bones as the vinegar had broken down the bone tissue completely. I've not tried it yet, but will in time. That sounds like a normal vinegar action, it will break down the muscle in beef to really make it tender,,,,why not fish?

OK Trav, Better get um now with the razzin about their catch & release dead or dying fish! Won't be that way much longer. Here is the title piece from a news article, it won't be long before they catch, fix & release! SEE BELOW: Researchers seeking new treatments for heart disease managed to grow a rat heart in the lab and start it beating. (New pumpers on the way) LMAO

As a kid, I would catch a lot of carp & buffalo. Many fishermen in Missouri (mostly central and southern) on the bigger lakes would laugh and ask why I wanted to catch a scavenger-fish (sometimes while they stood with a catfish on their stringer)? LOL Guess it was because of the terrific fight-per-pound that they gave. Most other areas of the US, I think they are a normal catch. Shoot, I even see BASS pros now in the redfish competitions!

--------------------------------------------------------------------- Now Trav, You can't just go out and randemly start removing humans! Only take the ones who POOP! This will leave a few for awhile......just look at a few who must not POOP. They can't and still be so full of it! LMAOROF

Yep! Probably would have done the same Trav. Me and "ole slim" just don't get along. I'm too slow to identify poisonous/non-poisonous so as a precaution, I kill it if it's in reach or near the house. Farther than that, it's safe (for now). My daughter say's that's bad cause they kill rodents.....and I remind her if I run out, I'll buy more DECON! Decon won't kill me or make me limp for 6 weeks. LOL

WOW! It is 3:30p on 1-8-08 and I just looked out the window and was totally surprised. I looked out over Taneycomo and it was gone! I think that while I was napping, somebody brought Truman lake or one of those out of Kansas and traded. I don't think I saw water this brown even on a Kansas lake. Nope, has to be Truman. Would one of you Clinton/Warsaw boys come get your "mudhole" and give us back our nice clear Taneycomo?
-
Well Trav, That's OK, just forget me, and leave my name off that list! Must have just been an oversite in rushing around. LOL LOL Well, got to go for now, Tell Tippet 07 I had to go catch my PIGS!! They were FLYING AWAY! He'll probably beleive you, so maybe better not. LOL LMAO

. Shoot, Darn, Don't stop them, get them another bottle. If they go on sporting trips and booze it up, what better place? They will only drown theirself when they fall. Lets weed them out before next deer season! with a 5 shot clip, they can take severl inosents with them! Lets help them keep their stupidity singular.

Hey! Come on trav quit giving the "tourneys" a bad time. I told you I would tie that old '61 Fastwin rig behind old 35merc/jon and get you up stream in time to get weighed in. NOOO, you said it would be too embarrassing for the winner to arrive in that "style". Remember, I already took your big fish up there for you, and you got your "little george" back. You really should have went. May be next time, shoot, I'll even loan you my old 1926 Martin auto. on a bamboo "limber whippin stick" with some of that .00005 lb hair they put on them for leaders! ROF LMAO condesending! YOU???? Never!

Here is an article I came across on the MDC site. You may have seen it: . Twin Pines Conservation Nature Center open, many events already on calendar The new facility brings nature-centered crafts, games and outdoor activities to the heart of the Ozarks. WINONA, Mo.-Southeast Missouri residents have a new educational and recreational resource in their back yard. Visitors to the heart of the Ozarks also might want to visit the newly opened Twin Pines Conservation Education Center (CEC) for a glimpse into the region’s natural and cultural history. . It looks like they are trying to make a very good "hands-on" program aimed at students and educators as well as the gen. public. It appears that they focus on wildlife, birds and alot on the forest and the history on the Ozark Forest Lands. Interesting read if you have the time>

This was in the web news "hometown daily news" Since it is local, I figured some may be interested in reading the article. FYI: Pollution Suit Filed in Stone County 1/6/2008 by Greg Brock Missouri's Attorney General has filed a lawsuit to stop ongoing pollution problems from a motel near Lampe.
