  2. LA, I KNOW THE FEELING!! later, ffm
  3. Well it is Monday, I understand the Conclave was this past weekend, but I have not seen any reports or chatter. What gives!! Any good fishing reports or seminars? Anything? later, FFM
  4. Britt, The standard colors for the RS2 I use are gray, olive and black but only make them in size 20 or smaller. No idea on the Cree or neck hackle, I don't any fancy stuff when when making my flies. Later, FFM
  5. britt, Now what is an RS2... Just Kiddin!! Anyway, down 9,000 tags from last year. I don't think that is all that bad since the stream "according to some people" is not the sames as the past years (higher faster water), so they decided not to come down. Also what else has happened this year... oh that's right higher gas price. later, FFM
  6. Awsome days on the water and great weather to boot. Thanks for the report. Later, FFM
  7. Bman, Cool lookin fish. What size tippet were you using? Also were you in your boat or wading? Later, FFM
  8. Hey Britts, I think you forgot the RS2 sz 18-22 (in gray or olive), and of course the Buckskin in size 18-22 and finally the Mercury Pheasant tail in size 18-20. All of them are killers in clear water condidtions. But if the water is a bit higher and off color they can be used under an indicator. IMPORTANT NOTE: Keep them on the bottom of the stream! Or as Britts can attest, You can put a big guy in the water with one size too small blue swim trucks to just scare the fish out of the water. Later, FFM
  9. Well it appear a wall of chocolate water has been dumped on my parade.... Yet Again. Son of a Mean Lady.. I guess I will be watching the gages for the rest of the week. If BSSP does shape up, I might have to start looking at Montauk/Current because it seems to be dropping a lot faster. Later, FFM
  10. ILL TB, There are a few from SW Illinois on here, I'm a bit north of in the Waterloo area. Glad to have you on board. Later, FFM
  11. Heck the only thing I'm worried about now is if the stream is going to be fishable by next weekend, with all the rain the is except to come in the next 3+ days. later, FFM
  12. Still that is one big "ace" fish. I wonder what pound tippet the dude was using. Later, FFM
  13. Mark, Here is a link to the Rocky Mountain Fly Forum. The guys on this site will help you out a lot in your trip planning. Just don't ask them for exact locations on where to catch the fish. Some of these guy can be a bit rude when it comes to that. I hope it will help you out. later, FFM
  14. Dave, It is $40 for the Nonresident Fishing license and $7 for the Trout Stamp. That trout stamp also allow you to fish in the Missouri Trout parks during the Winter Catch and Release (only) season that runs fron the 2nd weekend in Nov to the 2nd to last weekend in Feb. This includes Roaring River, Bennett Springs, Montauk and Maramec Springs. Later, FFM
  15. Kayser, You might want to contact Walt Fulps at MissouriTroutHunter.com. he is located in Rolla. I don't think he has a shop, but I'll sure he would be a great local resource. Come to think about it, Sam Potter is also in Rolla. You can get his info at TightLine.Biz. I hope this will help you out. Later, FFM
  16. Ice Fishing Contest The Presidential election was too close to call. Neither the Republican candidate nor the Democratic candidate had enough votes to win. There was much talk about ballot recounting, court challenges, etc., but a week-long ice fishing competition seemed the sportsmanlike way to settle things. The candidate that caught the most fish at the end of the week would win the election. Therefore, it was decided that there should be an ice fishing contest between the two candidates to determine the winner. After much of back and forth discussion, it was decided that the contest take place on a remote frozen lake in northern Minnesota. There were to be no observers present, and both men were to be sent out separately on this isolated lake and return at 5 P.M. with their catch for counting and verification by a team of neutral parties. At the end of the first day, John McCain returned to the starting line and he had ten fish. Soon, Obama returned and had no fish. Well, everyone assumed he was just having another 'bad hair' day or something and hopefully, he would catch up the next day. At the end of the 2nd day John McCain came in with 20 fish and Obama came in again with none. That evening, Harry Reid got together secretly with Obama and said, 'Obama, I think John McCain is a low-life, cheatin' son-of-a-gun. I want you to go out tomorrow and don't even bother with fishing. Just spy on him and see just how he is cheating.' The next night (after John McCain returns with 50 fish), Harry said to Obama, 'Well, tell me, how is John McCain cheating?' Obama replied, 'Harry, you're not going to believe this, but he's cutting holes in the ice!'
  17. BMan, I have only gone 6 times in my life. With the water conditions this past year, it just did not seem like a good idea to drive 4 ½ hours to not know what kind of water I was going to have. I took me 3 trips just to figure out how to fish the low water condistions, then each time after that I had some good success. But I would love to get back down there again. later, FFM
  18. Well after multiple planned trip and "Vetoed" kitchen passes all summer long, I have finally found a date I can make it down to BSSP. It is going to be Saturday Sept 20. This is going to be my first trip back since Opening Day. I cannot wait!!! I will be bring along 2 buddies, one that has been flyfishing with me for a few years now and new guy. (He want to know how to catch and release more than 5 fish in a day.) So I think it will be a blast. Anybody else planning on that weekend? BTW: Does Winter Catch and Release start on Friday Nov 14th? Later, FFM
  19. I will say it before anybody gets a chance.... Do you have any pictures? later, FFM
  20. Good report Dovetail, thanks for the update on the big fish. You are so correct Don, I don't keep trout over 3 lbs because I think the quality of the meat goes downhill. I caught a 6+ lbs fish at BSSP 6 years ago, and it only took 30 seconds to land so when I went to release it, the thing went belly up so I kept it. I took it up to get weighed, then cleaned it (this all happened it a 10 minute time span). When skinned it the meat was mushy, so I ended up cutting it up and let the other trout have a feeding frenzy. That was sad. Later, FFM
  21. It appears the Meramec river is up today after yesterday's storm. At noon on 8/28 the river was at 190 CFS now it is around 700 CFS. Click here USSG Chart @ Steelville later, FFM
  22. Terry, I bet you just want to get some experience under your belt so you can come back to Taney to take care of all those evil "bottom shufflers". They are the meanest/craftiest villains of all time. later, FFM
  23. Here is the "scary" photo of nature at it's best. This is somewhere in Tenn.
  24. flyfshn, I have to deal with about 2500 of these NC6000s on a daily basis. Here is HP's site for Trouble Shooting NC6000 There are so many potential problems that can arise, but there a few problems that really prevail: - Bad Battery (remove the battery and keep the laptop plugged into A/C) to see if it works. - CPU overheated (this is caused by dust building up on the fan and stops it from spinning) later, FFM
  25. I do what Zach does, by mixing up my hooks all together by type and size. But I normal buy Daiichi & Dai-Riki for my size 16 - 26 hooks. I purchase Mustad for sizes 14 or larger. I do try my best to buy in 100 packs (it depends on my spending budget at the time of purchase). Last year I purchase 3 - 25 packs of gamakatsu hooks in size 20, 22 & 24. I used them upper in two week and had terrible results. Out of the 75 hooks, 22 broke right at the bend on the vice. Over the last 10 years, I have only broke 4 hooks on the vice. Gamakatsu was going to replace them, but I said no I just wanted a refund. I have also come to a conclusion over the two years, I do not like or buy any hooks with down turned eyes. It is just a personal preference. later, FFM
