  1. looking out off my deck at the wareagle arm ....ice covered all the way across the same thing on the upper white and muddy water
  2. we made a run ,marble to marshall ford, great water levels made for a fast trip saw a pair of eagles and a lost goose.... yes it was cold! snowed on us at the put in... something about snow covering the bottom of the boat made this trip differant foe-sure!
  3. the upper end of beaver (white river ) is up back to a high level after being so low all year and tons of floating dead wood all over this end ... but at hwy 45 bridge the lake is backing-up in the old river with good color I have seen a large group of BIG trees floating as an island near the blue springs ramp... and in the war eagle arm the water is still real muddy with a lot of floating wood....... boaters beware! hope this help someone..
  4. nope!> i had it already to slid into the paintbooth and the cabinet shop i work with got swamped with work, and that pays the bills.... so it's out side full of snow and ice waiting the fresh coat to the inside! and i'm just waiting for floor space
  5. the trip was a goodie!..we had 9 paddlers show up, and 4 of us river camped, about a mile and a half befor the bakers ford take-out. weather was great for january, although we did get some rain during the night,( a dark thought glooming in my mind as i try to sleep! of floating away in my tent.) this section of river has some long deep pools with fast moving current i would rate this as a easy class 1 +... the only diffaculty was some wave trains and a few standing waves, the water level was on the high side for fishing, but made for some great floating, not sure of the water temps ,but is was cold ! saw two eagles and a big beaver that did a tail slap as i commanded him to! for the group! as we drifted by! everyone thought that was pretty funny! i asked the beaver in a loud voice if he was enjoying this great day! and that he could reply... with one splash means yes! and about that time he slap his tail and was gone!
  6. anyone want to go ? floating from woolum to just befor bakers ford and river camping ..then floating on to grinders this sat and sun... some are just floating sat, and they will be taking out at bakers ford.... so it's a one ,or two day trip! water levels are on the highside, and should be a good float all are welcome to go!
  7. HO HO HO MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you.
  8. a small group are going to float kings river newyears day to see the eagles. looking like they will put in at grandview and float to stonypoint about a 7 mile float if anyone wants to join in feel free to post and i will fill you in

well my outting turned out being 3 of us. on friday night i was the only camper that showed-up ,it was kinda spooky being the ONLY ONE AT TYLER BEND CAAMP GROUND!!! outher than 8 deer and 3 skunks, but the water was still on, and the showers had lots of hot water .. so saturday morning we headed out to gilbert take out , witch was covered with sand, so much that we didn't use it looked like a good place to get stuck from the track of the others that had gotten stuck..so we made (grinders ferry ) hwy 65 bridge our takeout i loaded up the boats in my van and we headed off to bakers ford. the morning was darkclouds and windy (gusts to 30 mph) it would blow you across the water sideways!!we had a new paddler with us so we took extra care and took our time . we had all day. well with the wind at our back for most of this trip pushing down stream, and a really good current flow, making our float about... oh about 3 hours long !!i helped the ladies load there boats and they took off for home. and gave me plenty of time to figure out what campgroung i wanted to stay at.ended up at south maumee i walked down to the river made three cast and hooked a nice fat smallie about 14 inces long two more cast bang, another fatty not as long, so i parked my van and set up camp for the night ,again being the only one at this campground.around 5 it started to get dark so i fired-up the old coleman lantern and made a big fire to cook my hotdogs on. about a hour later the lights start to dim (my coleman was out of fuel!!) and buddy when your lights go off out in the woods ! it's dark..... then all the things that go bump in the night! came out!! i had lions, tigers, and bears oh my!! all around me !! you could hear an owl, way off hooting, so i started hooting back! he'd call.. i'd call (that was a big mistake ) i got to listen to him all night. he hung out in a tree really close .anyway the big rain they had a week or so ago , washed all and ,i mean all, of the gravel bars clean ,and wads of leaves in the trees and logs up 15 feet in the tops of trees dangling. the river bank striped clean down to bedrock, some places all the bank was gone and the newbedrock showing. banks of mud falling off, and sand piled up in the river bends 5 and 6 feet deep, made me sad, the river that looked so good a few weekends ago,and now is all new looking. sunday i paddled up stream to maumee north and fished hard, only catching 5 or 6 fish the wind in my face and fighting it all day . i packed up around 2;30 and drove to spring creek made a few cast with no takers ,another short drive to buffalopoint and met some boaters putting in. made some casts and hooked a few baby smallies then drove to rush walked the bank casting with no takers and headed home. put on some miles but i'd do it all again ,all except for calling that owl!!

