  1. Little dixie has row boats you can use for a small fee, at least they used to.
  2. The best place for an RV by the river is Greer, though there are no hook ups. A private Rv park about 2 miles from Greer called Cornerstone is just getting under way. They will be doing small rodeos, concerts and things like that. Very family oriented place, not a party place.
  3. I have been told a few times by the forest service what the end result will look like at Whitten and it has been a little different every time, so I am not going to guess now what it will be like. Just going to wait and see and hope that it is a good deal in the end.
  4. They only clipped fins of fish stocked in the blue ribbon trout area, not the white ribbon fish.
  5. It is very low above Greer spring. You could do it, but you will pull through a lot of shoals and it will take a while.
  6. Yes it is completely closed down, no canoes going in or coming out there.
  7. Remember to avoid Whitten, it is under construction. Gigging opens on the 15th if you have the equipment for that. Water is low, but it is still fishing well.
  8. It is fishing well, but it is also very low. Took a guide trip out this week and they caught lots of trout. Jet or no jet, there are some shallow shoals so be careful. Had a canoe float riverton to 142 and did well on the smallmouth. Not so much a log jam, that spot is about about 2 miles down from Turner and has been trouble on lower water for years. It is locally referred to as Fish Dam. The water has gotten low enough now that it is not as bad, though with a jet it is not really an issue anyway.
  9. Good report. It was nice having you guys down.
  10. Good point JD. Just got from Turner and we had a small front move through ahead of the bigger stuff we are getting later. Had to drag a dead tree trunk off the road caused by the wind gusts.
  11. It will take a signifigant rain to raise the river to dangerous levels at this point, but I don't know if that will happen yet. I am spending my day tomorrow studying the radar and predictions and calling reservations to give them updates so they can make educated decisions about whether they are coming. If we are getting the worst of the rain, I would think twice about camping on gravel bars. Problem is a prediction is just that, we could get more or less.
  12. They are not putting in electric hook ups if that is what you are wondering. They are putting in a retaining wall upstream of the boat ramp to keep it from washing out. Making the loop bigger and building camp sites up the road from the bathroom. That is the last thing I heard out of a few different plans, so we will see what happens. Who knows for sure. That Turner ramp could use another concrete slab or 2, especially now during low water. Doubt that is even considered for years though.
  13. Why I oughta...
  14. For those interested, Construction will be starting Mon morning at Whitten and they will be closing the access starting Sunday evening. They will be building a retaining wall and increasing the size of the access. Should be closed for 4-8 weeks. Kind of a pain that it is starting before Labor Day, but we will deal with it I guess. I have already been asked if they are closing the river more than once. A stupid question I know, but in case you were wondering...no, the river is not closed, just Whitten for a few weeks.
  15. It is still in effect and probably won't be lifted until we have a major rain event. A few small rains here and there won't do it. Best chance for that is in Oct, but if rains enough and is lifted I'll probably say something.
  16. It was great having you guys down, see you in Sept.
  17. You can wade up to the mouth of the spring fishing your way up easily now and then fish your way back. Note that fishing the spring branch is legally off limits. You can also go down to graveyard hallow and wade around the first island below Greer boat ramp.
  18. She was fishing a Pat's rubber leg with a Don's Crawdad dropper with a bb shot. It took the crawdad. In fact the crawdad did best all day.
  19. Brandon and Breanne Smith came over to fish the Eleven Point with me today. Brandon does some guiding on the NFOW and also works at Sunburst Ranch and is going to start taking the occasional trip for us on the Eleven Point. Anyway, while we were taking a scouting trip today Breanne hooked this 22" beast.
  20. There is a burn ban, bring a gas cook stove.
  21. You can certainly do it, but that won't leave a lot of fishing time.
  22. It was a pleasure having you guys down. The sauce is still in the freezer, no time to cook lately. Hope you guys can make it back sometime.
  23. We sell them at our shop. I don't like the crappie jig, not enough marabou.
  24. We don't normally get nose to tail traffic.
