  1. Davekeim, I do all the new product evaluations and support for our company in regards to cell phones, Blackberries and Windows Mobile 5 devices (today 8000+ devices in the field). The testing I do is with AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular. Sprint, currently has a better network for data when you are outside of major population areas. AT&T gets the nod inside the cities. So doing this day in and day out I would agree the iPhone is cool and works great, but remember all these products have a very short life span (about 2 years) so purchase one knowing this time frame. I prefer the Blackberry (it can take a good fall and still work), but everyone has an opinion. Here is the best advice, pick the phone and carrier that has the best coverage and signal strength for the area you are going to be in 90% of the time so you can get the most for your money. I personally do not carry a device because I need a break from the real on-line 7/24 world we all live in.
  2. I have not had the opportunity to salt water fly-fish. So that would be high on my wish list. Also I would like to do some Atlantic salmon fishing in the British Isles.
  3. 3wt, My camera $ucks so I will see if a freind can take a picture of the buckskin to post. Other wise, I start the white thread in the middle of the shank, work back to the bend, spin it, then work forward. So there is a slight tamper (but hard to see). It is fished as my second (dropper) nymph 85% of the time close to the bottom but if the tricos are in the air, I like to see it about 1' below the surface.
  4. trouthunter777, It is hard to know what size of fish the park will have. Of course they will throw in some lunkers and again who knows how many will be caught. I do know the Current does hold some nice fish. I have fished the Current 4 time this year and each time (but one) I have land at least 2 fish 20+". So if you are looking for bigger fish, try the river.
  5. jdmidwest, I go to Colorado every year for one week to fish. The Arkansas is a good river and you will be able to catch a decent number of fish. I have never fished "Gunny" yet since it is quite a drive from our base camp. You are going at one awesome time to hit the South Platte River, below Spinney Reservoir also called the "The Dream Stream". At this time large brown trout and Kokanee Salmon are entering the river and egg patterns are very effective, with a dropper. I talked to a friend of mine, Pat Dorsey (one of the premier guides in Colorado) over the weekend. He said Spinney is hot right now with big fish entering in the river everyday to spawn. A guide is not required to fish there, but this is also one on the busiest time of the year on the Dream Stream so it would best to go during the week. Here is a link to Pat's fishing reports: http://www.bluequillangler.com/stream_print.html
  6. Trouthunter77, If you are looking for a "simple, cheap, quick" fly to make and works for at least 10+ fish a day in the park and better in the Current River (plus all the Colorado rivers), here it is. It is a Buckskin. You can make them from a lot of different material but here is how I make them: Hook: Straight eye size 18 - 24 Body: White thick sewing thread (get it from Wal-mart for $1.18 for 150 yards) Head: Black dubbing Thread: Black 6/0 How to tie it: •Wrap your hook with a base of black thread. •Next, take your white tread and start it just a little down from the hook's eye. Use the black tread to attach it on. •Wrap the white thread towards the back of the hook, stopping at the bend. •Before wrapping it back to the eye, "spin" your bobbin clockwise for about 3 seconds (this makes an awesome segmented body). Now proceed to wrap the white thread towards the eye. Stop just before the eye so the head can be made. •Use the black tread to tie off the white thread, and cut the white thread. •Now the head, use just a tiny bit of black dubbing and wrap it around your thread. Then wrap the thread/dubbing on the hook to make the head. •Finish with a whip finish. FYI: size 20 and 22 are the best producers for me. The fish hammer them during the Trico hatches.