  14. too many cash tournaments!! that keep the lips tight!! tues and thurs are the fishing clubs and fri and sat are the jackpots.. the ones that are on the fish won't tell you anything , so it doesn't look good ...funny that the money keeps it on the hush hush, but i know a few that watch these post very closely and should thankyou all for honestly posting good information
  15. i got a pair of fit overs and they work pretty good i also found some that clip on to the bill of your hat and you just flip them up or down that i use at work

  19. THE WATER IS BROWN! AND WOOD IS FLOATING
  20. i float this river alot, but the rules are you must buy an arm band to float. (oklahoma) you can get them at the ranger station right on the hwy the cost is $ 1.00 the fishing is better in the lower section..... just befor the turnpike take old hwy 412 or 68 to hwy 10 in little kansas go south the outfitters are all up and down the road .the upper parts in arkansas are the areas that the CHICKEN FARMERS HAVE FIXED... WITH THE ARK AND OK LAW SUITES.... WITH CHICKEN LITTER RUN-OFF (NO FISH) AND DON'T PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE WATER!!

jim, it's you and wayne and ham and glen that did it too me! from that first river trip!! then the trip with al took it to the next level. it wasn't just fishin' anymore . and this season i have logged close to 100 miles of that river and every times it's something new! from high water to draging the bottom and only a few times have i seen any fishermen. the buffalo can be great! and on the other hand ,it can darn right nasty.. when you make the turn off that hwy , or MR. SHUTTLE drops you off you need to have made a few checklist's and the first time you don't..... well , lets just say cold ,and wet all day, and night will test the best of us. so, i guess i need to get my guide license! and taking folks with hey? anybody need a river fishing guide?? >>>>> and nope! I left her alone..

well it's all good!! first to see the ELK come now! no kidding...to the boxley valley for a day trip you can see them early in the morning. but it has been the evining that they all come out! and bring your camera (you can't miss them. it's were all the cars line-up both side of the road) #1..lost valley and steel creek has the best of the tall bluffs, then kyles landing/and orrs boyscout camp( but it's steep down in there (smoke your breaks steep)these are mostly the whitewater-ers even to eurbie,.but they have all the good hikings (because i see the trail signs) and the backpakers along the river .this is what they call the upper section then from pruit and hasty there isn't any.it's day use only . then carver it's nice but small, roadside park like, but tyler bend is the buffalo's finest hands down! paved all the way! hot and cold running water showers
  23. unless that wind lays down i think you might do better up river from the 412 bridge around the second bend in the river at the big bluff, and sneek up stream, this cold front might also help/hurt your outting? good to see that you did get your line yanked!!

well this trip was a good one, 70 degrees and sunny in the end of november!! man , is doesn't get any better! we fished the first day eurbie to ozark... 22 minutes in the water and bam!!! my very first 18 inch fish!! followed by two more. back to back casts!!! i thought 'o boy what a day starting off like that!>>>>>... i should have kept my thoughts to myself ! 3 more mile and NOTHING!! we paddled to another deep (blue- green pool)you couldn't see the bottom in and bam! we started to catch them left and right! we sat on that spot for around three hours ,not one of the fish we caught was small at all. most of them in the 15 to 17 inch range and fat!! but i never saw any minnows or a crawfish all day long well as a mater of fact never saw any on the last three trips? we set camp up at eurbie in the dark and never could get the fire wood we brought with to blaze away ! so that made for and early night! getting an early start was delayed due to the thick fog that rolled in and soaked everything! i stuck my head out and YOU COULDN'T SEE! I MEAN SO THICK I GOT TURNED AROUND GOING TOO THE BATHROOM AND WALKED THE WRONG WAY AROUND BACK TO THE CAMP SITE. KINDA SPOOKY! THE ONLY THING THAT SAVED ME WAS THE GRAVEL ON THE ROAD! WE WAITED ABOUT TWO HOURS BEFOR IT WAS THIN ENOUGH TO KINDA' SEE ...then we made are way out of the campground ,and by the time we hit the hwy the sun was out and another day a waited. we decided to make a run from kyles landing( if your breaks are weak don't go down that road) back to eurbie .. well this turned out to be a slow day no fish untill around are lunch stop and the the action was back on and only in the deep pools of water i did pull a few from the tail sections of the fast moving water most fish ranger in the 15 to 16 inch end of the scale all was good untill the last mile at the eurbie ford! rather than walking around it i decided to shoot over it! ... bad choice! i jabed the noise of my kayak in the ground and the back hung on the road side so there i set with water swirling around the front end and my back end high and dry? with some wiggling and pushing i managed to get all of my kayak back into the water just in time to watch the guy i went with say no.. no. you go on this side! yeah right!! i watched him do the same thing , only his short bell canoe just rolled over and dumped him in the water! so after a fast gathering of all the floating object and some feeling around the bottom to find the other stuff lost we made it back with everything we set out with! THIS MADE FOR A FAST PADDLE BACK TO THE CAR after a change into dry warm close we packed it all up and headed home, on the way into ponca the elk heard was the largest i have seen there . it was too dark to take any photos but i just might go back to watch them to night... any way it beats lugging the packages around at the mall!
  25. if you come this way.... point 12, on your river right under the highline wires!! 1000 yards in front or just around the point you'll see what i'm talking about! there has been as many a 8 boats there all week! most show up 1 to 2 hours befor sunrise and leave 2 hours after darkness sets in! hope you snagg one!
