  1. Overall I have to say a Smallmouth puts up the best fight from hookup to landing. But I would have to go with a bluegill if it were based on the first 15 seconds after the hookup. Later, FFM
  2. I know it is going to be July 22. Show me the money!!! Later, FFM
  3. Bman, I'm just wondering if the back seat was sized just right to fit my gluteus maximus? Later, FFM
  4. Triz, If the posted sign does not specify it is not allow then you can do it. Other wise, since it is legal in the park it is legal in the C & R area as well. I have double rigged there multiple times and Laker67 has a good point. Every other fish was a foul hook from my experience. Later, FFM
  5. Brian, That is one smart kid you got there. One of my girls will be turning 5 in mid April and she wants a "Brats" party. No mention from here about fishing. Later, FFM
  6. Mike, Did you take any measurements? Cool Fish! Later, FFM
  7. Ohmz138, I'm happy to hear you and your father are able to get out and fish the streams, together. My dad started taking my brother and I down to MSSP back in the mid 70s. He would take us at least 8 -10 times a year (that was a long drive for us back in those days). I enjoyed every trip. He was the first person I have even seen to hook and land over 70 trout in less than a day. Guess what he used... crickets! These days my dad is not able to get around as he did 30+ years ago. But I still do hold on to those memories. Thank you DAD!!! Later, FFM
  8. I missed your special coffee break stories. Later, FFM
  9. troutman11, The bait sux, just like the old SOB it is named after. So BMan, i will not go on my 3 page rant about that a-hole (not you troutman11, just Bosco) again like I did last year. Later, FFM
  10. Buzz, I got a few furlred leaders from Feather-Craft in STL. I got there house brand because of the metal ring and it like that better than the loop connection. I have used the leaders for two years with out any damage and withh use them for a third season as well. Even thought i do like them, I do not use them all teh time. Here are my reasons: - I don't like use them with if I have to place an indicator where the furled leader is. I just do not get my drift I like when the indicator is attached on the leader itself. - If and when I get catch on a bark fish and I have to snap the line, hte furled leader comes back a "mess". - 5' or longer leaders do not work well on a 7 1/2' fly rod. Since you have to add a bout 4' of standard tippet to the end, the furled leader makes one helava noise in the eyelets when trying to land a fish. But is you use a streamer or dry fly I really like using the furled leader. Later, FFM
  11. Greg, Here are a few items I have picked up throughout the years: Foam sheets (you can buy a multiple color pack of 20 sheet for less than $5) Lead wire Crystal bead (200 for less than $2.00, I have used them in hook sizes 12 to 24) Metal bead feathers threads scissors glue sticks yarn That is all I can think of at this time. But each item I purchased is going to last me for years at a lower cost. later, FFM
  12. Sure do... Go to any store like Target/Wal-mart or fabric store. The thread is standard sewing size Coats & Clark. You choice the color, I stay with earth tone colors.. In order to use, a very large bobbin is needed for hte large spool of thread. I hope this helps out. FYI: A lot of my fly tying material comes from Hobby Lobby, it cost a whole lot less there. 13. Well I'm jealous. you dah man B. Later, FFM
  14. I have created the entire series of these flies 4 differnt styles in 4 different colors. Each style is fished in different depths of the water column. There are a great fly to tie, plus they are so easy to make. The thread is super cheap and can makes thousands of these things for about $1.50 for 300 yards. Later, FFM
  15. 5x and 6x.... and you are breaking the tippet.... how old is? I think I would go out and purchace some new tippet. Or you have a very fast action rod and you are setting a biiiiiiiiiiit to hard. Later, FFM
  16. redbird, Here is a great forum site to use for the Rocky Mtns. Click here for the Rocky Mtn Flyfishing Forum Later, FFM
  17. shawncat, I would not sweat it, and by the way nice fish!!!!!! I remember about 8 years ago I hooking a really nice bow at BSSP and it only took 20 seconds or so to land it and when I tried revive it for 5 minutes it went belly up. So I deciced to weight and it ended up being 6 lbs 12 ounces. I went to clean it and all the meat was very mushy, so I ended up throwing the whole fish away. I'm gald you were able to salvage some thing out of it. Later, FFM
  18. Also for your information, here is a cool Forum dedicated to Warm Water Fly Fishing and they have a bunch of cool flies listed out there. Enjoy. Warm Water Fly Fishing Forum Later, FFM
  19. Heck as a kid, I never heard the word fillet until I was around 12. So we always had to spoon clean the fish, even bass. After I was taught how to fillet that is all I do now for all my fish I keep, except for trout (I hate those little side bones) I keep the skin on them. Later, FFM
  20. Kayser, Come on dude, show everyone the fish porn they want to see from your trip. Later, FFM
  21. Trout Stalker, Here is a previos post about the Thingamabobber, enjoy. http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?s...=Thingamabobber BTW, I love thos things. Later, FFM
  22. Great Report. We hope to see more of these from you in the future as well. BTW: whereabout in SoIL are you? Later, FFM
  23. Two years ago I had tandem "Buzzer Fish" (love that term) at BSSP, I was running a double rig at the time. Both were "Figets" so they weren't able to break my tippet. later, FFM
  24. Kyle, Currently the flows are showing a great level for wading. As for catching the fish, it is a crap shoot, those thing are so spread out. In the past 50% of my fish I catch are within 100 yards of the access point for Cardiac. I have more luck walking upstream to where another creek enters and the stream makes a hard left turn. brownie, you are correct on the access point info and names. Later, FFM
  25. Stephan, You are right about 60% of the people fishing in the trout parks have no clue about fishing equite (spelling?). But when some does that to me I usually make their casting a bit rough for about 2 minutes just as a bit of payback. Also I am jeolous becasue this is the first opener I have missed in 14 years at BSSP and I really missed it. Thanks for the report. later, FFM
